This is fun and a good concept. I liked the world closing in as well as the retro vibe. Good job.

Cool character model. The world closing in around you also added a nice challenge.

Really good take on the theme. It kinda reminds me of those old Flash games about getting a high score until the game becomes impossible.

Submitted

Cool game! Really enjoyed the mechanics on this one.

Nice work. I like the style you went for and the graphics for Banana Man Dan are spot on.. the sunglasses and sandals made me laugh. The movement feels really good and overall it is fun to play. The closing in walls mechanic is a cool way to fit the theme and does a good job of making the world feel smaller as you go. The artwork is great and I liked how colourful everything is. There are a few little things.. Music is catchy but the loop could be smoother. Good job getting a proper arcade vibe in there.. you could definitely expand on this

Classic Banana Man Dan. What a chad! 😎 Great work on the game!

I love bananas, so automatically it's a cool game. The closing in at the end is a cool concept but I wish there was a bit more to do when you get stuck in it, I wanted to make like a banana and split to the next attempt.

Thanks for playing! Agreed, some kind of self-destruct option when you're stuck and just waiting for the walls to close in would be a good feature. Also, way to pun ;)

Nice work on this one. I love the artwork!

Thanks for playing. I liked your submission too!

This game make me want to dress up as a banana. Nice platformer and good job in making it!

I think there was a Lego figurine that had a strikingly similar costume to Banana Man Dan that I recall.  It is a neat theme!

Developer

Thanks for playing and leaving a review. Just checked out your game. Very polished submission. Good job to your team as well!

If I replay, the banana count seems to restart at 0, but as soon as you collect one, it would add on to the previous score and display that. The closing in effect looks cool though.

Developer

Ah, yup. I forgot to reset the banana counter on replay. Thanks for catching that. And thanks for playing!

Fun game. I liked how the theme was used when the walls were closing in, making the space smaller and smaller.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I enjoyed your game, too.

Cute! My only gripe was the player character would often hit the bottom of enemies while walking if they were above, which resulted in some situations where I basically couldn't do much. Keep it up, this was really fun and well put together!

Developer

Thanks for leaving a review and your feedback. We'll look into adjusting the setting to address your issues and we appreciate you giving it a play!

Developer

FWIW I have the same gripe. If we make any changes post-jam, that will for sure be on the list. Thanks for playing!

Thanks for taking the time to play our game and leave a review. We're glad you enjoyed it!

I love the graphics how Banana Man Dan adjusts his sunglasses, and his sandals are pretty neat too!  The music loop seems a bit abrupt (not seamless).  The gameplay mechanics is quite good!

Hi gamer1867, thanks for checking  our submission out. Did you happen to play on a mac? We think there may be multiple issues happening with mac users that don't appear to be a problem with PC users. We're currently looking into as we've also had performance problems on mac.

Submitted

For sure, my pleasure.  I played it in a browser running under Linux.  Possibly there could be similar issues on MacOS and Linux if MacOS is actually Linux-based or Linux-derived, but I'm not sure on that.  Or if there is a known problem/issue on the Mac then possibly it could be a game engine issue and not your sourcecode at all.  The hardware I am running is old by today's standards, so that could also be a possible issue if the demands of the game outpace the capacity or speed of the hardware running the browser.  So many possible variables, it is hard to track it down and isolate it.

Submitted

Also, the browser running the game is Firefox, not Chromium-based.  So that is another possible source of an issue too.  Sometimes I've run into problems with running Godot games under Firefox, but not frequently so.

Developer

Thanks for your reply. The common denominator currently seems to be issues when run on Firefox. I also experienced a number of glitches when trying to play through Firefox. If you use another browser and you give the game another go, let us know if there was any improvement in your experience.

For sure, it could be a browser issue, or a game engine / game SDK that is optimized only for Chromium browsers.  I heard once that because of the dominance of Chromium browsers on the internet, some developers (i.e. game engine authors) only test with the Chromium line of browsers and don't test with others very much if at all.  It could just be the game engine itself.  But in any case, that's good that it has been narrowed down / isolated as the probable cause.
