Nice little plattformer. So the graphics came with an asset pack, but it's what you make out of it that counts, and the levels were all very well designed. (I got stuck in level 4, though).
I especially liked the fact that at some point when 3 of the big spike monsters fell down on you (right after the checkpoint in level 3 IIRC) there was just enough room to squeeze in between the spot where the monster crushed down and the platform incline, so you could take a dive and wait there for the monsters to retreat in order to jump up to the next part.
Oh well, the "green water" actually isn't. Water, that is.
The background loop was a bit repetitive over time though and could have used more variety...
Thanks for trying out our game! We really appreciate it~
Just a little insight regarding the things that you mentioned:
We did just impulsively decide to use it so we're glad that you liked how we utilized the asset pack.
That was my friend/teammate's idea and I was also surprised when that was a thing. Not sure if it was intentional but I decided to keep it in as it kinda looks funny in a positive way.
The Spicy Water (Green Water) was also something another player mentioned so I updated the tutorial to specify "Clear Water" or something like that. I'm not sure whether I needed to inform the player about that since in the Tutorial level, there was a small part of green water near the explanation of enemies and such, and also to let the player test it out and learn from it if ever they skipped the Tutorial level.
As for the background, we did want to make use of the other available backgrounds in the asset pack to change things up a bit. I just encountered a problem where some of the background assets there weren't working properly with the parallaxing method that I know and since we only decided to make 5 levels, we just decided to use 1 set of background to lessen the work that we have to do. I'm not sure if there's a proper way to parallax a sprite image that isn't a full image (half transparent, half colored so unity is only parallaxing the colored part so the sprite isn't moving properly) that's why we decided to do it.
No need to apologize for using an asset pack, that's what they're for in the first place. I used one myself ;)
When I first hopped into the green "water" I was fully ecpecting it to be something dangerous, so I don't think it needs any extra introduction. It first appeared pretty close to a checkpoint as well, so no losing half a level of playing just right before the next one. As I said, level designs are pretty good!
loved how we could go behind a tree, something I haven't seen much, this is more realistic.
Fun game. I enjoyed playing it, but there were parts that were too hard for me. I think I dies 6 times before reaching the checkpoint. More checkpoints would have been nice.
Thanks a lot for making this game.
Thanks for trying out our game!
I understand that it can be too hard for others. It is also kinda hard for me once I started playing through the levels without the Unity Engine just to playtest it.
I would've loved to add more checkpoints but when I was making the feature, I only experimented with it due to time constraints so I didn't bother researching for a better method for multiple checkpoints. I'll try looking it up more and maybe update the game when I have free time again.
Thank you again! We're glad that you enjoyed it!
Congratulation on your first game jam! You two did very well! The game is complete from start to finish, with no glaring mistakes, smooth controls, and clean gameplay. The game can be frustrating at times, but I think that's what you are trying to do. I really like the sound effect too. Well done!
Awesome work! I really enjoyed the way you handled the swimming. My one suggestion would be to consider zooming out the camera a bit or adjust the positioning of some of your traps as it felt a bit frustrating to fall into a pit of spikes that wasn't visible from the lip for example. As a player, I don't like to feel like I need to have died already on something to have the foresight to avoid it. Still, really excellent work with tons of polish. Great Job!
Thanks for trying out the game!
Regarding the camera, the game's resolution was incorrect because I had trouble with uploading it so I had to adjust it, causing it to mess up with the originally planned player's vision. I have thought of a solution recently but I would still like to say that there are some intended hidden from vision traps of some sort since the world is supposed to be a "deceptive" world. Makes the player try and try again and remember all the traps so they can complete the levels with as little deaths as possible, kinda like the Super Meatboy game in the repeating aspect, just with more twist where there are hidden traps instead of just hard jumps and the like. I did upload a zoomed out version but only adjusted it slightly to keep the feel of the game the same.
Still, thank you for your feedback and for trying out our game!
very cute and polished - i thought the music, graphics, and controls all worked together really well :)
This is fun! There is a high level of polish in the level design, graphics, smooth gameplay. The tutorial is the best i've seen so far too!

Fun game! It's got good mechanics and learning tutorial. Good job!
Nice smooth animation like the graphics & style great job in the time given.
Player movement feels good and tight but I think the levels could do with a few more checkpoints :)
Thanks for trying it out!
The checkpoint feature was added in a rush without any research so I wasn't able to try making multiple checkpoint feature due to time constraints, but I feel like I now have an idea how I want to make it so if I have free time, I might update the game to have more checkpoints, then my partner and I can try to expand the game!
A fun and quite challenging platformer. Mid level checkpoints are good, although some levels made me with for some additional checkpoints where there were multiple challenging sections in a row. Aside from some grounding issues when close to an edge, the movement feels quite good! Nice work!

For the grounding issues, I did experience it as well but I'm not sure how to fix it yet so I had to submit it while knowing that the issue is present. Maybe I'm mixing a lot of detection that's why it's happening but I'll try to learn more from this.
Again, thank you for trying it out! We really appreciate it!
I'm not sure if it's just me but I couldn't play the game the controls aren't working for me
Great game! The level design was excellent, challenging, and very fun. The music was nice too, although maybe a bit repetitive. I did notice some issues, like the sound effects only played in my left ear. I'm guessing it was set to mono? But no major issues of note.
Overall, really good submission! Especially for your first game jam!
Thanks for trying out our game!
The sound issue is something I kinda got confused as well until I realized that it became something like a "directional" sound since its not being played globally rather from where the object was, so sometimes it only plays on one side. I'm still not sure how to fix it, maybe a different way to play audio, but never had the time to properly research how to do it so I had to submit it this way.
Still, thank you for this! We're glad that you found it nice and fun!
