Looks really nice!
The art and sounds just fit together perfectly. Great work on the aesthetic! You did really well for a first game jam, there's a lot of potential in this idea!
This is a fun exploratory experience with a very chill atmosphere! You did a very good job picking sprites and sounds that feel cohesive. I wanted to play more, so I hope you expand this idea after the jam. In some ways, it felt like a ghostly version of A Short Hike. Meaning that it evoked similar good feelings throughout the experience. Good job!
Thank you for playing! Yes it's my first attempt at a game jam and I spent a bit too much time focused on the look and feel but ran out of time to complete the actual game loop and expanding the world. But I love your idea of making it a more relaxed experience like A Short Hike.
I feel like this is a solid framework for a game. I'm sure you didn't have enough time. The rest of the game is so polished I can see how adding in logic to add an objective can fall to the wayside. Cool foundation for the rest of the game though!
Really cute! I loved the graphics, animations, and effects - like the pots breaking and the ghost boi's slight transparency!
Nice! Loved the graphics and the idea. Would love to see how it evolves with objectives and additional actions!
Definitely a cute game! I love the aesthetic of the ghost boi himself. The lack of a proper objective is a bit unfortunate, but it's clear you put a lot of time and energy into developing the aesthetic and the level itself, which is really well made.
The theme is absolutely spot on for the game-jam, the music and aesthetics also fit the theme very well. The gameplay was a bit lacking but I believe the concept of frightening living bystanders has a lot of potential for some silly fun.
Good job mate! The concept and the aesthetics are strong. I feel that the main game loop is a bit lacking. You’ve got some of your core mechanics down(moving and scaring), but it’s missing an objective and dangers, even something dirty like: “Scare all men in town” or “Scare all the adults in town, but none of the children” would have helped wrap it up.
Anyway, solid job! I can definitely see this becoming a more complex project.
Yes I just ran out of time to unfortunately. Some great ideas, thanks! Could even go a "Monsters Inc" route and make the objective scaring the children while avoiding the adults. Thanks for playing!
Love that idea! Definitely worth pursuing, even for making just a $1 game.
Fun idea, that looks good and plays well. One thing, though, I wish I could use some objects to scare people too!
Yes, I had originally wanted to use the throwables either for scaring or distracting (possibly added a stealth element), but never got there. One day maybe. Thanks for playing! :)
Disappointed that I couldn't pick up the bat or any of the people and throw them. :P Looks like a solid foundation to add to for a top-down action RPG!
I love the style of the main menu, but the gameplay is a bit lacking for me. It feels a bit like a zelda sandbox game. Nice work though, the controls, aesthetics and animations are very well done.
Nice aesthetics, also music and sfxs work great for the game; the idea that you are a ghost who wants to scare people is brilliant; the only thing is that i'm not sure about the purpose of scaring them in the overall gameplay.
Nice game, it looks nice and the concept is fun. Just ran out of time like the rest of us ;)
The artwork is great, and I adore this game. But I'm not sure what to do next. However, I hope your game receives good positive feedback.
Thanks for playing! Yes, unfortunately I ran out of time to implement damage to player and to enemies. Would also have liked to have made the world a bit bigger. Next time!
