What a fun idea for a jam. I thought the gem abilities were inventive and fun and I liked that there were secret areas in some of the levels. The dialogue was pretty funny in places too. Thanks for sharing!

enjoyed playing this one! the controls are responsive for a platformer, the art is neat and the gameplay is fun and challenging, using the crystals to boost abilities is a nice concept, overall great game! congratulations! keep it up!

That's a fun one, I enjoyed my time playing your game. The mechanics with the crystal can be a bit hard to get the hang of, and the player controller is  a bit too much imprecise but I really like your game overall. The aesthetics and the humor are very enjoyable. Well done!

Developer

Thank you very much :)

The crystals are hard to use and if you fail, then it's all over :D but I had fun!

If you find the time, can you play my game, too?

Have a nice day, keep deving!

Developer

Thanks and yeah they are :)

Submitted(+1)

It took a minute to get used to the crystals. Was pretty fun when I did however. Good job.

Developer(+1)

Glad you had fun! :)

Very nicely done! Some nice mechanic ideas there. Would have liked to practice with the crystals because I'm an idiot ;)

Developer

Hahaha, definitely not. A lot of people were having trouble with the crystals. I'm going to rework them! Thanks for playing and the compliments :)

Like the game.  Didnt like the one use crystals as I got stuck and couldnt die.  Have to admit I didnt read the instructions or read the narrative in game

Developer

Haha, that's okay. I think a game should hold up without reading instructions so I definitely need to work on the c crystals.  You could reset the game in the pause menu but I understand that not everyone reads the instructions. Thanks for playing :)

Very interesting mechanics. Very nice that you managed to put different mechanics into the game in 10 days. Love the sprite work and the dialogues. I think the game is a little bit difficult. And every time I misuse a crystal I need to reset it, which is a bit frustrating.

Overall, a very well-made, complete game. Impressive that you finished this with just 2 people in 10 days. Great job!

Developer

Definitely, a way to replenish your crystals is something I would like to look into. I thought of an idea to make certain NPCs replenish your crystals but I just didn't have time to do that in the game jam time. But That's definitely a good idea. Thank you very much for the compliments :)

Short and fun game. I like the art style and the simplicity. Also the dialogue system looks great and the story seems interesting. One critic that I would give is its hard to use the crystals the way I want, giving the player a way to control the crystal can be a good idea, like helping the player to throw the crystal that teleports the player by aiming, or changing the green crystal from one time use to having it play the role of a spring or something like that.  Red crystal was the most easy to use and made an interesting powerup. Overall, Good job!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I love listening to people's suggestions for the crystals. I have heard the aiming one with the mouse and I don't think it's too bad of an idea. I think adding in a few extra levels in between just with the one crystal would also be helpful. But the aiming idea is really good. I just have to figure out how to implement it. Glad you thought it was fun :)

Quite slick. Well done!

Developer

Thanks!

This game was super fun to play! I enjoyed the dialogue and the bonus level was nice touch as well. It would be nice to have some music but the SFX were good, just wish there was more them. Maybe add sounds for the different crystals when you place them and when they activate.  Also the hidden walls were awesome to stumble upon, made me question all the previous levels I had been on haha.

What are the odds that we both made a game about capturing souls. I like how your take was a puzzle game and you guys knocked it out of the park. Great job!

Developer(+1)

yes definitely sounds were a thing that I skimped out on when I was making the game. Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)

Great submission! I like how you used the crystals as power ups. I’ve rated your game. I hope that you’ll check out and rate my submission as well. :-)

Thanks

I like the cute little ghost's animations. The ideas for using the crystals to complete the levels and the dialog with the NPCs are good. The platforming feels a bit slippery and the air movement makes some jumps a bit tricky. The camera also gave some trouble in some levels as it was hard to see what was ahead of you or below you in some areas. The crystals should probably be multi use rather than single use, as they were not obvious how to use each one of them and having to restart the level after spending your only crystal and being stuck in a hole was a bit frustrating. Some nice ideas here though that could definitely be refined. Nice work!

Developer

Thank you very much. Yes crystal and movement rework on definitely on the list for me :)

Neat little game you all made for the jam. Well done!

The game looks and feels pretty good, except for how the crystals work... There's just so little feedback on how each one works and little consistency on their timing. It would have been nice to have a mouse click or other input be used to activate the crystals instead of a timing, allowing players to have more control over their movement. Not to mention that the green crystal is easy to break a level with since it appears to break level collision. I got stuck inside the level the first time I used it lol. It would also be nice to have a UI counter for how many crystals you have. Dialogue was a little long and confusing just because of the two speakers. Having a single speaker or the speech bubble move with each speaker might make that more clear though.

I offer so many areas of improvement only because I REALLY like what you have done here. This is a cool take on a platformer and with some polish, you could be on to something. The game handled well outside of the crystals, the presentation was clean, and the design foundation is solid. I don't ever want to pressure a dev to continue working on a jam game post jam (jam games are great learning tools), but this is a really cool loop and I'd love to see what else you can do with it. Super cool game, y'all. Keep up the good work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much! These are all good suggestions. There is actually already a counter to track how many crystals you have but I guess it's not clear enough so I could work on that. I agree that there are a lot of issues with the crystals. I was trying to get the functionality working and I didn't do much testing once I got it working. And yeah the collision bug ahahaha I saw it while I was watching rick play it. I was thinking about how to add feedback and I have a few ideas. I think a lot of it just goes back to having sound and maybe adding in camera shake or something. A lot of really really good suggestions thank you! I was also planning on working on it after the jam was over. Or releasing an update. I'm already working on it. I made a few changes already, the crystals are the next thing I'm planning to tackle :)

I like that you took the time to make dialogue for this. The 4th wall breaking bit was particularly hilarious.  The jumping and moving could use a little tuning, thought it felt too slippery and the camera was a bit too zoomed in to see where I'm going or where I'm falling. However I really liked the crystal abilities that gave you different methods of traversing the levels--err I mean dimensions. Nice game, nice art, I like the visual clarity of everything :)

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, I was trying to figure out the movement system to work with the crystals but I don't think I hit it right on the mark. I'll have to go back and change that up a bit. Thanks for the feedback!

This is a well made platformer. The controls were nice an tight. The jumps felt real good. Nice job.

Thank you!

Cute platformer! Loved finding the NPCs and running through their dialogue. Really gave the game some personality. :)

Developer

Thank you :)

enjoyed playing the game throughout,  also liked the dialogue. Good job!

Thank you very much! :)

Nice job! I  thought the world the game set up was really fun and the graphics looked nice. Good job on the GUI, especially. I thought the gameplay was fun with getting to find and use gems. The only troubles I had were with the jump and camera. On the 4th level it starts out with those one tile jumps you have to do up the wall, and with no coyote time  on the jump that part was pretty difficult. I also wished the camera followed the player a little more tightly. I thought the level design was really good, but the fact that most of the levels were vertical made the fact that camera was set so high on the player made me a little worried I  was going to fall in a bottomless pit or something as I was navigating my way down the levels. Aside from a couple small issues, though, this is an extremely solid entry. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! Yes, I was planning on revamping the movement system with coyote time and jump buffering. I think those are good points. I was worried the camera was set too high but I didn't feel like it was but, I know I built the game so I was never surprised by a floor appearing out of nowhere. So you saying this is very helpful thank you. The reason I did it was because the way the camera was set before, the dialogue box would sometimes get cut off. Definitely after the jam voting period. I'm going to mess with the camera more and I was hoping to get a more complex camera system happening but... hahahah I don't know how to do that. But I'll learn. Thank you for the feedback! :)

This was a great little game! I really liked the dialogue, I think it had a good balance of cheekiness and instruction. Well done! :D
