This game is really cool! At first I didn't understand what to do but then it clicked on me and understood. Really nice mechanics!

Great game, good story and really nice art. The puzzles were a bit frustrating because the time limit and the lot of stuff that were going on, but because it is a short game, I think it was necessary to give the player a decent challenge. Well done and congratulations for your entry! :)
Creative blend of narrative and speedy puzzles. You even got some nice gameplay details in there light indicators for the next spawn point. The whole thing also had a great look to it. Going to have to come back later and try some other endings :)
Very cool. It's like a rougelite/speedrun game. I appreciate difficult games, but I'd also suggest an "easy mode" for players like me who are more invested in the story.
Excellent work! Hope you do a follow-up! 😀
Nice work on the narrative, it's always good to see someone work on story since most of us forget to haha. I thought it played well but an idea for future might be to start the game paused and let the player pick their own spawn location before unpausing, then after they die, repeat that loop? Longer lifespan, or varying lifespan for each spawn location would open up a lot of puzzle possibility for you too :) Good work!
Thank you for playing and leaving a comment! We did consider pausing, but we ended up letting the player instantly respawn. We thought that having pauses between respawning interrupts the game's rhythms and makes the game more frustrating having to wait. We need to experiment more to know which solution is best. Thank you for your thoughtful feedback!
Felt sorry for blaming the 3 year old for just wanting icecream. Nothing wrong with that, lol. Played and enjoyed the game until I got stuck to where I was dying like every 2 seconds and there was no hope of me reaching the next goal. After dying like 100 times i gave up. Well done
very original take on the theme, the art, music and story worked well together. it took me a while to figure out how it worked, since it was so very fast paced, nice work
It sure has stellar artwork! And while the dialogue was dry in some places, it did give me a few laughs.
The mechanic of multiple spawn points has some amazing potential. Dying repeatedly for a respawn in a specific place was a bit tedious, even with the instant respawn button - but it could absolutely work in a game where respawning at any of the points can give you progress.
I absolutely agree there are some rough spots in the dialogues. Personally, I'm not happy with how the story turns out but time is limited and I'm unpracticed in writing stories.
Regarding the repeated respawn, I completely agree. I think the tedium comes from the lack of complexity in the puzzles. The number of spawn points didn't match the complexity of the puzzle. If each spawn points have more content and are therefore more meaningful, I think it wouldn't be as tedious. So I hesitate to say that the respawn mechanic is fundamentally flawed. It is probably more of a problem with puzzle design.
Thank you so much for giving our game a try!
I guess end 1 is if you stay?
I had really fun playung the game! Thank you! And if you don't mind to play mine, I would appreciate that :P Well if you haven't yet :D I can't remember anymore... It all gets blurry after 90 games rating :D
And the artwork is amazing too!
Excellent Game! Loved the visuals and audio and the puzzle aspect, the constraint of a very short lifespan per spawn and respawning from different locations during the same playthrough worked really well, level design showed off some good examples of varying spawn points as tactical advantages for different objectives. dialogue was clever and humorous. Smart move having spacebar force an instant respawn, helps with player patience. With more dev time I could see some definite potential in varying the lifespan or pickups to do so, maybe dependency chains between the objectives also for some nonlinearity in each overall task (and of course boss fights, wakka wakka!). Very well done, played all the way through.
woha! that was a wild ride! thank you for that thought-ful and -provoking experience!
the art was wonderful - especially the character portraits were top notch! Hades better watch out!
the gameplay was quite good as well and natural fit to the story. but it was freaking hard as well!
i guess the learning curve was pretty steep because of that narrow window of opportunity each time, but I enjoyed the world and story so much, that i endured and I'm glad I did. It did feel quite rewarding in the end.
super impressive entry - you should be very proud.
The art for this is absolutely gorgeous. Everything from the game assets in the top down mode to the close-up art of the characters and the design of the page itself. I felt that the game was a bit too hard for me. I did make it to the 3rd or 4th level, but I found that I barely had time to register where I had spawned before something killed me.
You happened to be reviewing the games that I was reviewing, so I figured I'd give yours a go as well. I love the story and the gameplay so much! "We don't have enough development time for that" made me actually laugh out loud. Maybe the timer was a little fast? That could be my only feedback, because sometimes I'd catch a corner or not move fast enough and then I'd have to wait for the whole rotation again. But overall, really awesome job!
This is well crafted. I enjoyed the story, it seems like it tells the solemn story of a person fighting agoraphobia. It felt like something the right mostly faced, it is very engaging. The art was beautiful, I really enjoyed the hand drawn aesthetic of the characters. The music and sound both played very well into the setting. The mechanic was nice but jarring. It took me a second to get my bearings at each level, while I just bounced around start positions. When I got the hang of it it was a nice fun puzzle. Awesome Job, I really enjoyed this one.
Thank you for taking the time to play and read the story! The story is a meditation on escapism, which I think everyone has faced at some point in their life. But I think agoraphobia also fits, so I'm glad you find meaning in it. Yes, the difficulty can be quite high at the start. Thank you for not giving up and pushing through!
It's tooo haaaaard! Hahaha :D I'm a terrible gamer, honestly. Don't take my word for it. I was dying on average once every 0.5 seconds on the second level with the watching eyes. It was like a drum machine of death sounds.
I love the intro, the music and the story. Personally I liked it more than the actual game, but understand full well that.. well then it'd just be a story, right? :D The art is really nice, the mechanics were smooth, it looked amazing. So all positives apart from my personal experience that I just suck at the game.
I did notice 1 thing, accidentally - the music stops when you drag the page down by clicking the middle mouse button. (my scroll wheel is broken so this is how I go about.. it'll likely go unnoticed otherwise)
Well done, thanks for your submission!
Thank you for giving the game a try! I'm glad you like the story and the music.
I think it has less to do with you being bad and more to do with the mechanics not being properly introduced (we should've done better). Others have also reported the difficulty spike in level 2. In level 2, all 4 spawn points are out of sight. So one tip is to not move at all and just sit there and look at the map. You can infinitely respawn so take your time. If you move you will die faster. You will soon notice that only one key point is actually reachable initially! ;)
If you are willing, please give it another try! Thank you again for playing!
