Really cool game!

Nice, I became the mighty oak! That was a lot of fun. Nice sprites too. I felt like the fast fall after the jump made it hard to do a dash to get the collectibles that were right above the spikes, but I think with a couple small tweaks, the feel would be perfect for a precision platformer. Awesome job!

Nice game! Really good use of the jam theme.

I stuck on the desrert level, when there is a wall woth a spike, is it possible to pass?

Developer

Aw yeah you can  stand on the narrow lip and jump over the spike. Thanks so much for playing!

Good concept of rebirth, and I like that player starts from point of death instead of the beginning. Maybe the spikes can look more nasty like thorns? Cos initial they look out of place in a forest, more like some medieval castle defense ;-)

Developer(+1)

that's a cool idea! I included some thorny vines into the quit button but hadn't made it into a gameplay element. Thanks for the feedback!

Cute game and artwork! I felt that sometimes I could walk on the spikes without taking damage, maybe the colliders detection? Good work!

Neat little game and I like the artwork. I noticed hearts being taken away by spikes were a bit hit or miss. I could run into one and it would take a heart then other parts I could walk along 3 or 4 and take no damage. Not sure if there is a time for immunity after hitting one I just noticed I wasn't always taking damage.

Cute characters, lovely art, and  a creative way to implement the theme. I really enjoyed this.

Being reborn from a tree was a nice take on the theme. Definitely unique but I can't believe I'm saying this but of all the games I've tried, I think this was too easy. You basically can't die so there's no reason to avoid the spikes and there's no real sense of peril. Healing is plentiful and easily accessed. I didn't really see what the water was for but maybe respawns?
Weirdly the 4 hearts went down from the middle not the end, was that intentional?

Short and fun game. Good concept and art. I was hoping there was a tiny bit of story or conclusion in the end, it just ended suddenly. It is better to reward the player for completing the game or have some clip hanger to make the player guess on how the story ends.
But overall,  Great work!

I loved the death/life animation! :D Very clever!

But the spikes and enemies almost never hit me?

The resolution was also a problem for me, I couldn't really see the menu. The gameresolution was okay though.

Good game, I like the concept! The collision needs a little polishing, maybe longer spear range, because I got damaged by squirrels a lot. Also, platforming is a little annoying, but fortunately, you do not have to restart from the beginning each time you die. Good job, congratulations! :)

Your core gameplay was well-established(running, jumping, attacking), but I was expecting some kind of twist. I do like that when the Acorn dies, it resurrects in the same spot, and the animation for it is interesting.

I would have loved to see this incorporated as a mechanic in gameplay though.

I had some issues playing on my laptop due to the resolution of the game being a bit too high, also the hearts would empty in a weird order, and sometimes I don’t die even with no hearts. But honestly, I wouldn’t concern myself too much over that, since it’s a game jam, I would recommend you go back and smooth out the gameplay and remove some bugs, just for the learning experience.

Apart from that, the art is solid, and I’m a big fan of the huge-rabid looking squirrels.

Played and rated. Nice little game, was enjoyable!

The visual style feels very good in the accorn theme I really loved it. The gameplay was well balanced and simple. Nothing really bothered me, I had a great experience. Good job! :)

Would appreciate if you check out and rate our game as well: https://hadilepanda.itch.io/rise-of-necromancy

Nice little game! Polished, with few well done mechanics. Loved the art style, pretty good! I think you can still work a little on the movement, it's a bit too fast. And sometimes collisions work weirdly

But nice job!

Played it a few times, it's fun! I liked the controls for feeling responsive and the spike placement worked well for that, leading to a nice variation in jumps. Also I somehow managed to spam slide at the end of level 2 and that felt great to do - I'd like to see your next platformer incorporate more sliding :D

Submitted(+1)

Spikes sometimes are harmless, slide is without meaning to me because you don't need it. Could be good to use it in air to avoid some spikes!

Anyway there is good art that gives the right athmosphere! Good! :D

Love the art, death animation is really cool, music was fine, only thing I had problem with is controlling my jump and hitboxes. None the less great work!

A very fun idea. The little acorn is cute and the rebirth is very cool. The hearts dwindling was interesting. I am not sure what the sequence of them dying, but it was fun to see.

Developer(+1)

oh haha yeaaaaah. That heart sequence was TOTALLY intentional. It was actually one of those situations where what you get in the editor doesn't always match the built version

Great job on the concept and the art.
