I really like the mechanics, simple yet really entertaining game! Also, the randomly spawning mana potions mage a really good tactical challenge, as should you leave the gate for mana management, or should you stay and defend it. I really enjoyed it, well done! :)

Nicely done! Really enjoyed the gameplay and overall nicely polished with a good replay value. Good job!
I really liked the game. Nice difficulty buildup. Only feedback was that I used the keys and mouse. Having to use the e key to cycle was not the easiest. Instructions said right mouse button but that didnt work for me. I'd also like to change directions of the spell scrolling. Leaderboard was a nice touch. 4th right now, not to brag, lol
Very nice game! Very balanced and challenging. Congratulations on reaching this level of completion in your game.
If you are going to continue working on it I would suggest adding upgrades to keep the player motivated to continue playing.
Good work :)
Congrats on a nice game. The mechanics work well and it doesn't take long to work it out. The camera shake works well.
That's a nice and challenging submission, really liked the artwork :)
Super polished game. The graphics spot on. The feel of the movement, spot on. The sound effects, spot on. The juiciness, spot on! This is a great entry, GREAT JOB!
Fun little game, probably win't get a highscore though.
Once I got it, I got it, but it would have helped to explain how to switch spell in the game. I didn't see the [i] button when I first loaded and I don't think it exists in the you died, reload screen?
Personally I found it hard to distinguish between the earth and fire. Didn't really feel like it connected with the theme at all.
Good job on the leaderboard.
Overall, a fun little game but could use a tutorial level or some on-screen hints
Thanks for the feedback.
How to play would've been better then [i] button for sure, that was our mistake we haven't made it clear. Game definitely lacked connection to the theme we realized that a bit to late. We totally overlooked the fact that earth and fire are very similar, I guess reason for that is that we got used to it. Competitivenes makes every game a bit better. :D
Very well made game, thanks for sharing. I love how Tim has the highest score
Incredibly fun and addicting. The control is silky smooth, the sprite looks great, and most impressively, the projectile speed is adjusted just right that it requires some aiming but is not terribly difficult. Very polished and well-executed.
To make this game even better, I will highly suggest changing the mana potions to things other than blue (like the green portal?), as there are blue enemies. While at the early stage it is easy to distinguish, later when it becomes more hectic, it is easy to mistake the potions for enemies. Also, it is kinda counter-intuitive that we are supposed to match the elements instead of using the element that counters the enemy's element. Also, some warning (flashes or filters) before you run out of mana (maybe when 1~3 shots left) would be helpful. The screen shake after you run out of mana is not that helpful, especially without other visual cues.
Also, ranked eighth! :D (a leader board for social competitions is very good. Great that you can get that set up in a game jam!) Great game!
Wow thanks for taking time and giving thorough feedback.
You are right mana can definitely trick you into shooting it later in the run. More user feedback was something I started working towards the end of jam so I didn't really had that much time to playtest the game. Matching elements was my mistake, for some reason I thought that using opposite elements will make game harder since when the game gets to some length and there are many enemies it's easier for your brain to connect matching color then to think what element kills it. But it's something that needed testing for sure.
Congratz on 8th place :).
Great game. I was not getting far into the level, but it has nice elements and the music is very well suited.
How did you make the global high score?
Very cool take on the tower-defense/portal defense genere! Well done and it looks amazing. It gets a little hard for me though
Played and rated. A great submission!
Pros
- Very engaging gameplay
- Visual style looks great
- Music is vibing!
- Leaderboard, adds a nice competitive touch
Cons
- Connection to the theme is not strong
Overall a great submission, very engaging gameplay with nice visuals that only lacks a connection with the gamejam theme. Great job :)
