I found the tower placement mechanism a little bit clunky but all round this was a fun tower defence game, well done! Also +1 for the effort adding animated previews on the itchio page.

Such a great game! the art is amazing, polished mechanics, smooth gameplay, replayability and solid design.
The only thing I would love to have as a user, is the number of turrets (the 2/6 data) in the UI all the time, it would be very much appreciated and help when you are in a hurry to deploy a new turret.
I’m quite happy that I reached 12 minutes :)
Outstanding game! Well done!
Really fun game!
During my gameplay I found:
- Id like to be able to click to deeply without having to press enter ( i almost never pressed abort)
- I didn’t realise that I could upgrade my mine until quite far into the game!
- I had a tough time using the mortar on the left side of the screen when my tab was open. Maybe autohide the tab/reduce its alpha if you have an ordance selected?
- Id like to be able to upgrade my turrets just by clicking them and choosing to upgrade there (rather than selecting upgrade in the tab and then selecting the turret)
- Id like to be able to build walls!!
TBH i really enjoyed the gameplay, and played much longer than I intended haha.
Awesome feedback man!
- I thought about getting rid of this feature, but I decided against it because you can pretty reflexively hit enter to spawn, and then you get rid of the possibility of misclicks.
- Yeah, I need a tutorial badly but ran out of time haha :(
- I think I'll either make this an option or just make it the default because it is a good idea. The only reason I didn't do this was that I was worried players might accidentally click something and not know how to unhide the tabs, but a tutorial would clear this up.
- This definitely feels like you have to go back and forth too much as it is haha. The reason I did it like this was just because it was easier to program this way. What you said is actually what I intended to do in the beginning.
- I'm still on the fence (pun) about adding walls/barricades because I wanted players to really feel like they weren't safe, and also that they needed to use the ordnance from the cannon. I think once I tune up the difficulty curve, there should be less need for barriers, but we'll see.
And love to hear that you actually had some fun playing! I spent more time than I intended playing your game too haha.
Cool! Yeah time in these hackathons are helpful to urge us to finish something up, but tbh I think its be nice if we’re allowed to edit our games after voting begins to start incorporating feedback from players! Like you, I need to add a tut to my game :)
Id love to try your game out again if you do add new stuff in the future :) Its really fun and very beautiful.
Nice tower defense game! :-)
Something that was a bit annoying were enemies shooting at you while hiding below the HUD.
I had a great time! graphics simple and effective, addictive gameplay. I played a fair amount of time and the difficulty seems to plateau a bit. But it has some potential for sure
I liked this a lot, I thought the artillery's dual purpose, being able to place turrets and target ordinance, was a nice touch. I would have liked some way of controlling the flow of enemies, perhaps a turret which slowed enemies down, or a wall that would force them to travel a particular path. A tutorial level would have also been handy, to get used to the various turrets and what they did. Overall a very good submission.
Really nice game! I like the light reflections on turrets and monsters. Seems like you change the sprite for it or did you use 2d light?
I had issues with unresponsive buttons and stuck placement cursor when close to the shop tabs. Played the HTML, so maybe it was a browser issue, I'm on latest Firefox on Ubuntu. I had to click on other buttons to "unfreeze" it.
The details in the pixel art is just amazing. I loved the graphics. Great job there. I played for about 6-7 minutes and thought that it was too easy. But then things starting to collapse :P. Nice collection of defence weapons. First I thought the health kit was a weapon and kept wasting my money on it LOL before figuring things out. I had some issues when choosing the placement location of the turrets, but I guess this was an issue with the built-in browser game only. Overall, this is a nice little tower defence with great graphics.
I'm testing on a Mac with a trackpad. And the issue was that when I click on a turret and move the red marker across the moon area, it would be stuck an a location and I'm not able to move it. I've tried the game again now, and it seems to be OK with no issues. It could be that the game was detecting clicks as I moved my fingers across the trackpad and the turret got place correctly, but I thought that it was stuck. Maybe adding support for keyboard movements as well would make placements easier for me, or maybe I should've just used a mouse :P
Nice tower defense game. Well done!
If you like platformers, check out our game - Lumi and the Dark Night.
Awesome game! The art style, graphics and special effects are great and I like the feel of the game. Although I'm not a fan of tower defense, but I liked this game. But after a while, the game becomes very difficult and I'm completely swept away. It would also be interesting to have regular troops (infantry, armored vehicles) in addition to the towers.
Hey CrazyFizik,
Thanks for playing! Yeah the difficulty curve is one of the things I did last and definitely need to work on. It gets too easy for a bit, then just becomes impossible almost. I have thought about adding mobile troops, like tanks and stuff, but I want the Ordnance/Space cannon to be a big part of the game still.
Amazing tower defense, I really liked graphic. I was thinking about saying gameplay was too easy, but after 10 minutes it became more challenging
Great work! The gameplay works well and I've managed to survive for ~10 min, with a good progression of the difficulty IMO. Congrats on some really good pixel art and animation work!
I did have some technical issues due to some methods being called on "previously freed instances" in Godot, which can lead to outright crashes of the game if not handled properly in a release build. I sent a PR with a stopgap solution :) As a general rule you should make sure to review and fix any errors that are raised in the debugger while playtesting the game, as any unhandled error in a debug build can mean a crash in an optimized release build (which trades safety checks for performance).
Thanks for playing! I think I still need to work on the difficulty curve a bit but I'm glad you liked it!.
When did you encounter the bugs? I wasn't getting any errors or warnings in the editor. The only thing that is a lil sketchy is in the title screen, I am using the get_tree().create_timer() method instead of timers (which I am going to change) which I put a bandaid patch on which seemed to fix it.
The game crashed right on the main menu for me after some time (due to the issue in the rocket bullet script), and if I started the game quickly enough to prevent that, it would crash due to the `Global.Base` being an invalid instance.
Godot has this tricky behavior where a node freed with `queue_free()` does not assign its previous references to `null`, but to something called a "previously freed instance". That doesn't evaluate as `false` when you do `if target:`, and thus it would then try to call methods on the previously freed instance, triggering errors (in debug mode) or crashes (in release mode).
I suggest you give it a run with Godot 3.2.4 beta 3 which does a better job at reporting these issues than 3.2.3 stable.
That's a quality tower defense game! Excellent gameplay with towers, on shot abilities, upgrades,
aliens (big + for the zerg like visuals ;-) ). And very in theme!
Great job!
Just of curiosity: There is an ending or is it endless?
Hey thanks for playing!
It is endless, but I want to add a few more enemies to gradually come in and a boss like enemy that would be more static and take up a large part of the screen. Maybe you have to take out its tentacles to kill it or something idk.
I also wanted to add dialogue and involve a lil story, so maybe I could make a beatable mode and a survival mode. The story is that the US gov knew there were aliens on the moon and deployed you at this mining base anyway, and the reason you have to pay for earth to defend your base is because they need to make sure your mine is worth the investment it costs to protect. So it would be cool to add an ending and then display some stats like #turrets lost, #upgrades purchased, etc.
Thanks for playing!
14:52 is great! The difficulty curve is a lil messed up and around 14 minutes in it gets wayyy hard. My best it 16.12 I think. Definitely something I neeed to spend some time adjusting! And I am considering continuing development for sure! could work well on mobile I think.
I will def give your game a try!
I really enjoyed this! The way the little guys scuttle towards your base and the details of the drill station and earth bring this to life. The start was a somewhat challenging and then it got a bit too easy, maybe because my turrets were upgraded. I like the idea of balancing direct attacks with upgrades and turrets, and I bet a couple more enemy types could really bring that forward. Cool game!
Thanks!
Yeah I need to adjust the difficulty curve for sure. I also want to add more enemies, but art tends to be the limiting factor for me. I actually wanted to have animations for the enemy attacks, as well as totally different sprite for the turret upgrades, but didn't get a chance to do that.
I am having trouble running your game in browser and I'm on mac so I can't download. I know its me somehow because it looks like others have played your game in browser, so i'll try again later.
