Absolutely charmed by the art style and animations - they're super lovely. The characters too are wonderful! Really excellent style, as is the level design. I struggled at points in recognising when to attack and when to defend, beyond simply learning their patterns, but I imagine that was probably the point! The attack/defense feels like a good mechanic to incorporate, and keeps the game engaging.
Really cute, really well done!
The art style is great. I have to agree with Frib's comment that this game is repetitive. I have not yet encountered a new enemy but so far I had nothing to do but walk forward until I run into mushroom guys.
Nice game, liked it, the graphics are cool like the sounds, well done !
Judging by the other comments, I'm probably one of the few people that did not really find this game fun :( I found it to be very repetitive. There's no player choice in exploration because there's only one way to advance. And the combat is only interesting when you encounter a new enemy, after that it's just repetitive. So during the whole playthrough there were 4 moments in total where I had to figure out how beat a new enemy, and the rest of the game was just filler with no player agency.
However, it does look and sound nice! I just didn't find the gameplay engaging at all :(
Fair analysis, I think you hit on the major problems in the current game design. For this jam we were focused mostly on exploring a unique graphical style and exploring a new combat system which we could hopefully improve post jam. We basically cut everything else out and focused on polishing that.
We will need to explore ways to improve the feeling of depth and agency in our game in the future.
Thanks for taking the time to write honest feedback and for playing :)
Really nice looking game.
Combat mechanic is fun, though a bit repetative once you learn patterns of attack. Monsters are very cute. Ending death animation was really nice though ;)
I liked it overal, though I am not sure if it being so much railroaded is a good idea... A little bit variance in walking around could do it some good, I think!
Thanks for the delicious lunch!
Loved the art in this entry and the music and sound effects were a great match.
My only real complaint is that the game is short… I need more! I hope you’ll consider making a post jam version for those of us that would like a second burger… ;)
Got my burger, the game is ultimately a bit basic but the presentation (both visuals and sounds) is very good.
A great submission by this team
Pros;
Great pixel art
Original concept designs and UI
Simple to learn, simple to master
Short but sweet
Cons;
Duality theme idea is a bit scarce but carries through
A bit repetitive but the overall length of the game mostly counters it
Overall;
A cute little dungeon crawler, would not mind a longer version of this game with aa little more exploration!
i don't think i've played many dungeon crawlers with 2D environment art, love it!
i wish there was a bit more feedback during combat, it was hard to tell how to make it through encounters without dying
Burger acquired, neato
I really like what you did with those 2D graphics, the gameplay is engaging enough but it get repetitive pretty quickly, nice one overall
Certainly one of the best entries! Please make a full game like this!
Cute and fun. The pattern mechanic was refreshing! Sound/music is excellent and overall nice vibe.
Would have loved a bit of exploration but can't complain, since the game was catchy and I got my burger :D

Awesome game, loved the art and music and the concept was really cool, im pretty glad that dying doesnt restart the whole game haha. I usually dont notice the cover art, but great job on that too!
