Very sophisticated effects/lighting/sound design!
Though it is a very cohesive package for a 7-day project, I am not sure the orb-clicking adds much to the game as it is – with the notable exception of the ‘health’ one, they seemed to feel the same. In a longer project I think it might work better with more ties between the theme of the challenge and the orb defense segments? Undertale’s combat gimmicks would be the most obvious example of tying ‘bullet’ gameplay to other things that are happening, while aided by text and art.
Thanks for playing! Yeah, the orb game was a very last minute addition added purely to satisfy the ‘combat’ goal that we sort of overlooked. We never intended to have anything too challenging, the original pitch from my fellow developers being that it was more of an experience. But you’re totally right, Undertale really did well with its combat mini games!
Hey, thanks for the feedback and for playing! The orb mechanic was intended as being a simple, easy-to-complete barrier for players, though with more time we absolutely would have loved to have incorporated more variety between each challenge, and your idea for keeping them thematically linked to each individual challenge is a great idea! Should we find the time to come back to this in future, that's definitely something I'd like to work on!
Came for dungeon crawler, stayed for life lessons.
This is amazing.
You have won Dungeon Crawler Jam: Games for Impact category.
Thanks for playing! Really glad you enjoyed it :)
This is a very nice and soothing experience. It is not a classical dungeon crawler with monster-killing, but like an adventure with riddles. But this is a very nice change of pace. Navigating the world and solving the riddles was quite relaxing. The presentation and graphics felt very professional. The soundtrack was great too. The riddles were quite varied, like walking around "the block" several times like the water, haha. So it it never got boring and instead I wanted to see the next mirror. The messages in the sky were also a nice touch.
Overall it was a nice complete experience I could play directly from start to finish. Well done, I enjoyed playing this game very much. :)
Thanks for playing and your detailed review! That’s awesome that you enjoyed the game :)
Hi Maddie,
Thank you so much for your thorough review. It's really appreciated and we're super happy you enjoyed it, too! It's really nice to hear that you enjoyed it all the way from start to end, as we wanted a complete experience and I'm really glad you felt that.
Thanks again for your comments and I hope you enjoyed the Game Jam too!! ^^
This was an interesting, atmospheric experience full of visual details.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Nice game, very calm and atmosferic. Maybe you should to make more mechanics.
Thanks for playing :)
Hi Twink1e! Thanks for checking out our game. We're glad you felt those things as that's what we were hoping for! And thank you for the feedback - point taken on the mechanics! 😄
Best of luck with the jam of course!
Great looking game. Easy and relaxing to play. The audio was good. The missile command style minigame for "combat" worked well. It was very easy to complete, we didn't get a sense of jeopardy at any point as the circles moved very slowly. More like Zen training than a dungeon crawler we felt, but very nicely done. We weren't sure when you'd picked something up, like the apple, as it just stayed in the same place. Well done for creating such a novel and cute experience. Bets of luck in the jam.
Thanks for playing! That’s unfortunate about the apple, not sure why you weren’t able to pick it up… Glad you enjoyed it, though!
We did manage to pick the apple up, we just couldn't tell that we had picked it up since it didn't move in the scene until we stepped backwards.
Hey Rebello, really appreciate you checking it out! Very happy you enjoyed it, and we definitely wanted to communicate a low-stakes zen feeling too - glad that came across! Very sorry though you had the apple issues. No idea why you had apple issues, but then again, I'm a humble artist!! 😅
I've got your game earmarked for trying out tomorrow. Looking forward! Best of luck in the jam for you too. 😊
What a cool concept! The variety with all the spirits was super nice, especially with their designs. I think it would have been nice if the turning was a bit faster, but otherwise I have no complaints! It actually made me step back and reflect, so you guys succeeded with your goal!
Thank you so much! We're really glad you enjoyed it and appreciate the feedback 😄 Point taken on the movement of course, and I hope you had a lovely game jam too!!
Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed the game :)
Welp, I am humbled. This game is just about perfect. But, I accept my human (gamedev) limitations and will be like water.
Quite an astonishing feat to pull off such a well thought out, beautiful and complete game in 7 days. Kudos. So much content!
One of the few games I played through to the ending.
Wow!! Thank you plexsoup, those are such incredibly lovely things to say 🥰 Now I feel humbled! It's hugely appreciated! The game was so fun to make, and I'm really happy you enjoyed it too. Thank you for playing it all the way through!
And I hope you had a really fun time with the jam too!
Thanks so much for playing and your kind words! :)
Great fully complete project. One of the best so far for me. Graphic, mechanic - all original and very well implemented. I love what you did with "acceptance" mechanic, very smart approach. Well done!
Thanks so much for playing! Glad you enjoyed it :)
So kind!! Thank you for your comments and for playing, too! It means a lot. Best of luck with the Game Jam too! 😊
This was interesting.
I liked the scooby doo ghosts leaving the images in the mirror.
The "ombiance" was maintained by the music.
I enjoyed the "missile command" minigame fight thingie.
So it was weird, but a good weird.
Thanks for playing! Best of luck with the stream :)
Hahaha, thank you!! And thanks for playing too 😍 good weird is exactly what we were hoping for!!
This is SO LOVELY and creative and wonderful. One of my favorites of the jam no doubt. I did get stuck at the hunger mirror... I got 2 apples and gave them both to the marshmellow friend. Was I supposed to give them to myself? I could not find any more apples. :( So yeah I'd love for one of you other folks to tell me what I did wrong so I could complete the story. :)
I’m glad you had a good time!! You are definitely supposed to give two apples to the marshmallow friend. The first will change the text from hungry to ‘more… food’ and the second will clear the path!
That’s such a shame it bugged for you, that’s so unusual! If you ever feel like having another go, the remaining puzzles are some of our favourites (so long as marshmallow friend leaves this time…).
Someone posted a walkthrough in the comments of our game! You might find it useful if you decide to try again. :)

EDIT: Just ignore the fact that they walk backwards out of the map at the start… 👀
Such praise! You're too kind! I'm so sorry to hear that you got stuck there though. I agree with Magpie - if you can get marshmallow friend to go away then the following puzzles are a welcome reward. 😊 Good luck with the jam!!
Nice graphics
Thanks for playing :)
That is beautiful. Not just graphics but overall vibe of it. Every mirror gives diffrent experience is amazing. My favourite ones are "Patience" and "Acceptance". Movement feels like I am passing 2 grid at once and orbs at "protect yourself" parts are too slow to be threat but doesn't effect main goal of the game much.
Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed the game :)
That's a really kind thing to say, thank you Laster! Patience is my fave too, but I love the animations of Acceptance! Thank you for the criticisms too, they're appreciated and it's helpful to know. 🥳 good luck with the jam!!
Cool game with a lot of different mechanics. I like the art style and the game feel cohesive. As a critique, the grid movement feels off. Its almost like I move more then one grid space at a time and this kind of at first messed with where I thought I was going to finish my movement. Fun game though I really enjoyed saving some ghosty friends!
Thanks for playing! :)
Thank you so much for playing and for your response! It's super appreciated, as are the critiques! 😊 Obviously we're expecting calls from a major publisher any moment now...
Really cool game! First one out of this jam I actually played till the end (I actually did not see your comment on my game before writing this, hah, what a coincidence). Location art style is nice and fitting, designs are really good-looking, the whole thing with night sky is very creative, idea as a whole is oh so cool, really enjoyed playing it, even if movement felt kinda unresponsive through the game. Love to see more creative ideas like this in this type of jams (:
Thank you so much for the response!! I'm away from desktop at the worst time so can't check out anything. But that's such a lovely review 😊 Good luck with the jam, can't wait to get back to PC to check out yours!
Oh no, sorry, i meant the review i got from one of your temmates, sorry if that sounded like i am asking for a review-- (still would be cool if you too checked it out, but no pressure tho)
Don't worry, I knew you weren't! I saw Magpie had commented on yours too - wanted to respond and show my appreciation 😊 (Got you in my DGJ23 collection when I'm free)
Thanks for your review! Glad you had a good time with the game :)
