A very nice game! The style is cohesive and feels a bit like an old arcade game updated to today's graphics. The gameplay was fun (especially after I remembered I had a dash, after a few waves)! I'm glad you added a way to skip the waves so I didn't have to redo them after dying to a boss.

Overall a fun experience, well done!

Developer(+1)

thanks! We would’ve preferred a way to respawn at current wave, but the skip was a last minute solution haha

No worries, I think it was completely fine, especially for a jam project!

I completed the game.

It's very good, I like that you put quite some sequences here.

The game makes very good use of the theme, it looks and sounds good, and it's very fun. Movement feels good, the special mechanics and the different enemies are fun to deal with. Finally the difficulty is perfect.

Well done, thanks for sharing.

thank you!

I love the idea of the zones, super creative way to implement the theme. I also really like how you start the round with just one enemy to introduce it. All around amazing job.

thank you!

I really like the neon visuals. Simple but cool. I feel the circle barrage of projectiles maybe should have come later, it forced me to leave the shooting zone more frequently than I would have liked, just because it took up so much space. I also feel their shouldn't have been reloading with the shooting since there's already a limitation of needing to be in a zone.

Once again really cool art. The music was neat. The boss idea was cool. Felt like a proper bullet hell game. I like the cracked visuals when enemies take damage.

Cool submission.

There's no reload for shooting, it just needs to happen in rhythm! Usually, clicking and holding should be the way to go. In a future release, this is something we'd like to fix by possibly allowing tap shooting, though it didn't really work too well in this iteration.

Thanks for playing!

Wow, such an incredibly unique idea! Moving between the beat zones to get my shots off felt really satisfying, especially with the way the dash was synced to the beat. I also loved the neon aesthetic and the color choices. My one feedback is that the first level is particularly difficult, the large size of the bullet patterns coupled with the small zones made it feel very cramped and difficult to move around. I would honestly prefer if the zones were closer to the corners of the screeen for this level, as it would give you more space to dodge between the zones. I actually felt it got slightly easier in the second level, once the zones were moving around. But other than that, this was a fantastic experience. Great work!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! We didn't have as much time as we wanted to balance difficulty, so that's why there's a level skip button, haha! It was a quick fix just so the entire game could be seen, regardless of ability to play. I also still struggle with the first level on normal difficulty, and I designed it haha!

Amazing implementation of the theme, I love how original it is, also it's a really good looking game, love the neon look, and reminds me to Just Shapes and Beats with those colors. It was fun to play good job

thank you!!

I think this is my favorite interpretation of the theme so far. It’s such a simple twist but adds so much depth, especially once the shooting zones start to move around.

Lots of content and tight game play, nice work!

Developer

thanks for the play!

Nice game! I really liked the look and music, and had a unique interpretation of the theme that made for some interesting gameplay!

Wow! I really liked the look of the game and the music/sound effects were really clean

Interesting take on the limited aspect, took me a bit to get a hang of but I think that was more me jumping in without reading the controls than anything on your end

Developer

we most likely should’ve included a brief intro tutorial, or had the controls within the game. Glad you liked it!

Submitted(+1)

really good overall, only managed to get past waver but everything to that point is very polished

Developer

thank you! it’s definitely difficult. I struggle with Waver still, haha.

This is a really fun game! Amazing work! The visuals and the music work together really well, and the box mechanic forced me to take risks, which made it really exciting.

I struggled with the controls a little in the beginning, shooting works best when the button is held constantly, but that is a little tiring, so maybe an autoshoot option would have been nice (or the rhythm sync script could have an exception if you click and don’t hold). The dash also felt a little inconsistent, but that might just be because I am not that good at the game.

I really liked how you introduced the new enemies always with an extra health restore, so that I could get to know the attack pattern without losing my health!

Overall, this is easily one of the most polished and fun games in the jam, well done you two!

Developer(+1)

that's very high praise, thank you! and yeah, autoshoot is a great idea

Happy to see that we were not the only one to incorporate some rhythm mechanics.
I really like the concept of an enemy that shoots from an untouchable turret, that's pretty original! I can see some inspiration from just Shapes'n Beats with the visuals, which is smart since it's a game jam and you can spend more time on other stuff. It wasn't too long nor short. It's a fun little game!
If I had something to criticize, maybe it lacked a bit of juice?
But all in all good job!

Developer

shapes n beats definitely had a hand in inspiring this project!

thanks for the feedback :)

simple but stunning visual. music and audio give a suitable vibe. the game system is easy to pick up and fun to play. good job

Developer

thanks so much!

Another seemingly unique take on the theme, really cool. Some more juice on hits would be nice and it took me a while to notice the health bar in the middle of the character. But overall a cool idea executed really well.

Developer

yeah that's a good point. thanks for the feedback!

this is pretty fun to play! the concept of only being able to shoot in the marked zones works well.

thanks!
