It was intended to be neon-like, however it wasn't working either, never realised. Maybe I could lower the effect on future versions

New version is here, and this bug is solved. I invite you to try it out and check it ^^

Okay, I know where the error may be, that happens on both levels I see, thanks for the feedback, as soon as I can continue with the project I'll solve it, it'll be corrected for the next version.

I've just read it. I'm aware about the tutorial text, I'll fix it now that the jam is ended. About the hits display, can you be more specific? Noone else seemed to have this problem

Thank you so much ^^ I had 1 minute left when I finished the game so I had little to no time to improve presentation, but as I will continue developing this game, I'll take your advice and make a proper banner and game page. Didn't want to change it during the vote phase because it may show there was changes and I want to avoid them thinking I'm trying to cheat or something hahaha

Honestly, I think you know how to dodge in the Limited mode if you read the only part readable of the tutorial XD However I know it's not "fun" to wait in the tutorial on the parts that there are no text, that'l be solved as fast as I can when the jam ends later today (and whenever Zelda TotK gives me a break XD)

(1 edit)

Beautiful and fun. Actually not much else to say, seems nice, just missing some polishing touches maybe, but nothing that actually matters for a game jam, well done

To be fair, I've read the story and I liked it so much I got excited and started playing right away hahaha so that may be my fault

This may be the winner, I'm saying it right now haha I love every aspect of it, the theme is soooo well integrated and in such an original way, I loved it. The visuals are great too, and the patterns with the little warning before them it's really polished. The music is really fitting, the sfx too, gosh I think I can't point anything bad yet, maybe it'd be good to explain the controls, but to be fair, they aren't that difficult.

Amazing job, congrats. I hope this becomes a full release ^^

Thank you for the comment ^^ I tried my best to mix rythm and bullethell as it was something I really wanted to do for a while and never started. The proper song is Scarab yeah, but it's not finished, sinchronizing the bullets to the music is really difficult and more time consuming than I expected, but I'm glad you liked it.

As you say, the window on that frame is too small, however if you hit the key exactly when the beat does, you don't get hit. I considered it as a minor issue to solve, because it was either that or too much room, but I have to tweak that, thank you for pointing that out ^^

yeah it was supposed to be explained in the tutorial, but again, it's broken. I've said it in a previous comment but you only miss the controls hahaha if you play the tutorial you can read the limited mechanic explanation but its not in the moment it should. Also you can play the tutorial to understand it better even without text, and enjoy the music too hehe

Thank you for the comment and for playing ^^ I'm glad you enjoyed it

Thank you a lot ^^ I never loved the hit SFX neither haha maybe I'll change it in a future

Thank you ^^ you'll have more songs in a future 100%, you can follow if you want to see any updates I'll make after the jam

Thank you very much ^^

Thank you ^^

I can see the potential, but too many keis involved, maybe 2 colors and one kills the other was enough. However it's interesting and with a bit of polish is gonna be great, good job ^^

Really cool looking game, and the audio is nice too. The controls are a little confuse tho, way too hard to properly aim for a bullethell too. I don't get why I can shoot while jumping, but I gotta say it's fun and implements the theme way better than many games here, just that, even if aiming is limited, that may not be the best Idea, but with polish I can see this game being a full release

It was interesting, a good design and love the audiovisuals. I didn't find the theme anywhere tho, I don't know what's limited. Also, I don't get why should I not choose health or speed over sanity. The dialogues have no way to get out unless you press escape and continue, that's kind of an issue. Overall is fun to play, just keep in mind those details

I died at 500 ish haha and yeah I've noticed, I'm the one who made a rythm game after all hahaha

I know about the tutorial bug I'm sorry. I'd make way more and more songs in the future hehe so I hope you keep enjoying it. And yeah, the bpm increases and so does the spawner shot speed, because they're correlated. And the point of the Limited mode was to sync the inputs with the song, not just the spawners hehe. Ty for your comment  and I'm happy you enjoyed it^^

Really cool and easy to understand. Also, I love the visuals and the details, I've noticed the song has 3 main notes, wich are the same than sounds whenever you pick up a light. I enjoyed it, it's addictive

Amazing audiovisuals, love the boss health bar, and the gameplay is cool, kinda repetitive but that's for me I guess. The only bad thing I can say is that the roll animation and walking animation are like floating in the air, but the jumps are beautiful, I liked it a lot

Yeah the first lines with the controls are kinda bugged, idk why because the unity editor shows them perfectly, but I posted a coment too with the controls, and also the important thing to read is how the Limited mechanic works. Thank you for your comment ^^

How cool is this mechanic? Bullets bounce so you can catch them and reload? absolutely love it. Really adictive game, pleasant to look at, maybe the hexagons make things way harder, but it's okay. Just have to say that the player hitbox is too big, I'd say you used the same size as the player sprite right? Maybe you could make it a little bit smaller than the sprite, so you don't get unfair hits

Fun game, I can't see how you put the theme in here but it was nice, maybe too easy to be called a bullethell. Also, when you die no end game menu pops so you have to alt f4, and a bg song would be good too. I enjoyed it overall ^^ great job

Amazing implementation of the theme, I love how original it is, also it's a really good looking game, love the neon look, and reminds me to Just Shapes and Beats with those colors. It was fun to play good job

I wished that too, but I had to spend like 4 days programming al the bullet hell engine, and like 3 days on my full time job XD However I enjoyed so much with this and turned out so good that I will continue the scarab song (with the big scarab being the boss) and I'll add more songs in the future. Follow me if you wanna see that ^^ and thank you for your coment

Absolutely beautiful look, I love the palette and art. Music and bullet animations makes it look like a retro megaman game, I love that. The hit cooldown to recover is great, and very smooth movement. Although I get where the theme is, I don't know if it's much present tho, but I can see this game having a narrative story in between levels and being a full release. If you need that story you can call me hahaha

Oh I see, my bad then. Maybe a bit confusing the same bar on enemies means another thing but it's okay

It's a fun game, I love the simple story behind it. Also, great result for a frameless and spriteless game, I don't know if people will se that as part of the theme but I do and it's amazing you did this so well in under 10 days

I liked it, it's pleasant to hear and the hitboxes are really well made, wich is not always a thing, so great job. Also, some patterns look beautiful and the bosses are all cool, except the squared one who shoots randomly XD I love the limited theme implementation, really original, good job

Really cool game, I can see it becoming a full release. The theme, the gameplay are great, love the idea of the typography and only 26 shots, one for each letter. Also, the distortion on the music when low on health is great. I'd only say that the kill effect and the heartbeat while on low health are too loud, but for the rest I think this is one of my favourites. Congrats ^^

I don't see the theme honestly, but it's a good looking game, and fun to play too. The sounds work perfectly with it and the options menu is something you don't see often. Just to mention, the mini health bar on top of the player doesn't work properly I think

Original implementation of the limited mechanic, I liked it. Kinda hard to avoid everything but enjoyable game. The dialogs may be a bit too fast for not native speakers but that's the only thing I can say hehe

Fun and polished, great physics and satisfying to move around, and I loved the audio, maybe the music could have some variations, because chiptunes might get repetitive, at least lower down the volume in pause menu would be cool. I enjoyed it even being a kaizo which I don't like at all, so great job

It's a funny game, love the Idea that some projectiles recharge your ammo. Maybe it'd be good to add a life recovery, maybe like 10% of drop at enemies death, but really cool to play. Love the bg parallax

I mean, I can see that you tried to make a game and upload it however it is to the jam, that's great to do, but I don't get it, as no controls were shown I don't know what I'm suposed to do

Really good game, beautiful audiovisuals, the double mouse button shoot for no reason is kinda weird but it's a good start for an interesting mechanic on separate upgrades for each shot maybe? Also, the kraken is kinda easy to dodge, as long as you keep moving, bullets don't move fast enough to reach to you.

In general was fun and beautiful to look at. Need a tutorial on how to make the minimap XD

I make the song bpm the timer, so whenever it reaches the beat I wanted, they shot, or stopped shooting for the continuous ones. The tutorial was sadly a bug hahaha however I'll solve it as soon as the jam ends. Thank you for your rating and comment ^^

Im not a fan of enemies either hahaha that's why I made spawners too, much easier and I like more the look of it

If you plan on making it a game after the jam, would be a good game too, you may want to create the patterns as scriptables, that's what I did, so they are invoked by the spawner at will. It just needs the angle rotation and shot speed and voila
