Got to love a game where all you have to do is repeatedly press LMB over and over to win.

How to play it.

Did an Any% Speedrun, got 2:10.62 (minutes-seconds-decimal of seconds)

EDIT: Second attempt, got 2:2.40

EDIT 2: SUCH WOW Now i got 1:35.11! I can provide a screenshot for this attempt

EDITS 3 and 4: Fixed grammar errors

Oooo, nice run! I'd love to see this screenshot, it's so cool that you've taken the time to run the game! The last number on the time is the decimal of the seconds, I believe it is formatted as 2:10.62, but correct me if I'm wrong.

(+1)

Yes, it is formatted like that. Screenshot:

Is this ok

Developer

Sorry what’s the question?

oh, sorry, the picture didn't load. I've got 37 enemy kills out of 36 possible

Developer(+1)

yeah that’s fine, ya found an Easter egg

Outstanding idea and execution.

I am so glad I had some minutes to play and rate this game! This game is PERFECT! I love it! Best jam game I played

Submitted(+1)

Amazing. Reminds me a bit of devolver digital games with the superfast one-hit-kill one-hit-death mechanics. Super stylish with all the slowdowns, both in game and with the music. Seems like a really fun game to speedrun. Fantastic job, might be my favorite so far.

This game has the holy grail of game design - very simple mechanics that lead to fun and complex problems to solve.  The simple art style just adds to that feeling of the game.  Level design is top notch!

Submitted(+1)

Bruh this is the game I most liked so far, the level design is great with those spikes above the enemies strategically placed, and fits the theme soooo well. everything is perfect here

Submitted(+1)

Damn, this is probably one of the best games of the jam so far. The difficulty is almost prefectly tuned (I has to stop after a while because of a section with 4 guards I couldn't pass), and the slicing mechanic feels sooooo satsfying to use. You feel almost omnipotent with this, and yet the game still manages to be challenging at every level. I also like how you play with the pitch of the music when you die. It must have been a pain to code.

I hope you don't mind if I keep your game on my PC for a while, I need to show it to my friends ;)

Submitted(+1)

How do I say this? I think this might be one of the best entries in the jam to be completely honest. You've come up with a very unique and great gameplay concept that works fantastically well, the graphics, sound and animations are all very polished, coherent and help to create a very lovely gameworld alltogether! It was fun as hell too, especially when I came up with a genius plan to make a few perfect dashes crush multiple guards. I think it speaks volumes for you as a game designer that you actually managed to also squeeze in lots of polish, like for example when the note of the pickup sound changes after ever new diamond you catch, or how the music slows down after you've died. It's all very cool stuff that makes a great game, and shows that you've made many games before. The only bug I encountered was that one diamond got stuck under some rubble and I couldn't dash there to catch it, but it might've been my fault for not thinking about it. It's funny how I didn't even really use WASD that much, the dashing was so much fun. Although the game is a little easy right now (maybe the dash radius is even a little big), I really think this could be a very unique main mechanic if you choose to expand upon this game after the jam. Good job!

wow dude, thanks so much for the chunky comment! It’s great to hear that you like the game, I’ll keep working on elevating the game to perfection. The difficulty of the game has been a common comment, I’ll experiment with more difficult obstacles, including snipers who’ll immediately kill you if you enter their line of sight. I’ve also got an idea for a really cool sequence, which should also be reasonably tough. Thanks for the feedback!

Nice.Rate my game also.

A truly unique concept. Makes you feel almighty until you get hit by a hail of bullets :D

I believe with a bit more polish it could make a quite fun Android game. Best of luck!

Developer(+1)

Hey, thanks for playing and for the feedback! Firstly just wanted to comment that the game will never go mobile, just cos the mobile market is a sketchy place I’d rather not go. I am interested to know what other polish you think could be added? I’m aware that the cutting occasionally bugs out, but do you have any other ideas for polish?

Submitted(+1)

It's really unfortunate you don't want it on mobile... The setup and controls are a perfect fit for touchscreen, since technically you don't really need WASD to move. It would be awesome if you reconsidered it :)

As for the polish suggestions, here's what I think should be added/modified:

  1. Death animations. Right now enemies just become stiff and change color when they die. It would be nice to add some kind of animation to it.
  2. Gems. For some reason gem images seem a bit out of place. IMO they're too big and have too much detail for such a simplistic artstyle. I think you should look into slightly modifying their look.
  3. Punch sounds. The sounds you make when you punch through something are a bit bland for such an awesome action. They should have more oomph to it, be more snappy.
  4. Cutting through enemies. That speaks for itself. Would be cool if you could kill enemies not just by dropping stuff on them, but by punching through them as well.
  5. Click spam protection. Right now, it's pretty easy to pass most levels by just spamming leftclick everywhere. You can't die as long as you don't punch into an enemy. I don't think it was intended that way, which is why I believe that you should either implement some sort of punch limit (cooldown for example) or slightly tweak some levels to make it harder to clickspam them.
  6. Player death stutter. Sometimes the game stutters when your character dies. You probably know about this already, but still thought I should mention it.

That's about all I can think of off the top of my head. The game is really good as it is, but I think these little changes will make it even better :)

Thanks, I agree with most of that! I’m still not porting it to mobile tho...

I’m working on updates for the game, and considering taking it further (perhaps steam?) This feedback will be super useful!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

After your awesome feedback, I definitely owe you an explanation as to why no mobile. It’s mainly due to mobile gaming culture. People expect mobile games to be free and have weeks worth of levels and new content. I am fundamentally opposed to in-game advertisements, so if I were to make it free, I’ll just have to go hungry. The game is also too fast paced, the average level takes no more than 30 seconds to complete. To make bulk content will require hundreds to thousands of levels, and the levels in the game are too intricate for me to make that many. I could make a shorter, premium game, but I would never get any visibility on the App Store and have very few ratings, which would make it hard for others to know if the game is worth the money (hence even fewer purchases)

Hopefully that clarifies my thought process regarding mobile gaming. Anyways, with the extra processing power and graphical capabilities, I think I can offer a better pc experience. Thanks again for your feedback!

Submitted(+1)

Oh wow, I really appreciate the explanation! You're totally right, and to be honest I didn't think about it from this point of view. You made me change some thoughts on this subject. Thanks a lot :)

Submitted(+1)

Liked your game lot.
I played only few levels. Didn't find use wasd and jump as I was dashing through everything. Killing enemies felt little hard but satisfying too.  You have to tweak some levels as found some later level easy. May be you can find some puzzle system with this mechanics.

Sound and Visuals are great. loved the minimalist style.

Great job on the game.!!

Developer(+1)

Hey, thanks for playing! I have to inquire further about difficulty tho, you say that enemies are hard, but levels are easy? You also say you only played a few levels, so isn’t it natural for the first few to be easier? I’m not saying you’re wrong, just interested in hearing your perspective.

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

I was completing levels with enemies this way the levels are easy. But if I tried to kill enemies (which is not needed to complete the levels that i played) levels becoming harder .

Gameplay is like

Ignore enemies - easy

Tried killing - hard

May be you can add a score system for killing enemy or mandatory to complete  some levels.

Had a play of your game in this video here - at  36:23 -, where I give my thoughts while I play. Hopefully it's helpful feedback.

If you have time I'd greatly appreciate it if you could give my game a go to, happy jamming

Time: 4:55 Enemies Killed: 21/36

Very nice concept and implementation!

I have found no bugs or serious issues. So, very well done!

Submitted(+1)

I really like this game. Original idea and it fits the theme. The sound is also matching with the game. I killed 16 enemies :)

Submitted(+1)

I really like this game! The mechanic with punching through walls is super impressive (I've had some unpleasant experiences with Unity meshes in the past, so the entire system is really impressive to me) and fun to use. The artstyle is clear and defined, and the soundtrack really adds to the feel. The only real major issue I could find was with the levels being a bit too easy at times. You can get from one side of the screen to another in practically no time, which makes some levels far too easy. But other than that slight nitpick, really enjoyable!

Perfect!

Really , all aspects of the game are AWESOME,

the design is great and beautiful the audio and sounds are really good.

the Game mechanics feels very good and responsive !

That was very innovative and fun! It was so satisfying to make stuff fall on my enemies, or to take the ground from under them. It was pretty easy, but I didn't really mind. I like how the gameplay and level design supported different playstyles - I could do a pacifist/genocide -run or a speedrun. Hard to come up with anything to criticize. The slow-mo when taking a bullet was too long for me. A level select would've been nice, and the ability leave the game before the end.

Great game, a bit too easy. I managed to speedrun it in 1 minute 37 seconds.
