Please, Finish This Game! is a classic 2D platformer where everything goes as it should. Just reach the finish line, avoid the traps and enjoy the gameplay, because nothing will go wrong, even if you want it to...

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?

Pretty cool game! simple and short, but I had to take a peak at the comments to know what to do

What an amazing entry! There are small things like small grammar inconsistencies (I saw one, there might be more) and not teaching the interact button, but this is ok. One thing that I would criticize harsher is making coyote jump mandatory (or nearly mandatory, not sure). Coyote jump is great to make the player feel good when they "lag", eyes deceive people and it serves as aligning our expectation with reality. But the moment you make the coyote jump necessary its usefulness becomes a burden. Otherwise I really enjoyed the dialogue and the concept, really fun! Maybe the dialogue at the beginning is a touch too long too.

Thank you so much! Honestly, there is a coyote time in my game, but people didn't feel it... So I think I should tune it:)

I will also check your game!

There is indeed, but it feels mandatory for some jumps. It is used to make the player feel like there expectation of where the ledge ends meet the reality! In your case unless you rely on the coyote jump you will miss most of the time, because you need to jump right at the end or after the end of the ledge. All I am saying i that coyote jump is quality of life and not a mechanic to build a level or jump around it.

Very fun game! Really polished and well made. Would love to see more levels added in the future.

it was very fun!!! thank you!!!

Cute fun game! Trying to make something go wrong was fun! I don't know if I am a fast reader but it would've been nice to speed up the dialogue or have an option to skip (after reading of course). Nice job!

This was a fun one.

I don't think I saw another game on this jam focus this much of dialogue.

This is a hidden gem. Really well made!

loved the idea! laughed at smooching devil :D my only critique would be that jumping could be more forgiving?..

This was a very fun game! Reminded me a lot of the Wheatley levels of Portal 2. I believe on the last level, I accidentally triggered some dialogue on top of dialogue that was supposed to give me a hint as to how to solve the final puzzle, so that one took me longer than normal to get to the end of. But other than that, and some of the jumps in the second level giving some trouble (mainly the first one haha) I would say job well done! I loved the art and all of the systems were well put together, some extra polish and levels is all this needs to become a complete picture!

A really original take on the theme, I love it. A fun gameplay too. Some feedback: it would be nice to have an option to skip some dialogs. Also the jumps mechanics could be improved a little (adding some coyote time and things like that). That aside, I love it, good job, congrats!

Developer

Thanks! There is a coyote time actually;)

Anyway, the controls need some polishing for a better user experience, some jumps were pretty difficult. Good work anyways, pretty nice entry!

I liked the concept of the game and the puzzles at play. Some of the ways in which the game interacted with me was very charming. My one comment is that the movement could probably feel a bit better with fine-tuning of the speed and jump trajectory. I often felt like I was expecting a bigger jump or a slightly different jumping arc to the one the character actually made.
Overall, a great jam entry!

The game is very well made, completed it to. I like this type of games with a twist. The pixel art is very good looking. good luck!

I enjoyed it and would definetly play more levels. I agree with other comments, that some of jumps are hard to do

This was super clever, loved it! Very Stanley Parable. Only thing I would have liked was the ability to speed up the text when it takes control away from you, I was often ready to get playing before the game would let me. Great work!

Thank you very much!

Awesome twist and interpretation of the theme! The puzzles were also fun, I wanna see this as a full game like the game said haha. Good job on this! My only real complaint is some of the jumps were sometimes annoyingly tight.

I like your take of the theme! It was a fun experience, I'm very satisfied making the game mad! I'm really bad at platformer games and usually end up dying a lot of times without getting to the finish line. So playing a platformer where I actually had to die was very refreshing!

This was a fun concept! Love the audio and the gameplay actually accounting for every one of the players moves was great! Id say the only thing that could be improved is the talking speed or adding a skip button, also a few jumps were quite hard but still epic game!

Submitted(+1)

Cool concept, minimal but great art style, and fun gameplay. Very enjoyable overall. The only thing that was slightly annoying is not being able to skip dialog. Still, even more impressive it was done by just one person. Good job :)

Loved the speech sound effect, sounds that pop on every letter with a different pitch. Loved the the moods of the narrator speaking, it was funny! Great job

Submitted(+1)

Really liked the character and the game that talks to you as a narrator. The problem is that I'm stuck with the scene with shadows on the ground and nothing happens, the game is telling me in loop that I can try to beat my time or something... Any help? Did you try Angry Shepherd?

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I played your game, it’s cool!

You stuck in the end of first level, if you walk a little under the shadows, the game will say that shadows are from invisible tiles. So you should try to jump into them (imagine there are tiles 2-3 squares above the shadows)

Ooooooh right! I have to give it another try, I'm so stupid! I thought something will drop from the sky ^^
