That was really really good, it reminded me a lot of the game Dreaming Mary.

The writing is also really good, I got both endings just to get more lines from the characters!

Developer

Thank you so much! I’m glad you liked it!

What a cosy game, I love the art style and the characters are very peculiar and cute! The dialogue had a good balance of funny and strange which moved the story along nicely, the platforming felt a tad off but there wasn't a punishment for failing which was nice :) Overall it's a lovely experience, thanks for taking the time to make this :D

Developer(+1)

I'm so glad you liked it! This was my first time making a platformer, so I knew that it probably wouldn't be perfect. That's why I made it impossible to "die" or fall off the map. If I ever make another platformer, I'll definitely try to make the platforming better! I saw your comment on my community post and will check out your game when I get the chance!

can you rate ours

Developer(+1)

I will when I find the time!

Loved the art style, both the pixelart & portraits!

The dialog was also good, it gave the vibe that something was off, without being too obvious/obnoxious about it, congrats!

Developer

Thank you so much! I'm glad I was able to convey what I wanted. Thanks for playing!

Your game really sets a mood, well done ^_^ I love the characters too

I tried playing the game again to get the second ending but I think one of the items didn't appear? :O Maybe I'm going crazy o_o" but shouldn't the shade girl leave after I go there though?

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Did you talk to Joy beforehand to get the watering can? You need that in order to collect the water! I'm sorry if that was confusing. Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

OHH I'M SO SILLY!!! #defeated

Do I need the water for the 2nd ending? :O

Developer(+1)

That's completely fine! It might not have been too clear. And yes, you need all the items for both endings.

It's very nice especially with the atmosphere and art! It's a nice compact but packed story and the gameplay feels solid, while the platforming isn't very fluid it works fine without issue. And there's a bit of a world to explore.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I got some other comments about the platforming. If I ever make another platformer in the future, I'll be sure to try to make it more fluid. Thank you for playing!

Lovely game, nailed the cute-but-uneasy atmosphere! The story is short, but what is there in terms of dialogue and cutscenes works well and both endings feel complete. I really liked the character portraits, the low-res but not quite pixel-art style fits well with the rest of the visuals. The tileset is a bit simple, but works pretty well thematically, giving off a bit of childish vibe.

Some feedback if you want:

  • text is quite blurry, a higher project resolution for Dialogic and all other text and sticking the low-res platforming world into a subviewport would be a solution. Another would be using a pixel font at the right font size.
  • a few transitions are pretty jarring, with the default clear color being briefly visible.
  • the platforming controls are pretty stiff, I'd suggest adding some camera drag and smoothing, as well as accelerations to the player character (accelerate to your target jump/run velocity over a few frames instead of instantly setting it).

Nice game still, I had a great time playing!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed my game! I had no idea about the text and the blurriness so I'll try to look into it to see if it can be fixed in the future. And yeah, I noticed the jarring gray transitions, but wasn't sure how to fix it and didn't have time! I'll definitely try to fix that in my later projects. Thanks again for the feedback! I'll be sure to implement them in my future projects.

I got both endings! Great little game! If I had one small piece of feedback, it's that I think spacebar would be better for jumping (and progressing dialogue) than using W and mouse click. Good luck!

Developer(+1)

Hey, thanks for the feedback! I just checked, and the spacebar seems to be working for jumping and progressing dialogue on my end. I’m not sure why it wasn’t working for you—maybe it’s a bug! I really appreciate you letting me know!

How many sheep did you have to find? I found two, and then I kind of got lost.

Developer

There were 3 that had to be found! Sorry if that was confusing!

I love this game! The writing is really good and the story is very compelling! I've experienced both endings, and I really like the atmosphere and flow of the story. The art is really cute, the whimsical colour palette really helps sell the whole premise of the world being seemingly perfect. The characters are all beautifully designed. Each character feels unique and has a different personality. The music also had a big impact on the overall atmosphere, you've designed this game very well! Overall, this was a very enjoyable and captivating experience. Good job!

Developer

Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it! I try my best to make my characters the best they can be!
