Glad to hear you liked the overall presentation of all the art elements! I do have to agree that the gameplay is very lackluster and definitely deserves far more polish and features. I also agree that the hammer is a little pointless, but I'm not quite sure I understand how the pH Meter doesn't affect gameplay? It tells you which glasses are safe to dip in, which can save you if you're low on points. I definitely agree that there should be a few more mechanics that affect the strategising part of the game. Regarding the opponent's point counter, I was actually intending to add it in but I ended up forgetting. There is however a subtle hint as to who is currently winning at the start of each round. There is also a way to lure the opponent into choosing Acid by using Power-ups, but it's very hard to do. The opponent is also coded to behave differently based on if they're currently winning or losing. Thank you so much for the feedback, I really appreciate it!
Nice game! I really like the gradual increase in difficulty, it's very smooth. I also like the way you've implemented the risk & reward in the form of more cookies spawning with increased difficulty. The leaderboard is a nice touch as well. The art is really cute, you guys did an amazing job with it! Overall a great game. Good job!
A very original take on the theme! The gameplay was simple but very fun, I enjoyed reading all the emails. One thing I would suggest to make the gameplay loop more interesting and to make determining what's spam a bit more fair is to add more ways of finding information about who is writing to you. For example having access to more documents (like the contract from the bank) or being able to access a web browser where you could maybe find more information about a company. The art was very nice, you did a great job with it. The music choice was great as well, it was very relaxing. Overall a great game. Well done!
This game is great! I really like how integral risking is to the whole gameplay loop and how playing it safe actually ends up being more dangerous than the risk itself. The whole game fits the theme perfectly in my opinion. The art is very cute and the music is great. They complement each other very well. Overall a very polished and original entry to the jam. Good job!
A very pleasant game! The idea and execution are both great and fit the theme really well. The art was really nice. I especially liked the music and how it changes with each level. The gameplay was great, I like the level design and how you really took advantage of the game's mechanics, like when the player has to use a rock to turn themselves a different way instead of relying on the turning blocks. One criticism that I have for this game is that the turning blocks weren't very clear to me because of the way they are drawn to be a circle, and I often ended up mixing up the directions. But that's just a nitpick. This game is a really good entry to the jam. Well done!
Glad to hear you enjoyed it! I had a lot of fun creating the game show idea and theming the game around it. Also really glad to know you liked the ending, I tried to add a hint of humour from something unexpected happening, so I'm glad to hear people like it!
I am aware of the bug where the third round repeats, it's due to the way the game is coded and I'd have to code the whole game from scratch if I wanted to fix it. It makes me a little sad that I couldn't release the game in a more polished state where the gameplay wasn't so buggy. Hope it wasn't too annoying!
Thanks for the feedback!
I'm very glad you liked it! It makes me really happy to know the gameplay felt like Buckshot Roulette. It has been a massive inspiration behind this game so I really appreciate that I managed to convey the same feeling!
Yeah I'm very annoyed at the bugs as well. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to finish the game in time and so I coded it very frantically. I would've loved to re-code it entirely from scratch so that it's done efficiently, but sadly I didn't have time to do so.
Glad to hear you got both endings! The check with the prize money is in the Golden Biscuit, you have to crush it if you want to take it out. Of course if you damage the check the show is not responsible and will not provide a replacement.
Thank you! Yeah the AI only using one item is sort of "intended". I meant to implement both of the items for the enemy's AI, but since the way I coded the whole AI behaviour was extremely unoptimized and inefficient, it made it impossible for the AI to actually use both items. Basically what ended up happening was that the AI would always use just one item and would never under any circumstance choose the other in any playthrough. So I sadly had to scrap the use of the second item.
When you use the Hammer (which the AI also uses), you take a glass out of the equation, which means your turn gets skipped. The Hammer is meant to be used so that you can choose a glass without having to face the consequences.
This isn't mentioned anywhere in the game, which is a big mistake on my part, but you and your opponent actually both have "lives". Cookies represent your lives, as you only have a set amount of cookies each round. If your Cookie gets dissolved in acid, you lose it, therefore you lose a life. If you run out of cookies before the current round finishes, the Host will end it and start the next one.
I really appreciate the feedback. Thanks for checking out my game!
This was a very pleasant and cozy game! I really like the idea, it's very original and fits the theme really well. The art is very cute, you did an amazing job! I especially liked the character designs. The character creator at the start was a nice touch. The music was very relaxing and fit the overall vibe perfectly. Overall a very original and interesting take on the theme. Well done!
A very unique take on the theme! I absolutely loved this, the gameplay was extremely well designed. You've absolutely nailed the risk and reward elements in this game. The western theme is very fitting and gives the game so much character. The art is very charming and the sounds complement it very nicely. Overall a very polished game. I will be returning to play this later for sure!
A very creepy game! You really nailed the atmosphere in it, it felt unsettling the whole time I was playing. The gameplay was fun and you did an amazing job in implementing risk as a gameplay mechanic. I also really like how everything in the game has to be constantly taken care of and never neglected. The audio direction was great, really helped sell the overall atmosphere of the game. This is seriously impressive for one week, you guys did an amazing job!
Nice game! The art is absolutely stunning! As a massive fan of westerns, seeing this game pop up in my feed made me instantly want to play it haha. The gameplay is very polished and satisfying, however I have a few small criticisms for it. The difficulty doesn't really seem to gradually increase, which makes the game quickly repetitive. I also feel that it would have a higher element of risk if you had to draw your gun as fast as you can instead of taking your time. Either way, this game was great and I had a lot of fun playing. Good job!
This game was nice. I really like the idea of a soccer player kicking cookies into ovens, it's really funny. I liked the gameplay loop and the overall experience is very smooth. I do feel that making all the skins free kind of removed a goal from the game, though. Regardless, I enjoyed this a lot. This game is really good for a first game. Good job!
This game is really cool! I really like the idea and the game is very well made. The cookie monster does tend to get stuck a lot, but I don't really see that as an issue. It adds a bit more difficulty to the game and makes it a lot more strategic. The art is very pleasant and cozy, the music complements it really well. Overall a really nice entry to the jam.
This game is incredibly cute! You guys did an amazing job with the art. By far one of the best looking games I've seen in this jam. The gameplay is really fun and the element of risk is implemented really well! The audio was nice, but I think I've encountered a bug where the music wasn't playing? The game was great regardless! You've all done an amazing job with this game.
This game was lovely! The idea is great and I love the art direction behind this game. The levels were really well designed and took full advantage of the game's mechanics. The music fits the art really well, too! I have no complaints about this game. The whole experience was really nice. Well done!
I love this game! The soundtrack was spectacular! By far the best music I've heard so far in this jam. The writing was very funny and gave so much character to the game. The art was also very well made. I didn't think it was inconsistent at all! The gameplay itself is really fun. I liked how every weapon had unique quirks to it, like the crossbow doing more damage but having lower fire rate or how the revolver took longer to reload. Overall a very polished and well made game. Well done!
This game is really well made! You really nailed the horror elements. I really liked the growing dread in the storytelling. It was written very well and you really managed to capture the depressing emotion of the characters' stories. It took me a while to figure out how to get all the endings, but I eventually managed to get all 4. The art is really well done too and fits the "haunted file" theme you were going for. Overall a great game!
