Pretty fun and cool game! My personal preference: I would like something to fall off the cupcakes, health or something like that.  Btw I found a way to easily kill cupcakes: hit and jump, hit and jump :)

Very good job!

The cupcakes must die!
I love this system of progression, I would probably make the game-loop a bit faster though so that, if you lose, it doesn't take too much time to really get in the flow again

Nice game and great art! I did have a bit of a problem with the attacking. It felt like the range wasn't the best. Like, I couldn't hit the cupcakes if I wasn't positioned just right. If I was even just a little bit below them, the hit wouldn't connect. I think it would be better if you either increased the range or added some kind of visual indicator of what the range is. Also, was there a way to heal? I wasn't sure. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Yes, there was healing at the end of each fight before the cards appeared. It's just a small initial percentage, but you could pump it up in the process.

I like the vibes, very cool! The music really complements the theme! Visuals feel very complete because there are a lot of animations and feedback when doing something. It's just that sometimes I forgot where the boundary of my current area is, so I got stuck by an invisible wall and died...

Fun game. Nice artstyle!

I expected health regen to heal me slowly throughout but it didn't. So I guess the systems could use a bit more clarity.

Developer

Healing happens instantly, right after a contraction..... Just the starting bonus to healing was too small... the testers did a bad job).

Nice game!

Those cupcakes are gnarly! This is a cool beat 'em up with nice art. Good job!

Cool game! I like the upgrades and the theming of everything. I think I would've preferred to be able to walk forward constantly with enemies only spawning ahead of me. It was a little confusing bumping into invisible walls with enemies surrounding me. I had a fun time, great job!

Amazing game! Love the art, the humor, the polished gameplay. - There doesn't seem to be a way to recover health? (I took the regen upgrade, but it did nothing.)

Developer

Health regeneration occurs at the end of each bout. And you only roll the percentage by which health will regenerate.

Good visuals with beat them up theme. A good one for a one week project.

Liked your idea with beating your enemies! But it would be good if settings for music where the same as for start menu and for game, so you wouldn't need to change it separately. Also sometimes my enemies bugged in one place

Good idea! Good beat 'em up! Good animations! Unfortunately, it's not always clear when you actually hit the enemy or not.

ive never had such a hard making cupcakes disappear, usually its very easy!!

Everything in this game made me laugh and genuinely enjoy playing. It’s such a cool game!

The visuals and animations are great, and I dig the music too. It says you made everything yourselves, which is even more impressive. Definitely one of my favourites of the jam so far.

Really like the visuals!

Thanks for the review!

I never thought I would be beating up angry cupcakes with a rolling pin but here we are! It was a very fun roguelike experience, I like the random upgrades you get as you progress! One thing I would suggest would be to have the borders of the level be more visible, there was a few times when I got stuck because I didn't know I was there. Other than that, it was very fun!

Developer

Yes, we really wanted to add a visual constraint, but fell a little short. You're the one who hasn't gotten to the evil sausage monsters yet) Thanks for the review!

nice game! the hitboxes seem a bit inconsistent though.. sometimes they can hit me when I can't hit them (even though they are in my reach)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Yes, it was our first time doing a side-scroller, so it was quite difficult to customize the collisions, but it was very interesting. Thanks for the feedback!
