The pixel art is cool and the QTE combat system is engaging!
It seems like attacking up or down has a much bigger hitbox than left or right, which left me constantly jockeying for a better position while fighting the faster slimes. It was so cool, reminded me of playing the earlier Ys games trying to get in the right position to bump somebody.
Not a lot of story but what is here is nice, I liked the sword talking to me like he only wanted to hang out with an adventurer who wasn't broke. Good job making something fun!
Thanks so much! That's really kind of you!
A neat and cozy game. Cozy zombies and neat slimes :). Traveling around feels interesting, especially by boat. The combat system adds creative action. I noticed a zombie head passing under the roots of a tree. Y sorting? I tried to kill a skeleton three times before realizing I needed to talk to it. That was unexpected but fun. I would love to see more plot twists :)
I especially enjoyed that you can roam around after defeating the final boss.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Your compliments are so nice. I can't wait to check out your game as well.
First of all, great dev concept. Liked the idea of such a collab.
The attack design is cool, however I don't see why you start with this type of randomized combo QTE, maybe it's best if you start with a simple hit on space and then find and unlock new attacks in special encounters (new creatures, bosses, etc.).
There's not much of a story going on, some side quests would do the trick. The motivation of main character is a bit vague, we don't get to know more specifics about him (like, say, monsters in Silent Hill impersonate the fears and deeds of the chars). But the gameplay is cute and it's fun to play, would be great if there were more content (level design is practically asking for it).
Thanks so much!! You have some great feedback, and we totally agree. The game is now open source, so we plan on continuing to add to it! :) If you're interested join our discord https://discord.gg/zpVFCQ2j
There is not enough content, but the gameplay, the visual and the settings. are on top. Interesting project.
UPD: This is a really interesting experiment in that as many as 14 people worked in turns. I don't envy the latter. In this concept, I liked the project even more.
Thanks for the feedback! We plan on continuing to add to the game. The project is now open source
Very cool project!
Thanks!
thanks m8
Super good concept for a jam and the game turned out great!
Awesome job all!
Thank you!!
It's truly incredible what you have achieved by passing the game from a developer to another. The game has pleasent visuals and innovative game mechanics. I didn't notice any bugs on my playtrough. Great job everyone!
Thanks a bunch!
An interesting spin on the top-down Zelda-like where every attack involves a little QTE. I'm more interested in the story behind the creation of the project where apparently a new dev worked on it every day with no direct collaboration and the fact that something playable and completable was created is not without merit. Some general polish issues persist - it's hard to tell what your hitbox is and sometimes enemies will just spawn directly in front of you (perhaps a result of Godot loading a new scene inappropriately) but a neat jam entry nonetheless.
It was the idea of bonsaipropaganda, and we all explained it a lot, like a lot a lot haha
Thanks a lot Jaybee!! I played Adrift btw and I loved it :)
A fantastic concept, the fact that 14 people worked on this individually is insane considering the game delivered. I fell in love with the arrow key combination system for attacks.
While the combat is engaging, the problem I personally have is that it's difficult to know where your own collider is and then constantly getting zombies attacking you. It took me longer than it should have to get the starting sword.
Once I got to the next area the slimes were moving so fast that I could barely get a hit in and kept dying.
But the NPC's, health potions, environment design, and attack mechanics is fantastic.
We have got that issue report from play testers too! we will be working on fixing it shortly, thanks for you compliment as well as pointing out the issue!
Considering how many people worked on the game, one day each!
It turned out pretty cool!
I can't imagine what it must've been like combing over thru other people's code, especially near the end xD
yeah, the last members of our team did a really code job putting things together haha
Attack is a neat idea, although I felt like it stops the game to a halt a bit too much, while the enemies can still damage you within the keypress pause screen. Nonetheless, very cute little game!
yeah we got that from a lot of playtesters, we'll fix em in the future patches(if any xD)
Nice game! It has an interesting attack mechanic, which has a lot of potential. I would also like to know more about the main characters backstory and future adventures. The dialogues were also good and my favorite is probably the sword. The graphics were nice and it is kind of funny when different art styles are mixed. One wish is that the enemies would have a shorter range. Great job!
thanks, maybe this game needs a prequel and sequel lol
Such an interesting combat mechanic!
I'd love to try a version where the attack keys aren't bound to movement and time/movement doesn't slow as much while attacking (although I'd probably be way worse at it then lol)
Is a cool experience nonetheless and had a fun time with the game! Congrats to you all!
awe, Thanks!!!
Diverse enemies and a not so small map. I am not a fan of the attack mechanic, but I see it actually did help to increase the mental engagement. Well done!
hehe yeah, We should've kinda made the attack stuff to "Insta kill" for that juicy feeling.
great concept and work from the developers!
the gameplay was very neat and I would love to see this type of mechanic if a fully fleshed game!
It's great to hear you want to see more! We've made the project open source and some of us plan to continue to add on to the game! :)
This was a really cool small game. I especially liked the zoom effect on the attacks. The batteling mechanic was really fun too.
Thank you!!
Precious lil game, particularly reminds me of Star Tropics. The battle mechanic feels a little off at first but I found myself really enjoying it after getting used to it. I found myself smiling most of the time, even upon failure lol
Hey im A98K, one of the devs
Glad you liked it:)
It's so nice to hear our game made you smile!! :)
This was a really fun game. I quite liked the attack mechanic. I also found killing mobs really satisfying so I just sat there killing mobs for the next five minutes despite already sitting on a ton of coins lol.
Great job guys!
Thanks, for the positive feedback, Maaz!
Thanks!!
