Great style, super polished and just really well put together! Not much more to say - well done :)

Really clever game! Visuals are really tight and effective and setting up a bunch of jerry's felt awesome! Great work!

The art is great, and the main mechanic is fun and well implemented. Getting the hang of recalling your bullet was super satisfying. Could totally see this being expanded on. Great work!

Loved the art style, very cute, and the mechanic of breeding different plants is really cool! Would love to see more of this :)

Really cool gameplay mechanics, a little clunky at first but can get pretty slick. Really like the art style as well! Well done!

You nailed the atmosphere with the silhouettes of the buildings against the sky. Very Halloween cartoon spooky vibes. I tried following along with the How to Play page, but I think mine must've bugged out a bit as I got in the house once, but it wouldn't let me back in on second try (would quickly switch in and out).

Seems like a really big project to undertake for a game jam though so great job getting everything done that you did!

Really clever use of the theme! Art style was really tight, and the gameplay was surprisingly tense. Great work with this!

What a cool puzzle! Feels like I'm stumbling around a bit, but I think that adds to the vibe of exploring a loopy house. Well done :)

love the paper style and really creative mechanics! found it really tricky managing the pacing but was satisfying when I got the hang of it

Really tight art direction and creative puzzle mechanics! Great job :)

Very cute and super polished! Took a little while for me to get the hang of it but once I did was really neat :)

What a polished game! Looks great, sounds great, plays great. I haven't managed to escape yet, but have checked on the hints below and will try again later. Congrats - phenomenal work

Love the sprite animation, and found the observation puzzles really cool! I also got stuck on level 5 for a while, but figured it out - stumbled through the light one and got a full on jump scare at the last sound lol. Very cool game great work! :)

Such a polished puzzle game! Sound was satisfying, art very cute and gameplay really easy to understand and fun. Great job!

tight lil rhythm game :) cool character and easy to get into the rhythm of it further along! Great job!

Thanks so much for playing! Really wanted to try channel that kid friendly halloween vibe for it, so glad it came through for you!

And yes there's a puzzle with the lamps on the wall in the library that gets you into a secret room with the clock you use to check that room. You have to figure out the rooms number and use the lamps to change and submit them. Defs needed some more direction with that one I think!

And the description has been changed thanks for the advice!

Thanks! Animation is definitely my favourite part of the process :)

Thanks so much for the kind words! I really love the art and animation side of game dev so glad that shines through :)

Thanks for the kind words James! I had a lot of fun with the art for this one! And yes I was a bit bummed to hear about the web build dialogue bug. ESPECIALLY because I'm sure it's like a 30 second fix :'(

As for the art style - absolutely take any inspo from it! I've been very inspired by Sable and such and it really helps you find your own charm!

  • I do all my modelling and animations in Blender - I just use box modelling for everything, and for this the characters have pretty heavy subdivision surfaces, as I was sure I wouldn't be hitting GPU bottlenecks with the game.
  • I stumble into character designs while I sort of doodle in 3D to figure things out. If I was doing something I was less comfortable making like a horse or creature, I'd defs whip out some references.
  • The animation I did with just some key poses and in-betweens and set the interpolation to constant for that choppy animated look.
  • The shader is "Toony Colour Pro 2" from Unity Asset store - I really like it, use it on everything! It has the overlay feature that I used for the hair, pants and orange handles.

If you have any other questions or wanna check out the assets feel free to shoot me a message!

Yeah, thanks for the heads up! I did a web build on a whim with 20 mins to spare so didn't manage to test it. Thanks for giving it a go atleast

Thanks for the kind words!

I had a lot of fun with the animations! Glad you liked them :)

Thanks so much for playing!

Yes it sounds like I needed to test the web build before submitting ~ooops~ Thanks for playing! The puzzle actually relies on the clocks - the lights indicate when you went the wrong way or not. Thanks for giving it a go!

Oh rats! Sorry about the aspect ratio! Only managed to build the game with 20 mins to spare and didn't test my web build. Thanks for playing though and hope you enjoyed the vibes atleast :)

Thanks for giving it shot! Will make sure to check yours out soon 🙂

Thanks for playing! And so fair with getting lost - didn't manage to playtest it enough and it is quite easy for things to get muddled with it.

Gonna pop some more hints on the page for people giving it a go!

Very well-done puzzle game. A good chunk of head scratchers, but still does a solid job of introducing elements. Very impressive length and game feel. Awesome work. Congrats!

Fun platformer and with a good handful of troll bits.  Really liked that main menu, very satisfying. Get zoinked off the platforms by the hammers/swords was good fun. Congrats!

Nice work with the style of the game, simple but really well executed. Is a great lil quiz game with some funny responses. Great work!

Really liked the idea platforming to get stuff out of reach across a school. Had to restart a couple of times after things fell through the floor but I did finish it. AI System is awesome especially for game jam. The only thing I really craved was over the shoulder camera, makes it easier to see what I'm looking at. Otherwise, a really tight clever game! Congrats!

You did a great job with the polished feel, and I really liked the metic design. Start game got me for a while there lol. Great work!

Glad you liked my goofy lil guys! Thanks for playing!

Wow thanks very kind!

Syncing the beat to song really killed me on this lol. Tried getting as close as I could but could still feel it pretty bad towards and of each bar.

Thanks for having a play!

Thanks for playing! Could totally imagine making it a bit longer and tighter/more varied on the gameplay front.

Heya,

I use a paid toon style shader plugin in most of my projects. Would this be allowed with this Jam? I noticed the "Assets allowed" but not sure if that just applies to models and such. Just a lil thing that'll help the graphics look a bit nicer.

Cheers!

(1 edit)

Would a game made fully in 3D, but using similar techniques to a short hike be eligible? It's more of a post processing style so just thought I'd check.

Thanks for clarification either way!

Yeah so fair. The input differences was one of the things I put off until 5am before the submission and decided to sleep instead haha.
