I've tried to play it twice. Both times I was unable to get the Light Step as there was no hot spot on it. The first time, in my attempts to get it, I accidentally triggered the door to the ship again and the camera got stuck in the view of the ship from the outside and stopped tracking the protagonist. In the second time I played it, I made sure to avoid that, but still couldn't get the Light Step. Took a long time to get around, but couldn't really find anything after finding the map markers and reporting back to the mayor, so I gave up :(
This is really nice! You’ve created a beautiful and immersive world with a ton of atmosphere. The art style is great, the music works well, and galloping around the desert on the light step is a lot of fun. The main area for improvement would be the dialogue system as others have mentioned. If you locked camera rotation during dialogue that would probably help.
Overall, a very solid entry.
Excellent art, characters and landscape. At the beginning my computer kind of slowed everything down because there was a lot going on. But once I crossed the bridge, everything started to work faster.
Having a radio with songs, that was great. Although the volume was not high enough to be over ambience. Still, the audio design has a lot going on which I really loved it.
Great submission here, congratulations on this game. It really looks awesome.
Aww man. I really wanted to play this game, but it doesn't seem to work on my ultrawide monitor for some reason. Not all the buttons are accessible in the journal (not sure how important they are), and the game also starts in first person (which might be intentional?). I might see if I can find some other way to play it so I can give it a rating.Edit: Tried it on a different computer, and it worked that time. On an ultrawide, the start button in the menu is off the screen. Visuals look amazing, sound design is on point, and it's an overall good entry! I especially liked the light step, there was just something satisfying about piloting it. Also, all the characters looked really good, was the shader you used on them custom or did you get it from somewhere else? I've been wanting to use something like that for a while, but I'm not sure how to make it/where to find it.
"Hey guys, before I leave: There are no, uh, sandworms out there, are there?"
The graphics of this game are stunning. And the use of colours is so well done. It captures the desert ambiance perfectly. The story looks interesting too, but I didn't finish the game. Had some difficulty getting into it. I tend to suffer from motion sickness, and the flight at the beginning was quite uneasy for me. On the other hand, it made for a pretty immersive experience. :)
The dialogue system with all its movements didn't help much either. I had to take a break from the game, but couldn't find a way to save my progress. Maybe I'll try again in the future. After all, I'd really like to see the whole story.
There was also a bug (oversight) hiding in the desert: After opening the door to the pirate ship, you can open it again from the inside, which brings up the dialogue again. I don't think it broke anything for me (at least not immediately), so it's probably not a big problem.
This game really stands out from the rest. The graphics are fabulous. As is the character design. The whole thing is very memorable. Really good work :)
Loved the art and colors, and the story piqued my curiosity.
It was quite enjoyable to play! (I lost myself in the desert though)
Story, visuals and sound were all top notch! This one is definitely up there with my favourites, incredible job! 5 Stars!
Wow thank you so much!
What an imaginative world that reminds me of Journey and Sable. Art and sound design are phenomenal. The dialogue was a bit tiresome to read when it went up and down on the screen all the time, but the story itself was good. Those light step -walkers are really cool. Great entry for the jam.
Thanks so much for playing! You're so right about the dialogue! I knew the dialogue system wasn't quite how I'd like it and was thinking it was the input, but the jumping back and forth is the real problem.
Thanks for the feedback!
To be honest, I don't think the different input for advancing the npc dialogue and player dialogue helps either. But the inputs are easier to unify when the dialogues are in the same place.
Yeah so fair. The input differences was one of the things I put off until 5am before the submission and decided to sleep instead haha.
I haven't played a lot of jam's games yet, but this might easily be the best one.
Graphics, story and sound desing work very well together, creating a unique atmosphere. 5/5
Wow thanks for the kind words! Glad you liked it!
