Really enjoyed the setting, the puzzles and the humor! Also a lot of content to chew on for a jam game, at first I expected the area above ground to be the whole game, so I was really surprised when the elevator went to a whole new cluster of rooms. Great job!

All the nice touches with a bow to classic adventure era games here. Breaking the fourth wall, fun flow, nice and understandable puzzles, the nowadays actuality of a sort. One of the best games of this jam. Thanks for such cool and daring adventure!

Finally got around to playing! Your game has a great setup and structure to it the way you did the intro section before the plot and puzzles open up when you get inside. Your puzzles were nicely signposted and I love that they fit in the story, giving backstory to the characters and things. (only issue being the pixel hunting you know about ;) The artwork fits the atmosphere nicely too, gritty and bleak, but colourful enough to make it enjoyable to play too. Great stuff!!

Loads of fun!  Only thing missing was a clock on the wall that stopped at 12:34.  Loved the control room puzzles, with a good mix of solutions.  Well done!

I am legally not allowed to speak of what I did according to that one guy in the game.

I really enjoyed this game, it felt like a Lucas arts Indiana Jones game, which is always a good feeling.

Of course I had to try the bad ending first. But I have to ask... how did you guess the combination of my luggage? I was sure I picked the mother of all secret codes.

Developer(+1)

Beacuse I am President Skroob's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate. And he always use that code for his luggage as well. :)

That was really good: Great humor, good puzzles and a very interesting story.

Great work on this one! I really enjoyed playing it.

Such polish and love went into this! I enjoy the occasional 4th wall breaking elements, like the former officer looking at the screen to tell us things. Fun little developer jokes smashed in throughout the game. The graphics are incredible and set such a nice tone for the mood. Puzzles are all very logical and charming. Anything with a kitty gets a +1 from me too. The humor is spot on throughout the game and the 'puzzle' for the final code also gets a big round of applause.

My only real complaint is some of the crucial interactive hotspots are very tiny. Other than that this is a very professional submission and clearly a lot of work and inspiration went into this. Great job!

Developer

I swear on my collection of Ducks (made of wood) that I am already making all the hotspots MUCH BIGGER for the next iteration. :)

Thank you for the kind words! I'm really glad you enjoyed playing D3AD HAND.

This is really excellent! Lots to love about this game:

  • Great humour
  • The parallax and snow give a good sense of depth
  • Good fair puzzles. I was never stuck for more than a few minutes
  • Never thought I’d say this, but I love Stalin!

A few very minor nitpicks:

  • The camera follows the player quite slowly so you have to wait for it to catch up before you can walk further. It’s also hard to click on small hotspots while the camera is still moving
  • There was quite a big chunk of reading in the middle, (which was very small on my ST3AM D3CK). Not a big deal, but it might be better to break up the reading somehow.

Overall V3RY 3NJOYABL3!

Thanks for playing! And for the feedbacks. All noted for the post jam release.

That was a blast!

... Thankfully not literally.

"Dead Hand" reminded me so much of the Indy games by LucasArts. I love it! The artwork is great, the music fitting and the puzzles were fun. Didn't get stuck except for one pixel hunt. The writing (humour, dialogs) is also very enjoyable. Fantastic game!

This is really what I expected more of the jam games to be like. From conception to delivery, this is what I love about point and click adventure games. Great design, a humorous narrative, and cool retro pixel art. Stalin was my favorite, only caviar flavored cat food for the best officers!

This is really well made!! I had lots of fun playing, great work!

That was absolutely enjoyable - above all because I didn't start a nuclear apocalypse :-) - seriously, great work here - an impressive fun adventure game :-)

"Junior strategic missile force manager" is a terrific job title for linkedin!
however i have fun, solid puzzles, great dialog and humor.
on flaws i'm not a big fan of pixel hunting.
But in the big picture i really appreciate it

Finally got round to playing this game and it sure was lots of fun; really liked everything about the game although I did at first manage to accidentally launch the nuke but then played it again and got a better ending.

Great Work.

I only have one complaint: that I gave up and asked you for a hint for something I could have solved myself! I loved the writing. Definitely my kind of humor. Puzzles are fair and well designed. And there's a cat named Stalin. Great job.

Since seeing the first screenshots I had been looking forward to playing this because it looks so unique. There are some minor technical issues like a walkspeed that's a bit too fast or some mild pixelhunting but most puzzles are extremely logical and clearly signposted. The tongue-in-cheek humour and the very important message make this stand out from the crowd and make it a game that I will gladly revisit one day!

This is really well made, I loved the environment - the graphics and music are great - but the story and puzzles were my favorite part of the game. I had a bit of a hard time in the beginning finding a particular object but other than that I didn't get stuck anywhere. Very well done!
