The one thing I didn't like at all was the controls. A + D for movement, space bar for jumping and Z for attacking are somehow hard to press simultaneously. At least for me. For once, I'm glad I'm using a QWERTZ keyboard, because that felt a little easier.

Blink and you'll miss it. It's really short, but I like what's there. The visuals are great. I especially loved the bouncing raindrops. The music fits perfectly. Excited to see where the story will go. Good luck finishing this!

Wow! The art in this game is beautiful! Great job. I especially like the clouds. Have you used post-processing? If so, Could you tell me what you have used? One glitch I encountered in the beginning was that "left click to continue" was written but the dialogue continues automatically anyway. Either way, I think that both the music and sound effects are excellent. I really like the palette too. Good work! I would love to see a full-fledged game.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Yes I used post processing, I did a bit of color grading along with the obvious bloom. I am definitely planning to finish the game until the end of the story, I'm already working on it.

Developer(+1)

oh and I forgot to mention, when you are making your clouds try to divide parts to different layers, it can achieve a better effect!

Submitted

Thank you for the advice! One question, what parts of the cloud do you mean?

Developer(+1)

for example, for the front layers of the cloud which are the whitest, post processing effects the lightest colors the most, behind them are 3-4 layers with different shades of grey, this also helps in creating different shapes without having to draw a complete new cloud.

Thank you very much for the explanation!

Looking great. Really wish there was more to experience.

This type of platformer with back story, I love them. And this game is looking great! Congratulations on the submission

The painting style of the game is very characteristic, although it is very brief, but I enjoy the process of playing, nice job:)

Cool game, but ended quite abruptly, understandable however. I like the character's design, and the story seems interesting would have loved to see more. In such a short game I don't have much to judge

Developer

yeah I'm quite upset that I couldn't atleast submit a playable level so people can experience actual gameplay, the story and puzzles but I had no choice due to some stuff. I am working on it right now though

Great sprite art, and I like the concept of the game. I do think the attack button should be on a more accessible button with AD and space controls, like a mouse button. Would love to see this game be finished.

I had the same hicup on my development... no time ;)  Additionally, my initial scope was huge so I decided just to create the very first part of the story.  But, I love your art style and I can feel the potential of the game, so... keep the good work!

Submitted(+1)

Very short, aye. Just got there and... oops. But the concept feels nice. Make yourself to finish this one, at least one proper level. Then test. The feedback would be much more meaningful, for now it's just some compliments to the idea of design, no story yet.

Developer(+1)

You are right and this is what I would usually do, but with the little time that I had because of other things beside the jam I had to submit what I had.

Submitted

At some point we have to make tough decisions (even not submitting the game). But you were right to share what you had, sometimes we need a kind words and a bit of a push to continue;).

I liked the graphics and the atmosphere, sad it was so short, hope you can finish it :)

Submitted(+1)

Man, is such a let down it was so short, I was really enjoying it! Art and movement is very nice! Hope to see more from you on a future update of this game or other games you have in mind.

I love the character art, monsters and effects. I think right now it feels like the combat is missing a step- currently, if I move or jump I can't attack. But if I was able to attack while moving/jumping, that would allow me to really get in, strike, and get out while fighting enemies. Also, a Symphony of the Night-style backdash could be really useful! Really looking forward to seeing where you go with the project, I loved the story outline on the game page!

I actually recorded my playthrough. If you want to see my impressions as I played, you can see it below (timestamp for your game in the description). Hope that can be useful!

Hello! I just watched your feedback, first of all thank you so much! Secondly regarding the limited attack the player can do, what I planned to do was to have a different attack animation for each action(for example a jumping attack or a sliding attack) but did not have time to do that due to work and uni. Yes the UI is incompatible because it was rushed I used anything I had, as for the attack button I think because of the rush I couldn't think about the user experience much lol, regarding the gaining new powers line it kinda has to do with the story in detail so I dont want to spoil but I'm also exploring my options.
Again thank you so much for your feedback and great work on your game!

I liked the environment and character design. The music was nice too. I got the first key and then entered a purple area after which the game ended. The controls also didn't mention how we can fight so I was just frantically dodging everything the whole time haha. Sorry if that's not what I was supposed to do! Just not very good at these types of games. Good effort!

Developer(+1)

It supposed to show you when you enter the dungeon, it must be a bug then. Thank you for playing and thank you for your feedback!!

Oh maybe I missed it then. My bad!

The animations give me Castlevania: SOTN vibes. Seems like a great start to a potentially larger project!

Submitted(+1)

Off to a really good start with this one, really nice animations. I'm following you for sure.

Developer

Thank you so much!

Submitted(+1)

The movement sound/animation is very satisfying to look at. I wish that the game was longer so I'm looking forward to more :)

Submitted(+1)

This was really neat!! I liked the concept a lot and the art was really nice. Good job!

Submitted(+1)

The game was short, but I liked the animation and the music was good.

Submitted(+1)

The game is great, but there are too many effects and it does not allow you to play the game.

This seems like a really good game concept!! I really like the idea of looking for your cat and the combination of platforming and combat. The only criticisms I would have are the key bindings because using A and D to move and Z to attack felt really awkward. I think it might work better with the left and right movement as well as jumping to be bound to the arrow keys and for the attack to remain as z. Some form of hit animation would also be nice. Other than that it was a nice concept with a nice atmosphere created with the art and music!!

Developer

Thank you so much! You're right the bindings do feel kinda awkward 😅 tysm for ur feedback
