Awesome Idea! But perhabs slow down the rotation so its more intense + u cant just rotate wild around like a radar ^^

This was a REALLY good concept for the theme, I liked it a lot.

I do think you could change the mechanics of the black side, possibly have a shader of "remembrance" rather than just black. So the player can see what they have seen but it slowly fades if you don't look back and nothing new is displayed so you can still get hit without knowing they are coming.

This way it would improve the visuals of the game and make it much more engaging rather than the big black box on the screen XD

Developer

That's actually a really cool idea! I'll try to implement that once the jam is over, thank you for the tip and for playing the game!

Cool, I'd like to see how that goes.

The concept can be amazing in a full horror/shooting game. Not seeing the monsters is always a good way to bring fear ^^

Developer

I was aiming for a war sim almost until the end but then introduced the zombies to get that fear feeling ;) glad you liked it!

To me it feels like the tank controlls are a bit to sensitive. However the idea was very interesting.

I think its definitely a unique choice for the Only One. I could see this mechanic being used in squad based survival games where you're worried about the itemized health of all of your players. But besides health, this really needed something to signify a win state besides simply not hearing any more zombies.

Developer

Thank you for playing my game! A proper end game was definitely in the plans but time ran out - - '

I'm glad you liked it!

I like how you handled the UI, but tank controls are just not intuitive for something that would require fast and accurate turns. The map could've been more contained as well instead of just being a few open buildings. A closed off area with lots of nooks and crannies would make someone with sight impairment much more vulnerable. I like the idea, but more could be done with it.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback, level design is really lacking =/ I hope you enjoyed it

The graphics and sounds are good, but the controls could use a bit tweaking. The turning is too fast, maybe add on option to turn with the mouse. And one small thing, it might look better if you add a little blur or something between the left and right eyes, so it's not that sharp line.

Thank you for the review! The commands are really not ideal =/ the straight black was also intended as a way to aim since there is no crosshair, but I'll try it nonetheless ;)

Fun game. Great ideia!

The tank controls are not a problem IMO, but, I think that the rotation is a little too fast.
Besides that, the game is great

Thank you for testing it! Glad you liked it!

I'll work on the controls once the rating period is over! (Also I'm happy to see some love for the tank controls :D )

haha. a missing eye in a zombie apocalypse would kill me. very cool idea!

Developer

Thank you for the review! Glad to know you died ;)

Funny idea! I would prefer mouse controls for a shooter though. And I don't know if I would just prefer a top down shooter with full view as well :'D

Check out our game :) https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/463199

Developer

Thank you! Mouse controls are definitively in the backlog for a post-jam build!

I don't have a Windows PC =/, if you have WebGL or Mac builds I'll gladly take a look at yours

Sadly we didn't have the WebGL Build ready for submissions in time :/

Developer

That's a bummer!

Maybe you can make one and publish it somewhere else? Not sure how against the rules that would be =/

We were already thinking about that :D I will keep you updated if we do!

Developer

Please do! Maybe give Mark a heads up in Discord, he's really active and approachable!

One of the most original ideas I've seen so far.  I ended up wandering around for about 2 minutes before I encountered any enemies though, think I took a wrong turn at the start.

It's amazing how tough only seeing half the screen makes the game.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! The level is a bit to spread around, I was sort of expecting everyone to just walk in front.

Really unique and cool idea.

Gave 5 to originality and adherence.

Only reason i gave 4 for design was because i found it a bit hard to control the character when being attacked.  Was thinking about if it would be easier with mouse aim but that might make it a different game so i still understand your choice :)

Developer

Thanks for playing! I was about to go with the mouse but dropped it at the last second. But ty for the tip, maybe for post-jam updates.
