Great idea, very well implemented with sound and "animations" showing what is happening.  I enjoyed playing this!  The use of the theme is very creative, dice are central to it and it adds maths to it.  Just like a "real" fight is a lot about knowing you and your opponent and determining what will happen next.   A true gem!

What a nice idea! I professionally work making educational games (not for maths, though) for school systems, and this would make for an amazing mini-game for youngsters learning to do quick maths. Great realization. I like the nice, minimalist sounds. Good job!

Very cool idea. I like the maths concept but you can leave a dice spot empty, that makes it a bit easier. It looks very cool and the sound effects are nice.

Wow, great game! I've always enjoyed math so playing this game was an absolute blast! There's a lot of strategy involved, so the rng aspect of it doesn't feel frustrating whatsoever, which is always a challenge. In fact, I feel like the rng makes it better since you can't always play the best move. Overall, this is a very solid submission and I had a lot of fun playing. Great work!

Trying my best to give you a similar level of feedback of that which you gave me-

  • are the dice and equations random? on the 2nd level of tutorial I got an unattainable number. Felt bad when the scroll was telling me “get shields” and i couldn’t possibly
  • was a bit strange seeing the option to just not do anything
  • I appreciated the SFX for placing dice
  • there were some rounds where I just didn’t need to block at all
  • I like the cooldown idea, but I didn’t understand it was on any number at first (i thought they were those specific die and on cooldown
  • I would have appreciated seeing the extra effect on every movable die rather than having to mentally map them or check before placing them
  • not wanting to reroll my whole pool on a certain number felt restrictive, especially when i wanted that number for something else
  • It was tough telling what was on cooldown and what wasn’t
  • it felt bad on rounds where I couldn’t possibly damage them because my max damage was below their shields
  • I found myself wanting to drag die to replace ones already in a slot, instead of having to drag the old one away and then drag the new one in
  • I had a situation where I could have damaged both enemies through their shield, but the attacks were allocated to remove the first enemy’s shield then overkill the second one
  • I think a cool mechanic may have been trying to preserve die between rounds, right now there’s really no reason to not do the bare minimum or skip rounds

Thank you so much for the constructive feedback. Going to take all of this on board. All equations should have been attainable - will double check my math.

I also think you misunderstood the powers - they needed to be activated by putting a matching dice IN the power slot (not activated by simply using that number in an equation). You are not the first to not twig this is what is required so still some UI work to do. I had hoped that since power slots and equation slots shared the same art that this would clue players in. Oh well.

You tricked me into doing math, but it was very entertaining! The concept was very unique, and the art and sound effects were great! I couldn't figure out how to use the abilities, because all of the dice were grayed out when I first unlocked them, and clicking them didn't do anything. Good job making a fun and polished game!

Thanks. Shame about the abilities. The "greyed" out status was actually the same graphic as the equation slots - putting the correct numbered dice in the slot activates the ability. Will work on clearing up that part of the UI.

Very fun concept - Can be a bit easy since you can choose to leave certain slots blank.

+1 for a very solid UI in 48 hours!

Having the enemies telegraph their moves was a great decision! Very slay-the-spire-esque, and it only gets better when you have multiple enemies.

One point of criticism is that there are some situations where the dice you're given can't be put together to attack. I'm guessing the levels are randomly generated, so making the math add up, so there's always something you can do is difficult, but it can feel a little unfair when the enemy is defending, and your dice can't make an attack.

Side note: I really like the cocky laugh when you hit the optimal block/attack combination! Kudos!

Thanks! RNG will for sure play a factor. I do enjoy card games (inc Slay the Spire) but usually get sick of them when I feel the randomness holds me back more than my skill!

Made me realize how bad my math is! By leaving squares blank it gives you lots of room to maneuver, so maybe make it harder by forcing the player to fill all spots. That and a time limit would make this very engaging and an excellent game!

Very fun entry! I really liked the modifiers on the dice charts (multiplication, subtration), and the "items" added a lot of strategy to the game. The art style was great and the sound effects were spot on. Probably the best entry I've played thus far. My only complaints are that the enemies don't scale to be difficult quickly enough, and gameplay can get quite repetitive, but both are understandable given the time constraints.

Interesting fighting game concept. Combining maths with dices is a clever idea to come to a game like this one. The music became quite repetetive over time and leaving the spots in an equation open should not be allowed I think (mentioned by other people as well).

Overall a fun game to play and amazing that you did this in 48 hours.

The value chart and equation slots were really clever and unique ideas. It would've been neat to have a way to influence what charts were used. I liked the art style too, especially those runescape-eque damage icons!

Very nice one, I didn’t manage to win but also I didn’t loose, the game went on for a couple of minute, I think I’ve missed something :D

Nope, just battle till you die (pun intended?). Enemies don't seem to be getting strong enough, quick enough for players to be challenged before bailing.

Fun and simple game. A great time killer. I think having you keep the dice you didn't play would give the game a bit more depth though, since you would be able to choose the combination that would get rid of numbers that you already have a lot of, or stuff like that.
