This is one of the most unique ideas I've seen so far. The art is AMAZING! The hit boxes could use a bit of improvement but still. You should make this a full game or at least put this mechanic into a game your making.

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! I've already tweaked with the hitboxes a little to make them more fair, I'll upload the new version after the rating period of the jam is over :D

Great idea. But for me it was too difficult to play, lousy me(

the game is awesome but you can add slow-mo  because its hard to aim
ps:add a low quality in setting its too much for my laptop

Developer

There’s already some slowmo when you hover the cursor over the enemy, but I’ve been messing around with the value of it, so it’s more noticeable :D

Submitted

will you add a low quality setting?

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I’ve been thinking about doing that, because I figured the post processing wouldn’t run as well on some people’s computers. So yeah, I’ll try to implement it :)

Wow, beautiful game

Criticism - The mouse sensitivity was a bit strange, despite the mouse settings to alter it.  I could really never get a grip on the mouse movement.  Also, in the webgl version the mouse sometimes teleports and looks somewhere else, completely ruining your flow.  Figuring out how to fix the mouse movement and make it a bit more precise would definitely help this game.

Support - The art direction and implementation of the theme was amazing.  The combo system made total sense within the theme and felt very important to the gameplay.

Developer

Yeah, honestly I thought there was a problem with the sensitivity, but not many people have mentioned it, I think it’s a little better in the download version though. But I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what it was. So I’ll try my best to fix it, but it’ll be hard until I find out what the cause is.

But thanks a lot. Honestly it’s kind of weird seeing all this praise for the art, since I’ve never really been a particularly good artist. So thanks, it’s really nice to hear :D

This game is soooo good! I had to force myself to stop playing. If not, I would have kept going for hours. You should be super proud of this.

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it :D

Love this concept and the way it's implemented. The replay value is very high and I found myself playing several times trying to reach a higher score. Nice job!

What a great, inspired idea! It was nice reading your description and seeing how the idea came about plus the tools you used to make it happen, but even without that I could tell from the game itself that this project was something you're really passionate about. I had a few runs where I scored 0 and I just couldn't get to grips with it. Then once I landed that first kill... and the second... and the third... It really hooks you in! I ended up chasing that combo and trying to time my slashes. It's funny as soon as you miss one or two when you start panicking and flailing around hoping to restart your combo again. Considering the amount of work involved in making all the aspects of this that you did, I'd say this is a brilliant entry to the jam and a game you should be very proud of.

Excellent submission, I can see myself coming back to play this from time to time just to try to beat my score!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! This is definitely the most passionate I've ever been about a game jam game

Cool Game bro! Find my video review here: 22:48 Rising Smoke

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for playing it! It’s so cool watching someone play it on video!!

I notice you kept saying less is more, so I kinda realised I didn’t make it completely obvious how it fits the theme, but the more you dash the less distance you travel. So you have to try and dash as few times as possible between enemies.

But thank you so much for putting it in your video, that’s so awesome!! And it was really funny to watch :D

ah that was how it worked huh! Yeah my brain was slow last evening haha

Great visuals, fun gameplay.

This game is so good. Movement is fast and when you build speed you feel like a killing machine. The combo mechanic helps too. Also the visuals are awsome. There isn't single thing that I don't like. Also very addictive game. I told myself that this will be my last attempt, but then I played it over and over again. My max score is 7500. Is it good or bad?

Developer

I'd say 7500 is an alright score. Though I'm not the best judge of scores since I pretty much played it for a week straight. Though the key to getting an incredibly high score is to try and maintain your combo because it increases the score exponentially every time it goes up.

If you look in the comments on the actual game page, one of my friends got 5,200,000 just by getting a combo of like 70 or something crazy like that!

Submitted

Now I feel ashamed. HAHAHA

Developer

How do you think I feel? I made the game and I’ve played it the longest, but his high score is over 5x mine XD

Submitted(+1)

True, at least you know that people play your game very passionate. That will not happened in bad game.

Awesome esthetic and I love the reference you did to terminator. The little details like changing the pitch on the multiplier give impact and motivation to keep doing better and replaying.

Interesting and addicting gameplay loop.  Visuals are nice, and hits have the perfect amount of "Oomph" to them.  The only thing I can critique is that enemy distance is hard to judge.  One of my favorite games so far!

This game is amazing, I with a few tweaks you could release it and no one will be able to tell that this is a game jam game.

The thing that you should work on is giving player more info about distance from enemies. It is pretty hard and fristrating when you feel that it should be possible to reach it but it turns out that its too far.

besides that, amasing game jam entry !

Submitted

The gameplay and concept are not bad, the only bad thing here are my eyes can't tell which enemy is close enough ;-;

Submitted(+1)

it was hard at first , but it's really goood specially the visualls and animations like honestly this is  one of the best games in this jam (to me ofcourse)

Visuals are amazing !

(When I clicked Play the game told me I can dash with the mouse, so I clicked, fall, and died xD)

Developer

From what I've seen and heard, most people do that lol

Submitted(+1)

Very fun game, easy to play but hard to master! Visuals are great, and the way combos work really make you think about the way you slash through things. Sometimes a bit hard to know how far away the enemies are, but that's about my only complaint I have. Great job!

Submitted (1 edit)

Game is beauty full with is pixelated 3D style. But I suck at it. I had a hard time knowing if the enemy is close enough or not. Otherwise Music fit well with your game, SFX are ok. Great work.
