You shoot to move and attack with only-one button.

You have only-one bullet.

You can't control the direction of the ship directly, but you can also shoot to spin, so not all control is lost.

You can't aim, but aim isn't all of the game since you can still guide the missile.

Nice graphics etc, well made complete game.

Only wished the leaderboard is online

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Did you enjoyed it?

We liked the leaderboard to be online, but due to the time constraints it was too big of a task

I always wanted to make a leaderboard service so that i can add them as i want without thinking about the coding everytime. do you think it is worth it?

u know, there are also grievers who just write a very big number to a leaderboard if such a leaderboard is left unmanaged

Developer

That is a great idea in my opinion. Maybe you could make the service for people in general (beside just for yourself), so that other people can easily add leaderboards to their game, just an idea :p I think it could be pretty awesome to have an online leaderboard for gamejam games, so in my eyes it is worth it.

You could probably take some precautions to deal with the grievers.

You could take a look at this site, looks like something we're looking for http://dreamlo.com/developer

thanks!!!!!

how did you find this? last time i spent a whole night but did not find something this specific

Developer

Whoops sorry didn't see your reaction. I don't remember, but I googled "Simple online leaderboard Unity3D" or something of the sorts.

This was awesome! I loved the minimalist art style and sounds, I had a lot of fun! Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you and glad you enjoyed it!

it is cool! we basically wanna to do some kind of lost control of spaceship in our game, but your game look way decent!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Your game is pretty cool as well :D

Its quite fun once you get the hang of it! The artwork is neat, the bouncy planets are funny, only thing I would say is that you can't see your ship when you're controlling the missile so when you die you don't see how you get attacked.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it! You're right, that would be one of the priorities if we would keep developing the game

Really fun game and the concept is cool too :)goob job

Really nice effects on the rockets.  I enjoyed my time with this game. 😃

Developer

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! :)

Great stuff ) I really like all the mechanics. I like how you move the ship by shooting, it's not apparent in the beginning but when I realised it it made it much more strategic. I would've made so that you can collect health by hitting it with the rocket too. Right now, rocket just gets stuck in it neither exploding nor collecting it. I also think that clicking to destroy the rocket is a bit redundant since at that time you can't control it anyway so why not explode it automatically. Beside this two things it was a very fun game for me.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback!

The reasoning behind not letting it explode instantly is because you can still hit enemies if you can't control it anymore.

Nice game, good job!

One word: Wow

Developer

Glad you liked it!

Great Work! It reminded me a bit of those old timey arcade spaceship shooters. Really liked the twist that you're only in controll of the rockets.

Developer

Many thanks! Glad you had fun :D

Had a lot of fun playing! Was a little unsure about 'shooting rockets determines player movement' because I'd seen it a lot during the jam, but by having the player rotating before firing the rocket and all the debris the spaceship can bounce off makes it a lot more interesting! was very funny firing a rocket, coming back and then seeing my ship spinning wildly! It wasn't very clear to me why / when my rocket would slow to a stop but otherwise very easy to pick up and play and have a blast doing it!

Developer(+1)

Great to hear you had fun playing :) Also good to hear that you think the mechanics of the shooting and bouncing were interesting. The rocket isn't supposed to be slowed down. After a certain time of controlling the rocket the fuel of the rocket runs out and then you won't be able to steer it anymore, the player is then able to destroy the rocket manually. This is done to prevent the player from being stuck in controlling the rocket for too long.

theme is implemented nicely, curious how you did all this in 48 hours, really amazing

Developer

Thank you! The teamwork was great imo. Everything went smooth throughout the 48 hours. We usually agreed pretty fast or did great suggestions to ideas.

Just an overview on how it went time wise:

Sunday 21:00-00:30 concepting and working out ideas, 00:30-01:30 player movement basics and enemy movement basics. Around this time we went to bed until 09:00 ish, we made (almost) everything on saturday. Went to bed 00:30 ish and again wake up around 09:00. Sunday was just the UI, playtest for any glitches and some tweaks for graphics(particles mostly).

I loved the Ui, the gameplay and the art. Huge respect for pulling that of!

Developer

Thank you so much!

Haha fun and goofy! Its outer space rocket bumper cars. I really enjoyed shooting around, and I really like how I have to explode something with the rocket (or wait a long time) before I can shoot another. Very much contributes to the "out of control" sense. I had trouble sometimes understanding why my ship was moving, it seemed like it occasionally changed directions when I hadn't bumped into anything or shot a rocket. Nice work, and nice 3d art too!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for the feedback! A small explanation why you might suddenly move directions if you didn't do anything. The game tries to have all the objects in the same area, so if you move a bit too far of it pulls you back, the force can go quite high the further you go out of that area. Think of it as a massive magnet to the middle of the scene.

Submitted

Yeah, I figured it was something like that. Maybe you can put like, a black hole or something in the middle, so we can know that's what's happening?

Developer

That would make that part a bit easier to understand yea, thank you :) The 3 planets would first serve as the attractors, but that changed a bit as you might have seen.

What a great take on Asteroids! I like how the rockets all interact with each other, felt like the rockets could have a *bit* tighter controls on them but that's part of the point! Loved the low poly assets too!

Developer(+1)

Many thanks, the feedback has been noted!
