Nice job! The meters filling/emptying all at different rates lead to some stressful scenarios where stuff starts to really pile up. The fact that some hallways can be difficult to line up really adds to the tension.

It might be wise to reorganize the apartment for an updated release, there's a lot of dead ends (tub, bed, dishes) that might remove interesting multi-tasking decisions from the game. The garbage in the center feels like the most interesting space since you can choose a few different nearby targets from it.

Thanks for the feedback!

And I am planning to continue this after the jam so this is a really good note, I want to have varying floor plans so will be sure to take this into account. I've played it again after reading this and I see what you mean.

Really appreciate the advice, thank you! :)

This was a really fun game, definitely felt out of control, the voice over made it so much easier for me to understand what I had to do at first, great job!

Developer

Thanks so much, glad you had fun with it! :)

Submitted(+1)

Great concept! My highscore was 19 days. For some reason, somehow, I was able to be able to play the game and understand it with out a tutorial, which made the game fun for me!

Developer

Thanks so much!

I'm really glad to hear that as I was worried that some aspects of the game weren't clear enough. Thanks for playing and glad you had fun!

Oh man, I did not expect a game to make me happy I live in a tiny apartment, haha! Apparently I can only survive about a month with so many rooms. Playing this was a blast, and had me in stitches as my life slowly began to spiral out of control.

Developer(+1)

Hahaha now there's an impact I never expected this game to have! :)

Thank you so much for the feedback and glad you had fun with this!

Submitted(+1)

This is a very cool game ! I survived 38 days !
Special mention of this google-like voice it's really fun !

Developer(+1)

I think 38 days is the highest I've seen anyone get yet, most people tend to make to around the high 20's at most! :D

Thanks so much for playing and for your feedback, glad you enjoyed the game!

THIS IS SO COOL, seriously, I couldn't stop but laugh throughout the entire playthrough. The sound design is on point, especially the voice of a woman about me losing everything, this was so insane and hilarious at the same time XD
I think it is the best game about losing the sanity, because I really did trying to survive as long as I can. I really with the game was expanded into a full game with different rooms, features etc. But it already is fun and polished. And the art style with all the vignette fits the game perfectly. I loved the game, keep making games!

Developer(+1)

Wow, thanks so much for the awesome feedback and so glad you had fun with it! :D

I will definitely be expanding the game after the jam by adding more rooms and more life scenarios to drive people insane, I've already got a decent backlog of features to add. I honestly didn't even think I would finish a game in time for this jam never mind end up with one that people had this much fun with, it's been such a great experience.

Thanks again!

Submitted(+1)

Nice to hear that, best of luck! :)

Submitted(+1)

i really liked this game - the interface is smooth, the idea is simple and to the point

i love how as you lose sanity your controls slow down from being exhausted

great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! :)

Hmmm, the controls shouldn't be slowing down as the sanity drops... I'll need to look into that... However, having said that I really like that idea so will add it to the backlog for things to add in the post jam version! Thanks again!

Submitted(+1)

Nice concept! The voice over makes the gameplay more intense! Great job!

Developer

Thanks! And that's exactly what I was going for so glad it had the intended effect! :)

(+1)

Amazing game! The frantic music, the GLaDOS-like voice, the simple graphics; all contributes into making the game a really enjoyable experience! The controls are a bit awkward though, kept bumping my head against walls...

Developer

Thank you so much! Really appreciate your feedback and glad(os) you had fun with it! :D

Aye the controls are number one on the fix list for the post jam version, toying with a few different ideas but I think as someone else said some vacuuming to help get through the tighter spaces is all it really needs.

Submitted(+1)

why is there a game based on my life? xD

cool, the maze was well done, not too  hard but enough to get stuck in some points when things start going wrong fast. I only survived for 18 days D: congrats!

Developer(+1)

Honestly now whenever I realise there's something I haven't done around the house all I can hear is that voice... :)

Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted(+1)

Seriously, best game I played for far this jam. It's sooo good! This game drives you nuts. And all the voices that pop up all the time were really well done. Stressful but funny haha

Really solid game. Only comments would be the character control was a bit too sensitive and it took a few play throughs before I reliazed how to refill energy and talk to my friends.

Excellent job though :) Hope you had a great time making this

Developer

Wow thank you! This really means a lot! :)

And yes I had a great time with it, got a bunch of ideas for how to tighten up the concept and flesh it out into a more complete game. Definitely think game jams are fantastic experience for anyone getting into game development. I've learned so much!

One thing is for certain, I won't be messing up controls again! :D

Submitted(+1)

Incredibly stressful! haha Nice presentation, the controls made it a bit frustrating though

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I've actually updated the page now to say that it can be controlled with a gamepad as the analogue stick makes it a bit smoother. Will definitely be tidying this up after the jam. :)

(1 edit) (+1)

By trying to stay sane, I, quite frankly, went insane. Great game! As others already pointed out, the only major downside were the controls. Hope you work on it after the jam too!

Developer(+1)

Thanks, and yeah I'm kicking myself with the controls, ach well live and learn! Will definitely be working on it after the jam as got more ideas to drive people insane :D

(+1)

Hell yeah! More levels around the same gameplay concept would definitely be super awesome.

Submitted(+1)

Simple idea, but well-executed. The presentation was great. I think it would be nice if the character movement were less free. I got stuck sometimes when moving through doors. If you always moved one block at a time, I would be able to spend more time thinking about how to manage my resources instead of thinking about how to move around. Very well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! And literally just slapped myself in the head. Yes one block at a time would have been ideal, I really don't know why I didn't do that as I actually took some time to ensure everything was on a proper grid to make placement of objects easier...

This jam has been a fantastic learning experience for me and a goldmine of inspiration!

(+1)

Solid interpretation of the theme, I really like the visual style with the tv screen and iconographic game objects. Controls could be a bit clunky with trying to fit through doorways, a bit of subtle vacuuming on the character to squeeze through the doors would be appreciated. Biggest issue I'd say is its not very interactively compelling with just moving around.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback, I did have some more ideas for interaction but wasn't confident I would get them done in time so went with something simpler. I'll definitely be adding more when I develop this further!

The vacuuming on the character is a great idea, will be looking into that before anything else!

This game drove me crazy

Developer

Then it has done it's job well :)

Submitted(+1)

Very anxiety inducing! The audio is very effective!

Good Job!

Developer

Thank you! And yeah I was was really pleased with how the audio turned out :)

Submitted(+1)

Very good one!! The voice telling you what to do was great.

Developer

Thanks!

Submitted(+2)

This... this is perfect I guess?? This gave me so much anxiety right off the bat, which is probably... what you wanted. Honestly love it, this sound design is really cool and further drives you insane, I mean, hard to be more fitting to the theme lol

Moving around is definitely infuriating, but I get that was intended, would be too easy else, and driving you mad is well, surely gonna drive you further into insanity as well!

So yeah, really nice job!

Developer

Hahaha thank, love this review! :D

Yeah the controls are definitely going to get changed when I work on developing this into a proper game. I just played on my laptop and it was a nightmare, was so used to using a mechanical keyboard when testing so it wasn't as bad...

Glad you enjoyed it!

(+1)

Maintained my sanity for 27 days which is honestly longer than I've mantained it in 2020 so far... The controls feel a little janky at times, but otherwise a very nice game!

Developer

Yeah I was torn over the controls, it gets frustrating when getting stuck trying to get into some of the smaller spaces but ultimately liked that it actually fit with the theme of the jam.... If I spend more time on it though I would definitely tidy them up. Thanks for your feedback!

It does sort of fit with the theme haha!
