Super fun and I love how literally slick was used.

It's very satisfying to get good at overtaking and placing the oil slicks just in front of an enemy car, it feels mischievous since you have to get right on top of them and place it down.

I got stuck on the tutorial for a bit because I missed my oil slick and couldn't find the car for a while, so I just placed oil everywhere until he crashed off screen haha. I found myself trying to slow down a lot when I missed a shart, but was still too fast to make a recovery and ended up waiting for the next lap.

Very impressed with how well put together this is and all the small details. The car honking when you pass them, the outline on the cars but not the powerups, the small mirror on the back of the car, and the camera popup to show someone slipped. Very cool stuff! They all really added to the experience, and made it feel really polished and put together.

Also great how you managed to get out three levels with music for each one, great work to you and your team!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! It is always amazing to hear the positive feedback on things that we actually put a lot of thought on, it feels great to see that they are not going unnoticed, thank you for playing!!!

The vibes are immaculate. Love the music and the atmosphere. I would love to see another reason to spill oil since it's easy to avoid that and let the other cars be. I'd also like if crashing was a bit more forgiving, maybe you restart after 3 hits? Otherwise, very fun and chill.

Developer

Well there are 3 levels apart from the tutorial, to beat a level you got to defeat all the cars in that level, cars aren't able to dodge the oil as soon as you drop it but after a little while they do attempt to go around it. Regardless, thank you so much for playing!!

Submitted(+2)

this game is great. lots of fun. levels are a bit too long, with there being no cars to attack for a long time until you see another one. but i loved it, truly fun to be a lil shit, hehehe.

Developer

Thank you for playing! Yeah we will work towards balancing the level to event cars balance 👍

Submitted(+2)

first of all, the soundtrack is top notch! is there a place i can find more of this person's music?

the idea of your attacks being able to kill you on subsequent laps is good game design! it has risk/reward baked into it. i do think, with some improvements, the game could be a lot more fun.

im guessing the ultimate goal of the game is to kill all the other cars. for context, i love "masocore" games like Getting Over It, etc (though I dislike the "masocore"/"rage games" genre label because they make it sound like the player is in pain, rather than just someone who enjoys getting better at a game for real instead of the game getting easier for them via leveling or whatever). on paper the fact that one mistake starts the game all over doesn't bother me. but i didn't have the patience to beat the forest track for several reasons.

it'd be nice to have some indicator of actual progress towards success (some UI saying "3/12 cars killed" or something, for example). without it, it's hard to gauge the success level of a run, and i'm not even sure if what i'm doing will actually lead to success.

a lot of time is spent just on straight shots of road, which feels a bit slow. it'd be nice if there was a way to speed up, and a reward for taking the risk of going faster, like the game keeping track of your completion time. maybe it does, but if that's something the player should strive for, it should probably be onscreen somewhere.

the controls feel a bit delayed, but i can see why they were necessary to make the act of putting oil in front of an enemy car more challenging and rewarding. one thing i questioned was the braking cooldown. i'm sure you added it for a reason though. if so there should at least be more feedback since it's a bit nonstandard, usually i'd expect to be able to tap brake to go just a little bit slower.

i did love the design and the overall vibe so i think with those little tweaks the game could be great!

Developer(+1)

Well first off, thank you so much for such a detailed feedback. They help us improve and that's exactly what we want.🙏🏼

Now, here's our sound Designer's Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/artist/3VflVg74spUKHKwQvN4034?si=ybOhauniQZujtW3FWnbhMw

You mentioned having a counter for how many cars were eliminated. Due to our insistence on having an organic  UI integration, There is a number on every car signifying how many cars remain. However, we are also planning on adding a bill board at every possible place in the level that shows the number of cars remaining.

As for the braking system, we will be ditching cooldown in favour of endless braking, which accelerates oil depletion rate as long as players keep pressing the brake button.

The tracks themselves shall also be shortened while some obstacles will be removed to make it so that player's oily mess gets a chance to shine as a villain here.

Hopefully these (and many other changes based on feedback we've received) will make the game more fun and accessible to everyone.

Submitted(+1)

thanks for being gracious with the feedback! i always feel a little awkward sending unsolicited criticism, even if constructive, but i figured it could be helpful! if i write a lot about a game, it means i liked it and want to help the authors go further in the future. the changes you have planned sound like good ideas!

i totally understand about wanting a minimal UI. i didn't understand at all about the numbers on the cars. billboards would definitely be helpful feedback, though if you wanted to get fancier, one idea might be that, when a car dies, you make its number fly up from the bottom of the screen, then decrement it while the player can see, before it fades out. it'd probably help too if each number was a different color, so it's extremely obvious that the number starts as the number of the car you just killed, then decrements to the number of the car you're about to see.

now that i know about the car numbers i was able to make it to the second level! i did bounce off that level eventually for the other two reasons (long straight segments and trying to make it through those traffic arrows with the braking cooldown is hellish). i did have fun though, thanks for making it!

Developer(+1)

The more feedbacks we get, the better we become. I like the idea you provided about decrementing number from a bottom to top of screen. We might give it a go during testing 😇

We will make sure to make tracks smaller and have the braking cooldown removed (in exchange for faster oil depletion) so that the experience is much more your control.

Thank you so much for giving us your valuable time and feedback  🙏🏼☺️

Developer(+1)

I have to agree with you about the soundtrack, our teammate Kudu really did shine here, Septarap included the link to his Spotify in his comment, highly recommend checking him out, really talented.

Not bad! Something tells me that making the rear window mirrored was intentional, and I like it. Generally, when a game is made dietetic (diegetic) , it's always a plus. The controls weren't the most convenient for me, of course, but it's not for me to say that with my game.

Developer(+1)

Yesss, other than momentary rear view mirror (which was actually just a testing tool but later adopted in game due to how cool it looked), we were going for a fully organic UI integration in the game!! Thank you for noticing that :)

The controls shall be worked upon even further, since we had no time left for playtestong the game to balance the movement.

Thank you for taking time to trying out our game and providing a rating 🙏🏼😇

The "kill" cam was a great idea. Right as I slicked someone I thought, "but now I don't get to see it :(", so that was a nice surprise. It was fun playing as a road raging animal, trying to cut in front of others. It was frustrating getting close to taking out all cars, but then being taken out by a wall, it discouraged me from making really aggressive road ragey moves.

Developer

Thank you for playing! We will try to balance the difficulty as soon as evaluation persiod is done

Submitted(+2)

Cool idea! It felt super great to play, though a little unforgiving when hitting walls, perhaps that could take a chunk out of your oil rather than instantly killing you? The visuals and sound are great, very vibrant colors and I loved the laughter. Great work!

Developer

Hey that's a cool idea actually! We were even thinking of providing endless braking in the game, at the cost of faster oil depletion the longer you press down button!

Tying everything to oil depletion (while providing an appropriate amount of oil barrels on the track) might just give the players a chance and choice to keep playing!

Thank you very much for playing by the way. I will keep your feedback in mind

Submitted(+1)

super fun game!! The visuals are excellent and it feels very satisfying to swerve in front of a car and put oil down at the right moment. I also love the silly noises the cars make when they touch oil.

I think it's a little too difficult. I couldn't get past the desert level due to a combination of too many cars (14 is excessive in my opinion) and too many tight places where you can easily mess up. Being able to brake indefinitely, instead of only for a short window, might help with getting through the sections where you have to weave between signs without it feeling overly difficult.

Two small nitpicks: the traffic cones don't really make sense as obstacles, because I'd expect a car to go through them with no problem. Maybe they should be rocks or sign posts instead? And also, I never came close to running out of oil, so it felt like the whole mechanic with the timer counting down wasn't adding anything. Maybe instead of the system with a timer counting down from 100, it could be streamlined to something like: you have up to three "shots" of oil, and touching an oil barrel replenishes one while making a puddle consumes one.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you so much for playing our game!

Yeah, we wanted to pad up the game with gradually increasing difficulty tracks, but we were short on time so went with 3 distinct looking tracks instead. We will rectify that by adding simpler levels before each track to give players a feel for the controls.

As for the brakes and oil countdown timer, we are planning on instead of cooldown for breaks, there would be endless breaking, but the more players brake, the faster the oil depletes.

Also, we will Playtest and reduce or modify road obstacles too, so that everything feels well balanced in the end.

I love it when someone gives a constructive feedback that makes sense too! You truly are a rockstar, my gamepad-weilding friend ☺️

Submitted(+2)

I love the idea of having to dodge your own oil as you circle back around. I took myself out my first lap haha.  Enemy AI's are very well done too imo. I thought the controls were a little unforgiving and I stopped after failing the forest level a few times on 1 or 2 cars remaining (always hitting the wall), but that's a skill issue tbh. I'll come back to finish later for sure :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! We liked the idea of player creating their own mess...a potential for a bigger idea down the line for this game 🙈

Yeah, we wanted to pass up the game with gradually increasing difficulty tracks, but we were short on time so went with 3 distinct looking tracks instead. We will rectify that by adding simpler levels before each track to give players a feel for the controls.

You are a rockstar for having tried our little WIP! Thank you once again. 😇

Developer(+1)

I implemented the AI, while it is not perfect it gets the job done, seeing a comment praising the enemy AI makes me hugely happy, thank you so much!

Submitted(+1)

haha I feel u. I did almost strictly UI/camera and other behind the scenes stuff for my teams game so when someone comments on it i get so excited lol

Submitted(+1)

Very enjoyable game! It was a bit challenging yet rewarding having to traverse around the various tracks and take out all your enemies with SLICK oil. Great game!

Developer

Yeah, we wish to pad the game up with adding more levels that gradually went up in difficulty, but since we were short on time we went with 3 difficulty stages one after another 😅

We will make sure to make it gradually hard when we can update the game again

Submitted(+2)

I really like the oil slick cam that pops up when you take out a car.

Developer

I'm glad you liked it. 😊

Submitted(+2)

Really enjoyed playing it. The name of the game gave me a laugh and whenever I heard the death sound from enemies I loved it too.
Absolutely loved the backwards camera added to the back of the car too. Was an amazing decision to add for sure and it paid off!

I had some fun trying to make the car do a 180 on the track and go the opposite direction. I wanted to see how it would look and that was fun attempting. I was able to do it eventually which felt like a triumph. Sharting oil right before a head on collision was a way to go out lol.

Developer(+1)

Oh thank you so very much!! I'm surprised you could do a 180 on the road.

We surely would do something regarding that when we expand the idea 😇

Submitted

It was pretty hard to do. Had to think of how you did breaking and realized it was impossible if you immediately brake when trying to turn around. You have to quickly turn and then brake halfway through the turn to stop from running into the side.

Developer(+1)

Daaayyuumm! It sounds like you discovered drifting in our game! I'll be sure to replicate your tact and see whaddup. We might even integrate it in our level design!

Submitted(+2)

Big fan of the visuals and the music, it was a charming game.  It got pretty difficult with all the obstacles on the course in the second level but I enjoyed my time with the game.

Developer

Thank you for your kind words! Yeah the visuals were specifically worked on by 2 brilliant folks in our group, who have an active imagination! 😄

And I'm glad we had the sound artist who not just understood the assignment but also overdelivered analysing gameplay!

Submitted(+2)

i think the world should know of shart circuit for centuries. truly a great game i had fun :D

Developer(+1)

This world is made up of kind people like you. If you played and enjoyed our little game, then we are going in right direction of letting the world know. 😊

Submitted(+2)

The game is quite charming and I really liked the back view when you destroyed another car!

Developer(+1)

And we love the fact that you guys liked that aspect of the game! Thank you for your kind words 😊

Submitted(+2)

Really liked the reverse view of the cars to show when you successfully sabotage someone. That was such a nice touch that made everything work!

Developer (1 edit)

I don't have enough keys on my keyboard to explain how much that means to us 🥰

Submitted(+2)

i really like the destructability of the car, the tire tracks, the rear view camera etc. nice touches to a fun game

Developer

We believe it is not just a well-oiled (pun intended) programming that makes a game, but also the audio visual feel, that makes the interactive media like video games so...well, interactive! And all the other feedback loops are nothing but bare-minimum to transport amazing gamers like you to our imagination 😊

Submitted(+3)

Something that you guys clearly mastered is the clarity of the UI, all the information is perfectly integrated in the gameplay (which also adds to the already beautiful visuals). I love the haze and the lighting, mad jealous of your art direction ! Chapeau :)

Developer

You kind words just made our day 😊

Submitted(+2)

Took a while to get used to, but after I did I was sharting on everyone. I like some of the details like seeing behind you on the back window too.

Also those oil barrels...

Developer

Thank you for trying it out!!

Yeah...I hope you didn't get too oiled up 😛

Submitted(+2)

Very pretty game. Reminds me of driving where I live. NICE JOB!!
