How does your game represent "Slick"?
It's a game about climbing an oil rig, to escape an oil slick in the middle of the sea. Secondarily, I tried to make the octopus feel slick to control.

So cool! I had so much fun trying to finish it as fast as I could, now after seeing the leaderboards I want to optimize my route even more :D

Excellent game. I could not complete the game yet but the game is great. The presentation is incredible. The music is just so good. Everything is well integrated. I realized about the double jump later and there were many things as I was progressing that told me to "read between the lines" and find another way to continue. Amazing experience overall. Great job!.

Super fun game! I really liked it and wish it had checkpoints lmao. I just suck at aiming using my mouse tbh.

Very well made platformer. Loved the overall presentation, especially the octopus. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say the head is a cube which is really the only thing that's animated, whereas the tentacles are physics joints ? None the less, it looked adorable and felt squishy in a good way. Also love the overall look of the level. It felt grungey in an industrial way, but not necessarily all that dirty or grimey. Definitely aided with the adorable tone  of the game.

At first I thought having camera control would be a bit clunky for a 3D platformer, and my thoughts didn't really change since I died a few times because of it due to how my depth perception got a little screwed. However, I grew to appreciate having camera control the more I played. All I needed to do was aim a little differently during each part of the level. Some sections were more easier navigated when I tried a top-down view, some were more easily navigated when I went for a side view and so on. As the game went on, I liked the depth associated with needing to position the camera myself to ensure that my jumps were more precise.

The only thing that I'm not really a fan of is how some sections really required you to jump onto the yellow railings. That felt a bit awkward, especially with how thin the yellow railings were. Or maybe there was another way and I missed it, in which case I take this back, but if that was the intended solution for some of those cases, then I think maybe the railings could've been made slightly more wider.

But that aside, platforming felt fluid and fun. The variety of obstacles and platforming puzzles had the right amount of difficulty to them, and the way you kept upping the challenge with each one felt pretty well paced. All of this also helped ensure that even if I did die, there was only so much ground I had to cover again, but it was also engaging ground to cover again. That really helped the game remain fun even though you start from the beginning.

All in all, I'd say you made a really well polished and awesome entry here. Great stuff

3d platformers are tough to make right, but this one feels so nice to play. Very slick. I had a little bug where the camera was constantly turning but it's probably browser related, just something to look into for later!

thanks for playing!! did you have a controller plugged in by any chance? that can sometimes cause problems like that

Really nice polish! But agree with others that no checkpoints is pretty brutal for a game jam game. I made it pretty far, past some tricky girder jumping and back onto several moving platforms, but didn't make it much further. Nice work! and level design! Also agree with others... what can an octopus do in a platformer that you don't normally do in a platformer? Suction onto walls? swing across monkey bars? Ink blast triple jump? (well squids ink not octopi, but whatever)

The character looks great! Also the movement feels really slick

Omg I was so close this gets so tense, might try later. I really like the art style it looks very cohesive, seems a little hard core without checkpoints but I guess that's the point.

Yo! 3D Octopus Gang! I love that your octo has wild tentacles flailing around! Fun game! Great Job!

fun and slick, love the character

Very polished game, Ioved the little octopus fella and the movement felt a little slippery but still decently snappy. I did wish there were some checkpoints in the game (or maybe like a setting to toggle checkpoint or more hardcore), the runbacks can get a bit frustrating.

The game feels really good to play! The momentum makes jumping just heavy enough to add some good risk and force commitment to jumping. I also like the art style, it's a little pico 8 which is a fun thing to see in action in 3D.

The best presented game I've played yet, everything is polished aesthetically and gamefeely. The jump feels solid and I like the little flip on double jump.
I got so far and seeing the beginning of the game again made me leave, I had the exact same thought as someone said below, "no checkpoints is criminal". It's an easy fix to lessen a lot of frustration. I also feel like the theme is original, but mechanically it's no different from anything I've played before, there's definitely opportunity to expand on what a player playing an octopus might be able to do. Would love to see how future development goes, really nice work making this look and sound like a paid product!

Thank you so much for playing and commenting!! I'm really sorry about the lack of checkpoints, they are #1 on my list of things to add post-jam

its fun, no joke — get 5 stars!

Loved the little tentacles!

no checkpoints is criminal. Still a really fun game good job!

Really solid platformer with pleasant artstyle. In my opinion the contrast difference between some platforms and the water was  too low and the game badly needs some checkpoints. Restarting from a checkpoint could add 10 seconds to players time, if you want to keep the competitive nature of the game. The character controller was really responsive and I might even try to speedrun this game later. Great job!

thank you so much for playing!! sorry for the lack of checkpoints, many people have commented about it so I will probably add them with a post-jam update

That would be nice. I got a completion time of 2:18:69, but missed a shortcut so there still room for improvement :)
