Very nice job, you said when I found the Sax "if you're still here" .... indeed I am

I would honestly be surprised if this game doesn't win. It's absolutely incredible and everyone involved did such a fantastic job! Everything from the soundtrack to the sprites to even just the way the game controls all feel amazing. Despite all of this though, there are a few critiques I'd like to share!

While the game definitely features a "crafting" system, it doesn't really feel like it. It feels more like a "collect X amount of points to finish the stage" than "craft a certain item to finish the stage", though I understand that due to time constraints having much more than that would be difficult.

Second, I don't exactly feel the Alien theme was utilised very well, as the "villain" of the game essentially just mentions offhandedly that they're an alien, which almost feels like it was thrown in just to fit the theme. This may be a very minor nitpick, though it's something I noticed nonetheless.

Finally, and this one I'm aware has already been mentioned a lot, it feels as though a lot of damage (especially during the boss fight segment) is unavoidable, which can definitely be frustrating to play. This didn't happen too often when I played, though when it does it's extremely annoying. That said, it's not really something I can think of any immediate fix for, due to the randomness of the bullets.

Once again though, the game is incredible despite these rather minor drawbacks. If anyone is reading this comment who hasn't given the game a try yet, I can't recommend it enough.

And for the dev team, congrats on winning in advance, because I don't think it's possible to top this. I'd love to see this become a full game some day!

This game deserves to win. Hands down, I'm man enough to admit that. I know it seems like I'm exaggerating here, but not only do I know how hard rhythm games are to make, you had a perfectly polished experience from beginning to end.  The music, great. The art, excellent. The presentation, beyond great. The style and showmanship on display here is just phenomenal. I know its derivative of Crypt of The Necrodancer but honestly for something made in TEN DAYS, I am beyond impressed. Excellent work, all around! Seriously.

If you have time, come check out our game Zixels 2.

Awesome game! I liked it a lot even though I am realy bad with rhythm games. :-)

Developer

Glad you had a wonderful experience!

Astonishing how you can make a game, that while playing feels like actually dancing.
I had a great time playing this, the dialog is sooo funny (great writing!) and the visuals look great as well. I enjoyed every second. Well done!

Developer

Thank you very much, the dialog was my favorite part too.

Excellent game on every front, and very polished! Great visuals and game feel,  which really get you into the beat.
I really enjoyed the cute story with Failpositive :)
The boss fight I found to be quite difficult, and at times it seemed like taking damage was innevitable? Although it could be that I just don't have enough inner rhythm!

Hope you where able to reach the end and thank you very much for the kind words.

Managed to beat it after a few attempts, and stayed with Failpostive!

Solid rythm game mechanics. It certainly immediatly reminds of Crypt of the Necrodancer.

Developer

Thank you for your nice comment, btw it also reminds me of Crypt of the NecroDancer

Amazing game, I stopped after 3 retries of the boss fight because I'm a reaaaaaally bad player (I tend to stay max 5 minutes on crypt of the necrodancer). Gorgeous art, excellent music and polished Gameplay. A huge congrats to the whole team.

Great game! I really enjoyed playing it! Poor little Alien :C

Great game, got to watch my other teammate play it! It's really fun to watch and to listen to, as a musician myself!

The only thing that I felt was a bit off is, the crafting! While yes, we farm ore, to make the sword and thus do damage. While this is in fact "crafting", I feel like it's not the kind of crafting I would have expected as a main theme.

If anything I'd say that this is a rhythm game first and foremost before crafting.

Otherwise, 10/10 would purchase a full version if it ever comes to it!

Really nice take on Crypt of the Necrodancer. This game was wholesome in the best way possible and very challenging. I was barely able to beat the last boss fight with one life left and was on the edge my seat. Everything was very polished, especially for a gamejam game. Incredible work :)

Developer

Haha thank you much love sent your way

Amazing quality!  Had fun the whole time!  Moving through projectiles took a bit of getting used to but once you get it it felt really good.
