More speed would have been better

Quite a good game! Lost some points though because you showed you were able to utilize great feedback elements when getting the score, but didn't seem to use them in other situations... or perhaps I simply missed because I didn't play the game enough. People said the controls were great, if that's the case then awesome but, for me I think it could've had some extra polish. Very good entry!

You really nailed the movement (but please put jumping on "K" and dashing on "J"). The art-style is nice and I liked that the music changed. Well done!

I don't understand why your game is not under the most rated. It's great! Fits the theme pretty good in my opinion and feels awesome to play. But then I got further and damn it got difficult, man. I personally love your the way you transition between scenes/deaths but it takes sooo long after every death that deaths feel just a lot more punishing. You will die a lot while playing so it makes you hate the beautiful transition in the end. That's the only negative I could think of. :D

Good Game :D But it could be better with some story. Other than that its a well good title. :))))

if you would like to test my game:

Really cool idea! Reminds me of the dash in Celeste. The controls are super tricky though, so I ended up quitting before finishing it. Nice graphics though and super good sound! Well done.

Can you please turn this into an actual game?!!? I think I spent a good half an hour playing this game haha! I had a bit of difficulty controlling it but I think thats just my fault for being bad haha! Great job on making the game! I am super impressed :) The artwork, the music and sound design, how each level you introduced new song to give a sense of progress in the game is just genius! Well done :) 5/5 for me

Best suit for the topic! keyboard = switch Level music was SO annoying. I could finish the game and enjoyed a lot. back story: Perfect.

I could get to the 25 block on level 7 but couldn't push it down, so I didn't finish the game, but I liked what I saw. I really liked the visuals and audio, but some of the levels were quite unintuitive, especially the third one, I had to look up a comment to finish it because I didn't know the text was collidable

hey, great game! i had a great time playing it. graphics and music work really well together, and this is perfect for the theme. i wasn't able to make it that far but enjoyed what i could do!

The game is quite polished and style is consistent. Music is very appropriate. Controls are really hard to handle, in fact second stage was really really difficult. If you wanna keep working on this game I would dash with W button.

My 2 cents.

Wow! Interesting idea and great visuals!

Very nice, kinda hard, Love the scenes transition and it would be good to make them shorter after losing.

Really like this game :)

The visuals are nice, what font did you use? I didn't like the music at first, but it has grown on me. However, I want to go through the stages with you since I put so much effort into beating your game. So, here we go:

  • Stage 1 is good; clear what to do and explains the basics well.
  • My god stage 2 is difficult, the controls are just a mess. Move with AD or left/right arrow, jump with space and dash with left shift. Why not allow W and arrow up for jumping as well and also check right shift for dash? It also wasn't all that clear the player can dash upwards.
  • Now stage 3 is ingenious if the player has noticed in earlier stages that the instructions are physical, otherwise they will probably give up.
  • Stage 4 is not too difficult, just move the text down so that you can use it as a platform. Though, the player might think that they need to set the colour to something else or that the goal is now something else. Since they associate the blue colour with the goal, not the @.
  • Stage 5 is mostly great; what you need to do is clear, but the text can easily get stuck in some position forcing the player to do it all over again. Especially if you try to move it close to the right wall, seems to be alright close to the centre of the level though.
  • Stage 6 kinda has the same issue as stage 5; it's a bit of a pain to get the true text down. In my first attempt it went perfectly in one go (then died), but the times after that were hard (especially with the purple death right in the centre of the level).
  • Stage 7, wait I can dash multiple times?
  • So, in stage 8 you mess with the controls. They were already bad, but now the game is just unplayable. I guess that I have to go to the left and then up, but I just can't get over the little # bumb with all the purple and the switched controls.
  • Stage 9 and stage 10; I don't know, didn't make it that far.

Sorry that the controls gave you so much trouble. I'm really used to games with that type of layout, so I thought that would be the easiest way to set it up. Good to know for the future!

I appreciate your stage-by-stage analysis as well. I agree that the last level was too hard, and that some of the physics interactions made moving the text around a bit too frustrating.

I appreciate your patience with the game! And your feedback is very insightful. Also, the font was custom made by me for this game :)

you go up to the right, under the leve, then up around th left to the top of the level, i can't figure it out after that though

A fully functional and polished game with nice visuals and amazing sounds + Music = 😍

It was really fun to play, I especially loved the cute animations of roachy. The levels were cleverly designed and overall a well put together game 😄. Would 10/10 recommend playing.

Simple, well thought out, beautiful graphics, good music and excellent puzzles! Best jam game so far! The only thing that gave me agony was the movement, but otherwise the game is impeccable! Congratulations to the developers ;D

Polished to the perfection, i personally think that you've done an amazing job here. 10/10 would break my fingers trying to beat that switched level again. Even though i hate you for doing that to me i absolutely love the game!!!

Developer(+1)

Lol, I regret making that final level so hard, but I was about an hour out from the deadline at that point, so I kinda just threw it together.

I appreciate your kind words :)

You really shouldn't regret any single part of the game, maybe its just too hard for game jam where most of the people don't put as much time in testing the single game. It took me a lot to get used to scrambled inputs.

Visuals and music are cool. Controls are buggy so, well done! Couldn't get too far though. Screen kept going black

Roachy is dead because of me x_x
I failed you Roachy!!!

I really like the visuals and graphics, especially the use of the sine effect. I had an issue with my UX... the shift button didn't trigger the dash mechanic in the tutorial level :( I'd really like to finish playing this game. Cool app btw. ^^

Developer(+1)

I did a poor job of explaining this in game, but you have to be holding WASD when you press shift to activate dash. Sorry that it wasn't clear :P

No worries! I'll give it another try asap.
