Pressing restart always triggered a restart, even if it was pressing during the death animation. This lead to moments where I was waiting on a queue of restarts to each reset the character. On a similar note, I think restarting could've been quicker. I also would've liked the camera to always roughly center on the player, especially between different segments of the level, although I'm not sure if that would necessarily be a good change.

I thought the glitch mechanic itself was clean and well supported by the pixel art.

Fun to play, good job!

Really good concept and design of the level, it was really fun playing and it really felt like I was bugging through the last level of a game.

The boot screen should probably be skippable. The sound effects, visuals and music are extremely fitting and the game itself is very fun. Checkpoints could have been set a little bit more generous but that is only my own opinion. :)

Well, I got stuck in a wall :P love the visuals and sound. Don't make players sit through such a long boot screen (as great as it was thematically!). Jumping felt too high, but also loved the feel of when you first jump into a bug.

A really well-done 8-bit old-school platformer. Although it felt a little like a rage game sometimes, it was neat experience. The audiovisual quality makes me question whether this a a NES/SNES game. :D

Overall, had lots of fun, really enjoyed playing! :)

Only 2043 errors? laaaame I figure you'd go for something like 69696964684864686969696 but its ok I guess xD overall I found it to be a very cute little platformer, good job!

The glitch-trail while dashing looks really neat.

That's a no joke submission. Beautiful game!

With the color palette and post processing one of the best looking games of the jam for sure. Very coherent style and pretty cool core mechanic. Feels quite polished and well put together.

I just wish you would have followed through on the "last level" topic a bit more. The boot up sequence where you see that the last level is loaded with 3427 errors or something like that is a great and super intriguing introduction but then after that it feels like the game doesn't really go with it that much. Yes it's hard as hell, yes it has a couple of glitched blocks here and there but you could have went way more all in on your idea I think. Tons of enemies, some of them maybe even glitched so they can't hurt you anymore or glitched in a way you where you can't get past them and you have to cheat your way through the level by glitching through walls... :D

Either way, great game. Well put together. Nice, nice. :)

I think the main cause of me not leaning far enough into the 'last level' idea was mostly down to time and resources. If I was not working by myself, or had more than 72 hours, then I would have had the time to add more enemies and rooms that play to that glitched concept. I even had the idea of adding a boss monster that got more glitched/broken the longer you lasted. But since I was by myself, I decided to limit the number of enemies so I could explore loads of different placements and combinations, and even then wasn't able to completely explore all that I had.

But thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it even if it wasn't what you were hoping for.

The solution here would have been to make a smaller level with fewer different enemies.... :P
But I totally get what you're saying. I agree that with a bit of additional time on your hand the result might have looked entirely different. :)

I really like the opening presentation! Very cool indeed! ^ ^ Very cool gameplay concept, although I did find it difficult to control the player... wall jump in particular. Overall, pretty cool game.

This is a really fun game, with great visuals and sounds. The only problem i have is the sudden change in difficulty

Submitted(+1)

Cool premise and excellent visuals. The glitch mechanic was fun once I figured it out. Awesome work!

Submitted(+1)

I really like this! I don't know how you did this so fast. Only critique is the difficulty spikes.

This is one of the best game gameplaywise i've played , it really look like  a finished game , i hope you will be able to explore the first level in a future update maybe?

I like the art style and how there was no cooldown on the dash so you could dash around the levels.

Please take some time to rate my game.

Great game! Love the concept and graphics and sound! The game is a bit hard though (you must get this a lot). Nicely done!

Very good entry.
Sound design is great, art is very ,very good (I looove this retroish pixel style !).
It is a 'simple' (if I may say so) platformer game, with cool mechanics.
I found it a biiit too hard to be perfectly honest, but maybe it just needs time to get the hang of it !

Overall, I had a very very good experience, take my stars, they're well deserved !

Thanks for the feedback! Difficulty is something a lot of people are bringing up, and I think that's due to both time constraints and the testing mostly being done by me who got skilled at my own game. And it's perfectly fine you calling it a simple platformer, it is meant to be!

This is the best game on the game jam from the games I've played today. I've got to the checkpoint on your last screenshot. I've found the Vessel (Hollow Knight reference). HK is my favourite game, so I really liked the reference and the art of it. But the following room is too hard for me:

The previous ones are hard as well, but I've started dashing upwards and reached the checkpoint and the hollow knight reference. The last 2 checkpoints I've reached were really confusing. The game started branching too much and I wasn't sure where to go. But still the best game so far! Great art, great audio, satisfying dash feature. You could've made a wall climbing instead of the sticky walls, but it's not big deal. You did a great job. Did you make this alone?

5/5 WOWIEEEEE

Developer(+1)

I'm glad to hear you managed to find the Hollow Knight easter egg, I was unsure anyone would be able to find that! And if you want to get through that room, you have to constantly glitch forwards fast enough to avoid the orange enemies. Yeah I did make this alone, that's probably why the level design isn't as great as it could be due to time.

Let me know if you get past that room (it's the last room), and if you're able to find all 5 easter eggs!
