Great graphics, and the story works. Fits the limitation really well.

I like the attack, but using J and X as action buttons is weird on a QWERTY keyboard.

Quite amazing for one person to make this in such a short time.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! And there are two control schemes. WASD J K or ARROW KEYS Z X, you seemed to have mixed and matched them, I should have put controls on the page but I didn't think of it

This was such a nostalgia trip!  I loved it!

Developer

Glad I could provide you with some nostalgia!

Impressive! I loved the GB feeling of the game and the buffed boss made me laugh!

Congratulations :)

Developer

thank you very much! I’m glad you enjoyed! :)

Seemed interesting, although not really my type..

As said by others, it would have been nice if you had actually told us the controls, instead of us having to guess.

However the gameboy aesthetic was amazing, and it fit the restriction well

Developer

Well I’m glad you enjoyed the aesthetic!

Would you mind putting controls instruction the game description? Looks interesting but i am having trouble understanding how to interact and continue in dialogues.

Developer

yeah I was making the page at 6am after pulling an all nighter and didn’t think of it. Use arrow keys and Z is interact and X is attack

Thank you!

Simple and good game play. Well done! Controls could use a little improvement.

Thank you for the feedback! :)

This is a great little game, I enjoyed playing through it. I love the art and music and the fact that it can be played on a GameBoy is awesome.

I found the hit detection on the player a little wonky. With the bosses specifically, it was a bit hard to tell if I was hitting the boss or if I was getting hit. I also found a bug with the final boss where it and the one minion left didn't do anything after I died, respawned, and came back. I was able to just walk and hit it until it died.

Fantastic effort and a great game.

Developer

Thank you very much, to be honest, I thought I had 1 day less on the jam and ended up working till 7am so the final boss isn't the cleanest, but I appreciate the feedback and am glad you enjoyed!

Bugs happen all the time and it did nothing to hamper my experience with your game. Seriously, this is a great game and a really impressive accomplishment!

Great story and art style. The controls felt a little bit clunky but other than that good job!

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed!

Very good game with nice story. Well implemented, I was looking to use the swiss army paradigm for the focus but couldn't put together an idea like this. Likes are subjective but I really disliked the audio in general, although I understand it's part of the 8-bit asethetic/style you created. Overall well executed.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, sorry you didn't enjoy the audio, I'll look to improve that in future titles

What I liked :

  • Gameboy aesthetic
  • Music
  • Duration is just what it needs
  • Narrative

What could be improved :

  • Show [Z] key for dialogue.
  • A shorter cool down between knife strike will make the fight more interesting
  • I found Boss #1 much harder than Boss #2 , because there is no safe spot.

Hope it helps

Developer

Thank you for the feedback. I will look to improve these in the future!

You're truly creative and I like the aesthetic of the game , its challenging but overall fun I might have missed something but I didn't encounter any glitched or bugs overall the experience was smooth so no complaints , you nailed the music and sfx therefore you deserve a solid rating from me!

Thank you very much! I appreciate the praise. I'm happy you enjoyed the game :)

i like the gameboy aesthetic but, the bee boss was a bit to much of a challenge. otherwise great game.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!

Anything that reminds me of Link's Awakening gets a thumbs up in my book. :)

Unfortunately, I found the controls too stiff to handle the combat well, and I was never able to beat the boss. It's a shame because I wanted to see what happened next in the quest.

There appears to be screenshake, but no SFX, when I strike the boss. An audio cue would be helpful, as would a boss health bar. I can't tell how close I got to defeating him.

Developer(+1)

I appreciate the feedback, the boss health ended up falling more into the game boy limitations for a number of frames of animation but I will definitely keep that in mind for future games. And if you were curious at all, the First boss has 8 health and the final has 20 in case you felt like revisiting the game. Thank you for playing!

What a fun little adventure. I'm a sucker for that game boy aesthetic and you really nailed that from the 3 tone color to the low res synth music. Couple suggestions though, I think a flashing (z) button to prompt the player to continue text or cutscenes goes a long way because I didn't know the controls at the start. Also I completely missed the girl who gave out quests so maybe give her some more animation to prompt the player to talk to her?

Other than that I thought it was a solid entry to this jam, also I think I found an exploit on the final wasp boss and just stood above him attacking down not taking any damage lol.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback, I will take your advice for future projects. I'm glad you enjoyed the game :)

What I liked:

  • Art style
  • Music

My suggestions:

  • The Bee boss was a tad bit too difficult for me (maybe this is a user error, lol) but making it easier would stop players from being stuck in one section for too long.
  • Both mobs and the player should be able to move in the same direction. It was hard to align the shots right when they were moving diagonally.

Overall a nice and fun game! Good job.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback, lots of people ended up struggling with the bee boss, I definitely should have toned him down. I'm glad you enjoyed it though!

I couldn't seem to move the character around anymore after leaving the first room :(

Loved the art though

Thanks, sorry I forget that every time. Cool game, I think my only critiques might just come down to GB Studio, like the movement being rigid, and the screen wrapping on shake. Also when I die it seems like it loads the cabin scene twice. It’s really cool that it can run on a gameboy though

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! Glad you figured it out!

Very cool and short adeventure! Loved that I could play this on my phone like a game boy. I think that maybe the walking animation was a bit slow and it made the player look like thet were gliding around. Boss fights were very cool, just wish they had a health bar.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the feedback!

Definitely nailed the aesthetic you were going for. Good job!

Developer

thanks man, appreciate it!
