I like the idea of the game. The crow is hilarious!

The visuals are nice, the animated background is pretty cool, and the music is great. It has a pretty nice atmosphere and you captured the dry desert feel quite well.

The controls and the game itself could be a little bit more forgiving. It's super easy to die, but maybe this is the whole idea like in Flappy Birds.

Overall a nice little game. Good job!

Developer

Thanks so much for your comments and glad you liked it! I agree the game could be more forgiving, especially platforms.

Clever implementation of the jam focus. The idea of a crow finding a straw that makes him invincible reminds me of the plot of "The Gods Must Be Crazy."  The graphics are very attractive, with an excellent palette and a cool "heat distortion" effect. The music is also pretty good.

I found the crow somewhat difficult to control, though. I think this is primarily because it moves so fast, especially on the vertical axis. I would fly above the viewable area of the screen and suddenly I would be far higher than I imagined, and it would be difficult to estimate when I would reappear on descent. For the same reason, I could hardly hit anything with the blowgun function...

Thanks so much for your kind comments!!! I found it fun to fly off screen then let myself fall and get me flying back again. But I digress. In general I see people found it a bit difficult to keep track of everything. I guess I have somewhat of a tendency to make games complicated, I need to learn to make them simpler and easier.

Thanks for the comments regarding the music, I composed it and performed it as well. Glad you liked it.

I liked the crow idea. It's an interesting take on the theme. I played with the controller and that all hooked up nicely. Once the game loop had settled in my mind I found it a nice game. If I had to give feedback I would say the movement could do with a little more fluidity. I have been playing a lot of Badlands with my son recently and it has maybe spoiled me. This felt a bit clunky compared to that. I also felt like I had saved myself from going to low but still triggered the fall state and that deprived me of a near miss that everything else seemed to indicate was successful. Any way all minor opportunities to improve this great game. Good work

Developer

Thanks so much for your kind comments! I didn't know about Badlands but checked out the trailer and it looks sick!

The camera locking and unlocking was weird, and I'm not very good at flappy bird. Otherwise the game was good.

Developer

Thanks for your comments. Not sure what you mean about the camera locking and unlocking, the camera actually does not move, you only move the bird (either flap or move left/right) and the rest is a visual effect (by moving the background layers and the platforms/items).

That was pretty fun, I liked the flappy bird mixed with gameplay similar to the flying levels in Cuphead. The multi-use of the straw was a pretty clever take on the jam focus too. I think the only thing I would change is to not make the player die when hitting a platform or adding something like spikes to let the player know they are dangerous. Other than that, I really liked this one, and the heat wave distortion effect on the background worked super well!

Developer

Thanks so much! Yeah, maybe a hard mode where you die with platforms and a normal mode where you don't crash but rather land. Wasn't able to do play testing with others before publishing.

The game is very nice. I liked that you could land, but flying you had to keep tapping the flap button, so it was sort of like flappy bird, but controls you could actually use. The sounds were a little grating when I had it on suction, but you could turn the sounds off which was nice. It was a little hard to aim when moving, but i still had lots of fun! good game!

Developer

Thanks, glad you liked it! Regarding the suction sound I think you are referring to it looping rather than volume right? Aiming is admittedly much harder with gamepad than with mouse (I think it's easy to ain with the mouse, at least for me!)

Submitted

yeah sorry, i meant the looping. and i was using mouse anyway

I Really Like The Way You Used The Theme, I Expected More Cooking Games ;P The Controls Are Very Responsive And Easy To Learn!

Thanks! Glad you found the controls easy/responsive, I wasn't able to playtest it with other people before submitting.
