I guess I didn't read the controls carefully enough and I was very confused at the beginning, but this is actually a really interesting and cool idea. There are so many puzzle possibilities with it, and you explored a lot in the levels I played. It got a bit buggy in not letting me place things in some levels, but I managed to get to the level with the fire torches inside (it would be nice to see how many levels are left). Very consistent aesthetic and great puzzle design. Excellent job!

The game looks really nice!

Many have already mentioned the solid implementation of the theme so I guess that's a given :)

Bonus points for clever puzzles, I know in fact those aren't easy to come up with.

Well done!

Really cleaver implementation of the multi-use. I also liked the music and the graphics. The difficult progression was good for me as well. Overall, great game, congrats!

Overall great presentation! The audio and visuals were really cohesive and pleasant. Your puzzle designs were the best part of the game for me! I think locking movement to a grid would have helped some of the fiddley-ness of selecting the right object and moving around obstacles.

This was a super clever take on the jam focus, it turned into a brain wrenching puzzle trying to figure out what inputs you need to keep and ones you need to leave behind to move on. Some of the levels got really difficult though, one toward the end with all the archers and teleporters took me a long time to get through. If you fix the weird responsiveness of dropping actions and picking them up from objects like some of the other comments mentioned, you could have something you could sell here!

I really enjoyed playing this one and you got high ratings from me!

Developer

Thank you so much, also extra thanks for playing it late into the game, it’s a jam and I really appreciate you taking the extra time to leave feedback on some of the later levels. The responsiveness thing is first on my list to fix after the jam :)

the game is really pretty, love the atmosphere

the implementation of the theme is really creative, really enjoyed it!

What I liked :

  • Fantastic puzzle mechanic (already seen, but not used in this clever way)
  • Level design is progressive
  • Head-scratching puzzles

What could be improved:

  • Using the mouse. I would prefer something like using space an action key to give the action, then just space to retrieve it.
  • Don't see easily when I can take an action, particle-effect is too long to warm and too subtle. I think you could simply change the frame of the action with alternate colour, and add a subtle SFX for entering/leaving an object zone.
  • Bug: Sometime action can't be taken/set even with the particle effect indicating you that you can.

Hope it helps.

Overall, that's a great game.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! It definitely helps. I especially like the note about the particle effects, that’s very actionable and quick to address!

High points for theme, I like the out of the box idea use and concept of exchanging the buttons. Didn't take to long to wrap my head around the concept of it. I liked the way all the puzzels evolved and continued to be intersting throughout, although maybe a little too long. Really beautiful grahics too.

My only minor issue is just detection of objects trying to give them buttons, and trying to get other object to move the player would push him off in a differnt dirrection if the angle is not just right.

Otherwise very good job great stuff!

Thanks so much for the feedback! Really wish I spent more time on the detection thing you mentioned since its so core to the game loop. And really great idea about the pushing directions, I should’ve made the colliders all squares I think

I love coming to a jam game and coming across something so off the wall. I'm getting some real Baba Is You energy, and I mean that in the best possible way.

A tremendous amount of content, too--I would imagine that coming up with these extremely unconventional puzzles is very time-consuming. I didn't quite beat it, but I got to the =1 and >2 puzzles before I threw in the towel.

The graphics remind me of the Game Boy, so obviously I really like them. The sound is pretty good.

Occasionally the range determination would misfire. I knew I was in range because the little square would pop up, but I couldn't place an action in it; I would get the rejection sound.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much, your comment is super nice and I really really appreciate it. And thanks for the feedback in there too.

Unfortunately yeah the range detection isn’t great :( you can fix it by leaving the zone and reentering but I understand that’s frustrating. I coded it pretty poorly and tried to improve it a few times but nothing really came together in time.

It works very well, regardless. And above all, it's a very original idea. You might want to consider doing even more with it.

This game is awesome! It is a really cool idea and the mechanics is very nice. Your puzzles are very weel thought and done. Congratulations!!!

Sometimes I clicked in the action to give it to the rock and it wouldn't do it. Don't know what i did wrong. One more feedback is that for a jam game, it should be shorter. It is very long and I wanted to have time to play other ones, so I didn't get to the end. But I loved it!

Touching the present doesn't give me movement up and down, used the present collision to move up and then left into the door.

Then moving forward I was stuck, no action on any interactables, and couldn't move back.

Willing to try again if there's something I'm doing wrong.

Developer(+1)

How are you trying to get the actions? Are you clicking them while in range?

Submitted

Moved into range, and pressed E

Developer(+1)

Yeah, you need to click on them either in your inventory or above the thing you want to take from. E is only for talking to things when you both have the speak action

Submitted(+1)

I got it, I was clicking the present. My bad

Developer

Replied at the same time lol. Don’t apologize I really appreciate hearing peoples’ experience bc it’ll help me explain these sorts of things better :)

Submitted(+1)

Thank you for explaining, I gave it another shot and honestly it's such an awesome implementation on reuse.

I loved it.

I got stuck at the tree stump, but it gave me a nice overall idea.

Congratulations!

Thanks a bunch for leaving actionable feedback and giving it a second shot! Really appreciate it
