I really loved playing this game and laughing at the wacky jokes and ending (no spoilers tthough).

I did have to use the help list on the page because I was really confused (really good idea to add that). Really really cool game and I cannot imagine how hard it must have been to put it all together

Very hot. Me likey.

(I don't know much about point and click games, so I don't know how to give feedback. That being said, I enjoyed the game, the art, the music and sound design, and the humour).

Good Job!

Cool game that reminds me of adventures in the 90s. Nothing made sense in these games but they were fun to play and only beatable by reading a walkthrough, which was quite hard without the Internet.

The visuals are nice. The writing and humour were great. I love the small details like using a thermostat as volume bar for sound and music, and did I spot THE internet in the cabinet?

The solutions could be a bit more logical for my taste and as someone mentioned in another comment, it would be nice if the solutions to different problems could be solved independently without doing an unrelated step before, but for the short time given in the jam this is a really nice and enjoyable entry.

Great work!

Thank you so much for the kind and useful feedback!

I'm really happy to hear that someone recognised The Internet :)

I do appreciate the underlying pun happening in this game with it being about turning up the heat, and hot sauce (also turning up the heat) being multiple use. I was upset with it in the beginning because it was so bait-and-switch (try cutting actually try hot sauce) but being able to actually use other items made it more of a punchline than a trick, and i think thats where the script shines. Honestly I also got stuck at the “I should look at the computer a bit more first” and “I don’t have any reason to look at the computer” even though I also need to print something and have the password :(

Typing some thoughts as I play:

  • the icicles on the dialogue window are a really nice touch! Same thing with the thermometers
  • I like the sound effect that plays when the dialogue plays out
  • the different flavor text for trying different items was cool, i appreciate how there wasn’t just a stock “this won’t work” message and it felt personal
  • at first I didn’t realize you needed to drag and drop the items, I thought you could select one and then select where to use it. Idk if its worth having the flavor text on clicking them
  • i wish there was more of a visual for the wasp puzzle
  • “the bats have made a nice home here” oh man it’s bats in the mouse hole???

Thank you so much for the kind and thorough feedback!

It seems that several people have become stuck at the same point with the computer, but I have not been able to confirm that it's a bug. Do you recall if you had used the wrench and hotsauce on the thermostat already? The thermostat should tell you to use the computer. (Also,  out of interest, did you use the sandwich on the mouse hole to get the key?).

Submitted

I had used the wrench on the thermostat but maybe not the hot sauce.. I don’t remember honestly. I did have the key, yes

Submitted

Really nice game although having hot sauce as the solution for so much felt really unsatisfying.

Point&Click game! I missed those.

I gotta say I once tried to make one, but I felt like the art had to look really well and the writing to be top notch for it to work, so I gave up quite fast. The fact that this game felt really good for me, the writing was sharp and it looked great made it a whole lot more impressive. Great job!

Interesting point&click. Got stuck with a printer ready to print, the Colin's password, but when I try to use it I've got "I should look at the computer a bit more first". So I try all combination I can, but did not find what to do next. I look the the walk-through and I've done all it is written, but I fix the printer, before unlocking the PC...

Overall, there a lot of humour, and a good atmosphere. Congratz

HOTSAUCE also i got stuck on the computer, looked at the hints, did that and it still just said to look at the computer more so idk but good game from what i was able to play :D

Thanks for playing! Sorry you got stuck, I hope it's not a bug. Did you use the instructions under "Attempt to fix the thermostat" before doing the ones under "Unlock the computer"?

Nice game. Really good script!

Just pour hotsauce on everyting is the solution to every problem. That's true in this game & in real life.
Cool game :)

The writing was amazing, the sound effects and animation were amazing, and it was super funny! This is probably my favorite one I've played so far! Loved the red stapler and hilarious implementation of multi-use. This was super fun!

I got stuck at the beginning trying relentlessly to make spicy water, but went back and tried again and got it. For a bit. Then I got stuck again (need to print something, computer password just said need to look at the computer more, looking at the computer didn't change that)...T.T which is a shame because  I mean this was just great! I would have liked the game to acknowledge that I got what was going on even though it didn't make sense near the end though, like with the printer ink and making me try it, I think at that point it would have been funnier to just have the game say "well, this doesn't make sense since I have the printer ink, but at this point why not?" By that point I was like, oh I know what to do, but it wouldn't let me do it.

Really way to go, 10/10

I'm going to try it again for sure, I want to see all the writing!

I thought about it a little more and the only design thing I'd say is to maybe let the player experiment a little more off rails. Sometimes it makes sense to block the player from doing one thing before another thing, but sometimes it doesn't (like having to try one item and then use the other so the in game character catches up to the real life player thoughts, it's nice to have them more in sync). It's better to block the ability to get the needed item entirely than say that they're wrong for using the item on the thing when they aren't. For instance, once I figured out the pattern it would have been nice (and I likely wouldn't have gotten stuck) if I would have been able to try something crazy and it just works (maybe have the character be surprised by it working).

It also has to do with the normal flow for adventure games and what people are expecting, for instance if your game requires trying Item A on Thing 1 and then trying Item B on Thing 1 it can make people stuck if they've already tried Item B on Thing 1 (why would it change). While it may totally make sense in your game, people may just never try Item B again because in most games it wouldn't change the outcome. It feels a little crazy and desperate to try something you've already tried and been told no. Technically your game is more clever than a lot of other adventure games, but because of the context it ends up being confusing.

I'm only giving this much feedback BECAUSE I think it's already great! Also, if you want to delve deeper into giving clear instructions/feedback, I'd highly recommend Don't Shoot The Dog, which is a book from an entirely different domain - animal training and operant conditioning - but I think a lot of the lessons can really apply to game design.

Amazing! So funny, everytime I had to use the hotsauce it got funnier and funnier, somehow never saw it coming. Great work 10/10

Really Cool Game, I Didn't Really Know How To Play At First But Later The Game Felt Really Good After, I Like The Art. That All, Good Game ;P

A point click adventure, I love it <3

I like the vibe this game gives. I couldn't finish as I got stuck but up until then it was fun to make new discoveries and progress. I also like the story and Colin's character being built.

Lovely pixel graphics. The writing is hilarious, and perfectly captures the casual sociopathy of white collar work.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get to the end. Those point and clickers used to defeat me back in the 90s, too. :)

One suggestion: The initial description of each item you can inspect appears once, then never again. It would be helpful to allow the player to view it more than once.
