LOVE the design in this game! The whole multiple bread gun thing was an excellent take on the theme, but that touch where you can eat your weapon to heal was genius. I really like it when games have that aesthetic of 2D sprites in a 3D world, gives me some Grandia and DOOM (or Adventures of Square based on the palette) vibes. Great stuff!

There's not enough games in this world that let you eat your gun. That and the name of the game are where this truly excels. I had a good chuckle when the ducks popped up and I realized why I was baking a loaf of bread. Few games in jams get the chuckle from me, so you have earned very high marks from me sir. As a side note, I wouldn't call if a criticism but please consider making the font a bit bigger in the settings menu...I could not read that at all lol fortunately the normal gameplay font was fine so no issues

Loved the idea of baking an edible gun. Really really cool! I did got a bit confused with it at first, but I had a good time. Great job!

Such a clever take on an FPS. Also awesome SFX considering you made them by yourself. “Big duck” made me laugh, I’m a big fan of bosses just named what they are lol

Typing some thoughts as I play:

  • the default unity UI kind of clashes with the rest of the art (which takes away from it because the art is really good and better than the unity ui)
  • the volume sliders appear to not be working?
  • “space to eat gun” is fantastic
  • I’m always impressed by 3d game jam entries. Also I really like the stylistic consistency, e.g. the pretzel crosshair
  • some of the models’ hitboxes are a little wide, so bullets will disappear even if they’re wide of the flour bin for example
  • Is the spawn location random? I kept trying to get the ducks to spawn on top of me but they never did. If you coded around that then that’s a nice touch :)
  • 10 rounds per wave feels like a lot when each one is not very varied, maybe the first few could be shorter then make them longer once the enemies start mixing?
  • the song is really well done but it got a little tiring after a while
  • are the guns random? i got two different breads

Thanks for playing! Glad you liked the pretzel crosshair, that was my favorite little detail.

  • i really wanted to do my own UI, but ran out of time. That and particles were the things that got cut for time.
  • yeah dunno what happened with the volume sliders lol
  • they spawn in one of three locations randomly
  • 10 is definitely pretty long yeah
  • yeah, the melody is so repetitive
  • you can knead the dough up to 9 times to get 3 different guns, and it cycles back through them!

Thanks for the feedback! :)

Oh man I probably played this longer than I should have. I kinda blindly ran the game without looking at the pictures and was very confused about having to bake bread... but when I saw the ducks I just busted up laughing as I shot them with bready goodness! Loved the fact that you can eat your gun for HP and that you can keep kneading the dough to make different types of guns. Lots of fun fighting off the duck waves. Only feedback i have is I wish the duck had some more animations to give them life.

Developer

oh honestly I do too! I really didn't budget my time well, and had to cut a lot of the things I wanted to do right at the end.

the art in this is incredible , and I like the concept and unique approach to the focus , Also I have alot of things to say about your noises but lets not talk about any they're simply amazing thats what I'm gonna say.....also BREAD 5/5 for everything!

The sound effects were made at 5AM, that's all I'll say LOL

I really enjoyed your game too! I loved the sound and music you had for everything!

Fun game! loved the 'bake your own gun' concept, very original.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed! I thought your game was gorgeous!!

Amazing game! loved the graphics and the way you used the theme. I also loved to just see 'press space to eat gun'. only thing is the remixes of hot cross buns did get a little grating by the time i got to the pekin ducks.

Developer

haha fair enough! There's not a whole lot of musical material to work with in the original tune, so I should've added some breakdown sections without the melody.  The working title of the game funny enough was Eat Gun

good working title.

Very Good Game, 5 Start On The Fun Category

i didnt know there were duck flavored geese

the gameplay seems relaxed until you are faced with the mechanic of eating your gun to stay alive. then, at low health and without a weapon, the urgency of baking a new gun while evading the ducks kicks in. really cool interaction! i think it could be extended to more recipes to make things like powerups that reward players who manage to complete cooking tasks while evading and taking out enemies

Hilarious (and fun) concept! The mouse sensitivity was really high though and made it difficult to play

Developer

Glad you liked it! There's a slider to change sens under settings on the main menu!

That makes a lot of sense, I really should have looked harder!
