How does your game implement the focus, Multi-Use?
Planks of Wood are Multi-Use. Repair your deck and defend it from zombies, use planks of wood to do both. The heat is turned up because you set the the planks on fire when throwing them at the zombies (they also explode, damaging your deck)

I really really love this game., The idea is fantastic and the zombies being invisible underwater creates a really fun dynamic. Really cool idea and it was implemented really well!

This was quite possibly the most stressful yet most fun game I played for the jam.

I did notice a small bug and a small exploit. It seems zombies are immune when under water, which I thought was a really good idea; however, once I reached about wave 6 some zombies could be hit under water, some couldn't, it seemed random. It also seems that you can just stand in front of two of the jars (jars, vats?) and just hold RMB to keep rebuilding directly in front of you and keep shooting, makes it almost impossible to lose. When playing the game without using the exploit though, it is EXTREMELY fun, and a little overwhelming, but not enough to take it from the fun.

Really enjoyed the game, thank you for sharing!

The game loop is fun. Having to  protect against zombies while repairing the damage I caused. The pixel art is fits well.

The explosion effect seems very large, making it hard to see anything else. The audio cuts itself off, I found the results comedic, but it would probably get annoying after some time especially since there is no variation.

Cool idea and concept! I liked the idea of having to repair the planks after they break, maybe it could be expanded so that you could use planks also to build walls and turrets to improve your defenses.

I'd really appreciate if you played and rated my entry too ;)

I had a lot of fun here. The design of the loop was new and well thought out. I could imagine this being expanded in fun ways to exploiting some TD tropes etc. A really good game. Kudos

Nice game !

Strange, but I was unable to walk. Not WASD not arrows respond. Strange. Anyway, enjoyable shooting and interesting concept. Good idea that zombies immune when swim. Wished there be more elements to build or variation of enemies.

Developer

It is possible to destroy the tile/plank you are standing on, but you can rebuild the planks to regain movement. If that doesn't solve the issue then there might be a bug I am unaware of.

No, just tried it - not working for me (

All deck repaired, but player don't move.

Very fun! The zombies needing to be on the planks really added a lot of depth to the strategy of the game. Considering how frequently it happens, I think toning down the animation and sound effect for killing a zombie would really improve things.

haaaaaa

I found it funny—the sound when zombies pass through the end line.

I really liked the sounds.

I think the concept is the same as Plant vs. Zombie.

If it is, then you made it.

the controls are smooth and all but the game gets a bit overwhelming like at wave 5 I couldn't even place my tiles properly I was just surrounded constantly spamming the LMB I believe its a skill issue from my end , overall the game is good with cool art and amazing sfx and music (also I killed multiple zombies and it caused the zombie to play on loop for like a minute) a good rating from me :D

Interesting concept. It got tedious to repair every plank - a difference between shooting and placing (like placing multiple at once or something) could improve the flow.

Totally love the zombie-eats-brain sound xD

I think it's a nicely thought of concept, fun to play. It can be expanded a lot with more variety (more zombies, traps, etc.). Also I get that it's more an action game than a TD game, but I think it would be better to manage difficulty by having a kind of resource to buy planks and strategically place them, than being able to hold right mouse button and just repair planks everywhere instantly (even so, it's difficult because the incremental difficulty of waves is high, I only reached wave 7).

What I liked :

  • Solid Mechanic : The fact that an hit cost you a plank.
  • Readability
  • Simple but good UI

What could be improved :

  • Some polish  (waves, water particles, plank that lowers when something is on it, etc...)
  • Too much text introduction (It's nicer too introduce one rule, then test it, etc...)
  • Some zombie pattern variations
  • Zombie should kill you ?!

Hope it helps

This was a pretty fun top down shooter. A little variation in the zombie types could make the gameplay a lot more diverse, I realized I could just sit in front of the last jar and just hold right click to constantly place platforms while spam clicking the shots out. Other than that this was a fun game that kept me occupied for quite a while. Great submission!

Very solid entry! as others have said, the sound effects got a bit repetetive, the way I usually fix this is by randomly changing the pitch slightly every time.I would have liked a bit more time in between waves, as usually by the time I killed the last zombie, the next round had just started meaning I had no time to rebuild.

I like the overall game design, an action-oriented Plants Versus Zombies style tower defense. It's fast paced and is a lot of fun.

Having just the two sound effects is a bit repetitive, especially without any music. Something to consider is to have a couple of similar sound effects that that get chosen at random instead of the same one every time.

The wave system is a good start but it's hard to rebuild as the wave is still going while that timer is running.  Consider either making the rebuild timer longer to account for that or starting the timer as soon as the last zombie is offscreen.

This is a solid game with a lot of potential for growth, good job.

Smooth controls, frenetic action.

Some of the assets clash with each other. The disparity between the player character and the zombies is particularly noticeable.

More variety of enemies would have been welcome. Some pickups would also have made the game more interesting.

In terms of audio, the zombie screams get a bit annoying after a while. I love the sound of devouring the brains out of their jars, though.

Creative idea of the way the deck works is unique with zombies being invincible when they are not overlapping it.  One thing I did notice was if you held down rmb and spammed lmb it was pretty op. Overall well done. :D

This is super fun! (And I like the kinda pun with the name there, lol). The sound that plays when you kill a zombie is crazy annoying though, and I wish it gave you a little bit more time to rebuild between waves. Overall though, I really like this!

Really unique idea!

Nice game, I like how it gets harder the longer you play due to the damage the deck has sustained
