Pretty much perfect entry, didn't expect a scifi game with those sprites at all and as so many others states, the atmosphere is great. The voices are really adding to the game as well and I liked the adventure game nature of collecting items in different rooms to progress. Controls felt great too, only thing I would improve would be to make the contact area that lets you pick up items a bit larger.

Developer

Hey thanks man! I'll keep that little improvement in mind for a post-jam patch ^_^

Hoi great game my guy!

This is nearly a "perfect made" jam game, if not for some minor bugs, like the wall collision thing, which is super minor.

I made a dumb mistake where i forgot to pick up the blue torch and done 80% of the game without it ahah. Map was dark half the time but that's pretty much my fault lol.

Overall great polishing and use of the art kit!

Great work my guy

Developer(+1)

Thanks man! That's honestly a massive compliment ^_^ Really glad you enjoyed it!

I encountered some minor issues with getting off the map in the storage room, where I could just jump back in though, so it was no big deal. But two times I got completely cornered by spiders when I was in between doors, and they blocked both exits. This is especially an issue when you leave a hallway, get into a room, a spider gets towards you so you turn back only to see another spider blocking the hallway now and you're stuck. Other than that I don't have anything to complain about, very impressive!

Developer

Thanks man! I am aware of the current collision issues, sadly it is an issue with my custom character controller >.> Didn't manage to iron out the last bug before time, so I'm waiting for the jam to be over before I patch it out fully, to stay with the 48 hour spirit! Right now if you get cornered you can hang back far enough in the airlock so one of the doors will close, that way the spider opposite of it will lose interest and eventually leave, but you are entirely right, could use a bit of work, maybe a check on so they don't go to rooms adjacent each other, or a simple fix by just making both the airlock doors close if you're in the center of the airlock. I'll give it some thought so I can do something about it after the jam. Thanks for the huge compliment saying this is pretty much a perfect entry! This being my first game jam that seriously makes my day ^_^

Congratulations on joining your first jam! I had my first one last month and this is now my third. By the way my game for this one is also a first-person maze runner, would appreciate some feedback if you find the time.

Developer

Sure thing, I'll have a look!

Great atmosphere, loved it. Did you make normal maps for the surfaces or did you paint it manually to look like it was lit? Great job!

Developer

Did normal maps by hand, if you're interested check out the devlog ;) It's on the game's page. Took some work, but I honestly think it's worth it for the extra depth, especially considering I had to do everything out of primitive shapes due to my lack of knowledge on any free 3d modelling software and my old 3dsMax license no longer being valid >.> Hope that answers the question! And thanks for the compliment on the game :D

I like the atmosphere of the game. Good job what you have made out of the art kit. Well done! :)

Thanks man, glad you like it! ^_^

For those in the comments who haven't checked the games page, but might want to know how this little game was made:

Really good game, there is a bug if you get really close to a wall and change direction you will go outside the building. It gives a fear atmosphere all over!

Developer(+1)

I'm aware of the bug, sadly I ran out of time before being able to fix it during the jam. It's planned to be fixed after the jam is over. I'm glad you enjoyed the atmosphere and the game! ^_^

The game looks great. Spiders either kill me from behind while I'm listening to dialog or they block the only way forward.

Developer (1 edit)

In case you're having trouble; the spiders hiss when they see you so that can tip you off. Don't stand underneath vents since that is where they come from! If they are in the way forward the best thing to do is back up to an airlock or previous room, make sure they can't see you and wait them out. I hope it'll help!

Thanks for the tip! I'll revisit and try to beat it.

Cool stuff man!

Thanks!

This plays out like a cheesy 80's horror film and I love it.

Developer(+1)

Super glad you do :D

That was great! I loved the voice acting bits a lot! Also spiders were the perfect scare for me XD

Developer(+1)

Thanks man! Means the world to me to be getting such positive feedback from everyone!

Submitted(+1)

Loved it. The story telling in such a small game was delightful.

Developer

Thank you! ^_^

I won't be able to sleep anymore after seeing these spiders.

Love your game!

Great stuff!

Interesting game but I couldn't get too far. Literally every time I played I some how ended up outside and couldn't figure out how to get back inside. I'm not sure if that was  part of the game or not. Great use of the graphics package!

Developer

Sadly this was a bug I did not manage to fix before the time limit. I'm planning to fix it after the jam is over. The game page has a little more info about it. Thank you for playing!

Full marks for "balistaphobic"

Mood is perfect and the voice acting made it. Has real Alien: Isolation vibes

Would pay for a full game

Developer(+1)

Haha thanks man, had to actually find out if there was a real word for 'a fear of bullets' when I wrote that line :D
One day I might revisit the concept of this game for a full project, but it would have to be much more polished than this haha. Definetly nice to know people would be interested! ^^

Very impressive!

The lighting and sound are perfect for the terrifying atmosphere along with well-designed map.

Also the texture are amazing and I'm impressed when I finally realized these are made of that one sheet of sprite.

Definitely one of my favorites during this jam, pretty sick

Thanks man! Getting such positive feedback from everyone is really making my day ^_^
