Did you work in a team?
No I am a solo. But I had a great time. Just tired right now ;D

Was the resolution a challenge?
I desided to go to a 16x16 resolution. After my first playtest I relaized that no one, could read the environment perspektive. I had do done a lot, to fix it.. Not even sure if it is fixed now

What did you learn?
There are 3 main things:
Context helps players to understand the art
Build more Tools (better level editor etc.)
Sound gives a lot

Perfect, top 5 game. A masterclass in both the use of color and how to design audio. It helps that the narrator's voice sounds genetically engineered to tell tales of adventure. For my submission, I considered using voice to help enrich the world, but I didn't have the courage to pull it off. I think you have inspired me to do so next time.

It's too bad you're making a game every month, because I wish this game just went on forever.

Developer

thx for the feedback. I will only make a game each month until the end of the year. After this I want to develop a bigger one. I am considering to further develop this one.

I'll keep checking back to see what game you've made next! Also, is that your voice? If so, you could make a living doing voice work.

Developer

sadly it's not mine. It's from someone I worked with in the past. And he already is earning some money by doing voice over besides his main profession

Amaaaaaazing! for me the first 5 star game and probably the last. Wonderful atmosphere and beautiful sounds and music, kept me engaged the entire playthrough.

Honestly, I can't wait till you make a bigger game out of this and definitely will follow your releases.

For some constructive feedback I'd recommend to make a cleaner look (less shading). But the most important thing is to make more of this game. I love the puzzles simple but with the sfx and that voice which is perfect fit btw,  make for an amazing entry. If you'd expand I would recommend to inspire yourself for puzzle ideas from Zelda games because they are very easy to show in such restrictions.

Quick question: Did you record all the sfx yourself ?

Developer

wow, nice to hear that it hooked you! I didn't done any of the sfx, by my one. The most are from the unity asset store. I am thinking about develop it further, but not very soon. First of all I am going to participate to the unexpected game jam.

I totally got the point about the less shaded look. I will try to make it less noise

Thx for feedback

I was shockingly invested in the game, and I was surprised by how wreadable the 16x16 was. Good Job!

There were some pretty clever ideas here. I personally would have preferred a cleaner, less shaded look, but for what it's going for it's pretty clever.

I wasn't sold on the style in the first couple of screens, but as soon as the combat started and more audio came in, you sold me quickly. It is amazing how much the audio can carry the graphics in this game. It plays surprisingly well (people have to play it to understand, I think).  It would be hard to convey what this game is without having them play it. This was a blast to play, all around. The puzzles are interesting, and the combat is about as good as I could imagine for the player and enemies being single pixels. The end, I found to be a little easy, but that doesn't take away from the experience. Excellent work here!

Superrrr clever here :D

I was toying with the idea of doing a roguelike with every entity being 1 px…. but you have pulled it of so much better than I would have by a looooong shot.

Glad I got to play it :D

This was a fascinating use of the space given. Good job!

Developer

I am really hyped about the positive response from you! Thx

Magical, already one of my reference for this jam.
Usually I try to give some advice with the little knowledge that I have, but I'm speechless here.
Great experience, less pixels than most of the other games but can tell a lot. Every detail immerse us in the story as well as making the imagination working.
Wonderful game.

This was great! I thought the environment was impressively readable given the resolution, it was very clear to me when there was water vs. when it was drained, and how the brown squares represented steps to enter or exit the empty pools. The little touches like the subtle lighting and the visual effects of the water really went a long way in creating an interesting atmosphere. Great puzzles, too. Awesome job!

Great use of voice and audio to create that atmosphere. For someone with a vivid imagination that is completely enough. Simple squares became musty dungeons or creepy monsters and even a single pixel started oozing with life, really felt like a true adventure. Also, some solid puzzling and a worthy final encounter.  Excellent stuff!

Nice job! I think your room design and the general aesthetic was really good given the constraints. And the VO work was top notch! The snarly boss was my favorite.

Lots of atmosphere in a small package.

Gorgeous usage of pixels animations and music, a piece of truly fine art
