I definitely enjoyed this, but I feel like the developer hated me and wanted me to suffer.
Most of it wasnt too bad, but the last section of the first area is just  awful.
A large part of the issue is just the fact that it's RNG, so sections like that don't really work since you're relying on getting RNG that will let you actually beat it, another issue with that part is there's no way to see what youre even supposed to do and where to go.
I think this game shines most with shorter sections where you're trying to chaotically complete sections by reacting on the fly. I think for longer sections some more work would need to be done to make it more fair.
Also I think the controls are kinda wonk, it's fine when you get used to it I suppose but I wanted to press space to jump. I think the main issue is that since one of the abilities is essentially jump, having the actual jump button right next to it is a bit confusing.

Anyway, other than that stuff, probably would've liked to see more different powers since the pool is quite limited, but I imagine it would only get even more ridiculous to manage at that point.
Nice jam

Thanks for the feedback!

Difficulty is really hard to get right as the only person making a game without play testing, but I probably could have paid more attention when making the levels and pulled back the difficulty a bit.

There are a ton of inherent obstacles with my idea for this game, and I don’t think I properly designed around those issues. If I make something similar or iterate to on it in the future, I’ll probably rework the system quite a bit.

The controls thing is mostly because pico8’s default buttons are z and x (likely because a ton of pc games use those).

Clever title, I though it meant Pos X (jump height) is random :P
Enjoyed trying out the random power ups, but failed multiple times.
A short but fun platformer, congrats on finishing the jam !

Loved the art and sounds, gameplay was very nice and creative (a platformer without a controllable jump was definitely interesting xD) However, I often found myself just spamming x hoping to get a good ability, instead of thinking how to use my current one. also, it was quite challenging at parts

Still, greatly enjoyed it, good job!

Thanks!

Though, there is a jump button (the z key) though it’s existence may have been overshadowed by the function of the x button in the intro.

And yeah, the random shuffling of abilities isn’t perfect, though I think that’s mostly an inherent flaw with making movement random in a precision platforms.

oh woops, I completely missed that!

This project is challenging but felt super rewarding when reaching to the checkpoints. Great take on the theme and the player feedback felt great!

The game's super tough, but I like that each platforming challenge feels like it's possible with any combination of abilities. With some practice and quick thinking, this feels like it would be a fun game to speedrun : )

This is amazing!! I'm very bad but it was super fun to play and felt amazing. Love the use of pico8, i have been meaning to learn it for ages now.

Impeccable level design - very light, fun, and bouncy. I might have ordered the levels differently - found the first level much harder than the second - but the puzzle portion of the second level really made this special.

I really like this game! The concept is great and executed well. I think there could be some minor tweaks to the physics/controls (you accelerate quickly to a bit too high of a top speed imo, the fall speed could be a bit slower). The cooldown to see your next ability is also a tad too long. Overall though, the game is very fun!

It amazing to see another game sharing the same concept with mine haha! Although I know level design is the most challenging part (I had a hard time in this also), you should make the game less RNG-dependent. Dying to bad RNG takes out the fun, which happens when certain area cannot be passed with all the X powers (like getting the rope but you are already past the ring). I do like the art style and sound effects. Great job!

Cool game, just a bit difficult

Fantastic the pixel art and music. Love the use of theme but maybe a bit too tied to random especially when there is only one right answer to pass some areas. I would love to see this expanded and further developed. Maybe less random and some new abilities and enemies. Great job.

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

Yeah, randomness can be annoying some times, although I’m pretty sure every part can be passed with any combination of abilities, even if it’s harder with with some in certain situations.

Loved the concept. Felt pretty good to play

Super cool design, and i generally like the concept.

But maybe a normal jump button would help alot, so you can use your rolls as help, not as the only way to move around :)

Developer

Thanks!

There actually is a jump button (the z key) but its existence was likely overshadowed in the intro by the function of the x button.

So, ironically, I forgot to put in a running animation, which I was going to do right at the start, but ended up making the map-reading/entity system instead.

Then I was going to do it at the end, but I forgot...

And I did check out your game! :)

love the graphics and audio!

the gameplay could use a bit of work. i think it would work a lot better if you designed each section around a specific sequence of dice rolls and then guaranteed those dice rolls every time. as it is, it feels very random (i guess thats the point).

i am definetly not good enough at platformers to beat this.

The control of the game is truly unique. I love it:)

Nice job!

Hah- really great take on the theme :)

Presentation was ace, and although I died all the time, the check points and quick restart made it forgiving enough to stay fun :D

Submitted

Wonderfully presented but perhaps a little tricky to control - I died a lot but did make it to the end!

Submitted

Way too difficult for me, but I love the idea and aesthetic! I especially dig the jumping particles

I can see the idea with randomness here. Too bad the difficulty ramps up too steep after couple checkpoints.
