Neat little game, and very cute. The idea is also really clever, and super wholesome.

I do wish it was easier to figure out what order to do things in, but I am admittedly not a very patient gamer, so I’m sure if I had taken my time and talked to everyone, I could have done better. It wasn’t super obvious what all items could do, but I see that you included a cheat-sheet on the game page, and I suspect if you had more time, would have included something like that in the game. Possibly also a reset button of some sort would be useful, since it is pretty easy to get in a state where you can’t advance (for example I gave away my shovel first so could never go up from the right screen).

Cool game! Well polished, and the concept is pretty cool. A map overview to help me better plan my route of who to give my items to first would've helped, but maybe the point was for me to explore and learn.

This was great! Kind of a reverse metroidvania puzzle in a way, very unique concept. Took me ~6 tries to get it down. I thought this would be impossible at first but I think the scope really helped! Since there weren't too many items to give out, after trying a few times you get the gist of who needs what where. A really engaging game, looks great, and very creative! Great job.

Very glad you were able to finish it. Do you mind me asking how long it took for you to complete?

It took me ~30 minutes?

Really nice game, love the zelda style but with a twist :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and providing feedback, it’s much appreciated!

great complete game!

love the idea of being the item giver! and it was quite enjoyable to try and figure out the web of needs and unblocking items to give them to the right people.

sprites and sound work well as well!

great work.

This was great! Love that the whole world is the puzzle, and there's a lot of character to the NPCs, my favourites being the pot man and of course the skeletons :)

Developer(+1)

I’m glad you found the skeletons enjoyable, they were a last minute addition!

This was awesome and I could totally see it as a part of a larger game. It felt like a bunch of little puzzles inside a larger puzzle. Great job!

Wow, really cute concept. Took me awhile to figure out what was going on (my fault for not reading the game page), but it's a really interesting take on a puzzle game where the entire world is the puzzle. I liked a lot of the dialogue too, the pot smashing reminded me a lot of Wind Waker lol. Great job. Your retrospective was a good read too, thanks for sharing it.

I'd appreciate it if you check out my game too if you have a minute!

That was very cute. Really enjoyed all the NPC’s personalities and the reasons they wanted my hard earned items :P

Nice visuals, and a lot of content for a jam entry. Also, kudos for making your engine!

This is fantastically done for a Jam game, and props for using a custom engine to accomplish it! I love the attention to detail and the character the npcs bring, including the skeletons. I agree with what you said in your devlog about the jam concept being difficult because of some recent game trends, but I actually think it was a great choice, because it got some people to think outside the box and come up with really unique takes like this one.

Developer

Thank you! I was mostly just grumpy that I didn't have any idea what I was doing for the first few hours. Some sort of idea usually springs to mind pretty quickly. But you're totally right, getting to see all these outside the box games means it was a very good theme.

I had a nice time. So cool that this is your own engine! I'm working on a JS engine, too. I also struggled to find an idea for this theme. Geesh! At least not every game has dice in it. hahaha

Developer

Thanks for reading my blog post!

Fun "little" game. Nice to see all those items dont go to waste. I would love to go to a garage sale in a game world. buy up old swords, and magical amulets.

Submitted

Great job! Very interesting concept!

This is such a clever idea! Such an interesting way to present a narrative and done through gameplay!

This is a clever take on the theme and looks great too! Nice work!

nice twist! In our brainstorm, I was thinking about a game where some rich guy put loots in chests :D. I find your post game give away justification of who has loots to spare clever and perfect... Now I'm thinking about a game were you raise an army using all the crappy leather armors and daggers you've found. hehe. Good work!

amazing pixel art!

Developer

I'm glad you liked it, but it's not mine! The majority of the art can be purchased via this asset pack: https://danieldiggle.itch.io/sunnyside

I loved this one, it was such a clever puzzle! Top marks for creativity as well - giving back the items after being post-game with full money/hearts and items was a great idea.

It also has a super strong Zelda feel that you nailed. This is a gem, great job!

Developer

Thank you, I took heavy inspiration from The Legend of Zelda Oracle of Ages/Seasons. If I had more time, I'd like to have included a few more items like the switch hook, and maybe flippers.

This is a really fun game! I like the inspiration from Zelda-type games, and giving away all my items is refreshing. (Link is always such a hoarder...) Breaking pots is as fun as ever, but I've never been called out for it before. Great art and animation, too.

Developer

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed smashing his hard earned collection!
