How does your game fit the theme?
In this platformer, you play as the platform, incorporating the theme "roles reversed" by swapping the classic designations of player and platform. Enjoy!

What a fun idea. I really liked the levels with multiple platforms to control.

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Very smooth animations!

My brain can't see this as "moving the platforms", but as a platformer where I control the cubes but with inverted controls.

In the later levels the concept really works though, it becomes a cool puzzle instead of just platforming.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! My design "philosophy" (if you can call it that for a jam game) changed as I was making the levels, and I'm glad that you liked the more puzzle game aspects of it near the end. Thanks for playing!

Submitted

Rereading it my comment came off as more negative than I intended. It's a great game, the only problem was that it just messed with my head because it's so unlike regular plaformers

Submitted

What an interesting concept! A quick good time. I would only work a bit on the order of the levels - Level 5 was far harder than the following ones! :) (at least for me :D)

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! A lot of people seem to have had trouble with Level 5, so I'll try to smooth out the difficulty curve post-jam. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Interesting concept. Salute to your dedication!

Developer

Thanks!

the gameplay is fun, I liked the progression of the game, very gradual, easier to learn intuitively.

This is very well polished and pretty fun and interesting, level 9 took a bit of trial and error, but I eventually got a clear goal down and beat the game! Good work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I played this as if I was playing as the tethers instead of the world, which just made my controls reversed :p

Level 9 was pretty mind bending, but really, this was not much different from a basic platformer all things considered

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I'll have to find a way to make it clearer that it's the platform moving.

Submitted

I think it's mostly a problem of the camera moving so much, if the camera and tethers were static, then it would be very clear that you are moving as the world

Wonderful game! Cool concept and excellent execution. It looks good, sounds good, and feels good. Very impressive

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed.

A very strong sense of presence for the game. It also got a bit brain bendy as it went on. Good going!

Developer

Thanks! My goal was to make a slightly brain-bendy game, and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it!

Submitted

This is really cool, it looks really simple but the once you start moving it becomes clear what the game is, and I enjoyed it

The game started off really easy and then at level 9 the difficulty has risen quite a bit, but overall the levels were fun but a bit easy

The problem with how you used this mechanic is that in most levels it seemed like the controls were just inverted and gameplay wise it didn't affect much of how I played, the only levels that the moving world was apparent is levels 8-9, with the multiple balls

I've seen other games with this idea and what they had in common is that they used the world to move enemies and game objects, which shows the world is actually moving a lot more then how you implemented that

Still it's a well designed game with good levels and a cool mechanic, so well done!

Developer

Thanks for all the feedback! I'll try to add more (and harder) levels after the jam. I found that it's really time-consuming to make good puzzle levels... Maybe I'll redesign all the levels to feature multiple tether points to reinforce the fact that the platform is indeed moving. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted

Sometimes I forget I'm not really playing as the player and move in the wrong driection.

Developer

Yeah, it's a little confusing sometimes, and I'll try to make it a little easier to tell who's really moving. In the meantime, think platform, be platform.

Submitted

Love the gameplay! Took a minute to recognize the indent's purpose, but afterwards it was really fun playing. Great puzzle game ^^

Developer

Thanks! I'll need to make the instructions a little clearer, but I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Wow, great game, great concept, great execution, 10 Levels!!! The only thing level 5 was abit to hard (for me) compared with the other levels. Nevertheless a fantastic job. btw.: is really addictive I could stop playing.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I'm planning on making the jumping a bit more lenient, which would make Level 5 a little easier. I'm glad you enjoyed!

Submitted

Hey really cool idea! Didn't ever actually think about playing as the level! I like the whole upbeat atmosphere of the game. And it feels really polished as well. I'm not a huge puzzle game person, but I was able to beat it with only level 9 being a bit challenging (or I mean 10 was super super challenging!!)

Don't really have much negative to say. For the first level I didn't really know what was going on as I just saw the thing sink in and I won, but after that it was pretty clear. I'd say maybe the only thing, and idk how you would fix this, but by level 9 it did feel a bit less like I was playing as the level, and more was just playing as the grey boxes with inverted controls. But again that's like me being super nitpicky!

Anyways well done with this! Very good work!!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I'll have to make the way to win be a bit more clear in the future. Making sure that it looked like the platform was moving was the hardest thing to accomplish well in this game. I tried to do what I could, but even I still think of it as inverted sometimes... I'm glad you enjoyed it! (Oh and Level 10 is the "I ran out of time" level. :P)

Submitted

this is brilliant! one of the more interesting takes on the theme that i've seen, and the levels only got better and better. by level nine my smile was all the way across my face, even when i died on my first attempt. you really have to flip your platforming mindset for this, and i loved all the little tricks i learned along the way. can't wait to see more of this!

Submitted

my one note now that i think about it, is a fullscreen option would be great in browser. i managed to fit the window on my screen, but the itch badge things overlap the side (pic included). not a huge deal, but it would be a nice option :)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks so much for your feedback! My goal was to make it stand out as a platformer... but different. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed!

I had to make the choice between fullscreen options using Unity's WebGL border (which looks really ugly) and actually implementing it in the code. I ran out of time to add it to the code, so I figured the downloadable version was enough for fullscreen. I'll definitely add it later, though!

It was really fun game.
This I Like:
- Nice concept

- You took a "basic idea" but made it a very unique result, i didn't see any game like this in the games i played.

- I could see a potential full game with this idea

Things to improve from my point of view:
- Sometimes you really need to create a lot of movement momentum before taking a jump or it is impossible to jump to the gaps.

- Faster animations after losing, i know when i make something i want everybody to see it, but is kinda frustrating when you lose a lot and wait for all that animations.

- People have 0 attention span, dont spam 3 logos before game even start

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I'll probably come back to this game after the jam and make some of those jumps a bit more lenient. I tried to keep the transition animations as quick as possible without looking abrupt, but I'll take your advice into consideration. I had to make do with the Unity default splash screen, but maybe I'll make the logos more integrated into the game, like on the title screen, in the future. I'm glad you enjoyed!

I couldn't beat the ninth level, but the game is very fun. It's a very interesting take on the idea I've seen around (you are the platform). My one problem is that for about 10 seconds at the beginning of the game, I was very confused on how to win. But other than that, it's a pretty good puzzle/platformer, good job.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I probably should make it a bit clearer what you have to do to win. I'm glad you enjoyed!

Submitted

Very creative! Definitely one of the better "you are the platform" entries I've played. Could have maybe used another puzzle mechanic, but I do respect only taking one puzzle concept and expanding it as much as possible with the time given. Really cool.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I might add more puzzle mechanics in the future, but I didn't want to plan too much for only 48 hours.

Submitted

Fair point, keeping a handle on scope is really important for game jams.

Submitted

took a few levels to rewire my brain, but was very fun once i got the control down

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed my little confusing game.

Funny how my mind is unable to cope with this until i pretend im controlling the set gray blocks.

Developer

That's what a role reversal will do! Thanks for playing.

Submitted

I really liked the game! The puzzles are very good. They aren't too hard but it still feels great when you get it right.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I didn't have time to add harder levels in the 48 hours, but I'll definitely add more levels later.
