Pretty cool game! I like it! Very pleasing and satisfying to play.

Just curious though, why does the score count down from 99 versus counting up? Does something happen if you get all the way to zero??

Hey so this is actually pretty cool! I really like the concept, just being able to watch your guys fight. Not sure if they are supposed to bounce off each other but I think that's kinda charming! I think it's pretty impressive what you pulled off during the jam. With this being expanded on and polished up a bit I bet something super great could be made from here! Also I thought handing the gladiator a bow was really funny because then they demolish everyone!! Completely unstoppable!!

As you mentioned there are bugs. A couple of the obvious ones I notice:

1. I was only able to give gladiators the bow. I could pick up the sword/bomb but couldn't hand it to the gladiators like I could the bow

2. After the restarting the level (both just from the menu and closing the game and coming back) I now spawn on the right side of the sword/bomb and not next to the button, and it didn't seem like I could hop over to the button to spawn more gladiators.

Overall though I think this is a solid base for something really good. I think you did a great job on the whole thing in the time you had. Too bad it didn't get uploaded in time as I think other people would have liked to try it, but there's always other jams (like I notice there's a Jam for updated Jam games here if you want to enter it here for some people to look at "https://itch.io/jam/post-jam-jam-7")

Anyways good luck with your future game deving!

NIce! Thanks for playing!! And lol my thought process was starting with the weak toggable skills on 7 and 8, since in theory I was thinking people would use 7 - 0 sparingly, but I wanted to keep 1 - 3 as the quick instant spells (as you unlock them) since they're easier to get to. Not sure if that makes sense in practice though lol....

Awesome!! Thanks for playing!!

Thanks for playing and glad you liked it! Ya I know the controls weren't ideal. I'll look into adding more options for them in the future. I'm glad that it all felt really good though with the effects and everything!! That was one of my main goals.

Thanks again for playing!!

Thanks for playing!!

Thanks!! Glad you enjoyed it and it felt good to you!!

Thanks for playing and glad you liked it!! Also happy that it gave you flash game vibes lol (I miss those days). And thanks for liking the voices as well. Sorry not all came out clear, they were one of those things that I recorded and threw into the game last second. And ya the controls aren't very good... though a mouse with numbers would be a great solution!! I'm going to try to give more options to use to select different spells.

Thanks again for playing and your feedback!

Thanks for playing and your feedback! Sorry about the voices not being clear, they were pretty much a last second addition that I rushed into the game. Some of them didn't quite come out as I hoped in the final version.

Fair criticisms on the controls, I know those are wacky. And ya essentially everything (besides the shield) are meant to damage so they could all feel samey, though on the flip side all damage spells are viable. Fair point though since the energy is a bit strict you can't use as many as you like so it feels less like you are all powerful. I may tweak this some more, at least towards the end game. Thanks also for mentioning the Bilinear filtering. The game looks fine downloaded but ya they came out blurry online. First time uploading a project to the web and I didn't have much time to look into before submission. I'll check out the Bilinear filtering to see if that may be the cause.

Thanks again for trying it out!!

Nice, glad it was intense!! Thanks for playing!

Thanks for playing and that you liked the game! Great to know that everything (besides the awkward controls) added to the charm of the game for you!

Thanks for playing and your feedback! And sorry about the controls, I know those weren't ideal. I'll be looking into tweaking them.

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! Glad you liked all the audio and lore and everything!

I agree the control turned out not great... and lol I know 7 and 8 are random, but my thought process was since those spells would just be toggled on and off that I would leave 1 - 6 as the more manual instant spells/summons. And true, I was aiming for slightly overpowered but also I did want the battles to be personal 1 v 1 against heroes versus the more typical survivor style where lots of enemies everywhere. But it is something I could take into consideration, especially maybe making the player stronger faster!

Thanks again for trying it out!!

Thanks for playing! Nice to see you around again too!

I agree that the controls really didn't end up as great as I hoped. That is a thought of having them closer to WASD. I'm thinking multiple options (like users can select through scroll wheel, 0 - 9, maybe popup circle-selector thing, etc...) My thought process for 7 - 0 at least was since they are togglable the player won't need to hit them as much, but didn't quite work out as planned.

Thanks for the feedback and again for playing!

Thanks for playing fellow boss theme comrade! Glad it felt good to play as well as that was one of my main goals, and lol I know the music adds a lot to the experience!!

Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed it! And ya in hindsight I don't think the "7" attack really worked as I had hoped. I think I may make it just free to use automatically (or any 7 - 0 free to use if the only one's active).  I know in general I do need to edit the controls and balance things a bit more.

Thanks for playing!! I agree, I'll try to think of other options for the controls since currently they are less than ideal. Maybe an action wheel...

Thanks for playing and thanks for the high praise! Really appreciate it! I do want to polish it up a little bit after the jam (I actually see there's a "Post Jam Jam" for updating games so that might encourage me to update it, especially the controls). Don't think I will make this specific game commercial, but I am considering something similar in style.

Thanks again!!

Nice! Thanks for playing and glad you liked my take on the "Be the Boss" genre fellow boss theme comrade!

Thanks glad you enjoyed it! And especially glad you liked the voices (didn't know how people would feel about them). Also thanks for pointing out the character walking animation. I know in a way it looks kind of cheap, but I also think it works and it definitely lets me focus on actually making the game.

And ya, the controls are definitely the biggest issue that I'll try to think about resolving. Perhaps having an additional scroll option and then clicking to select (since the mouse buttons aren't actually used at all).

Thanks again for playing and liking it!!

Very cool idea and take on the theme! I enjoyed the several battles, and it was interesting trying to figure out which attack would do what. I was slightly confused when the folders changed names, but I'm guessing that's to make you have to actually look at the items and figure out if they are relevant or not. I think my one complaint is it didn't feel like the player had a ton of control, kind of at the mercy of what the hero wanted.

I was able to beat the game my first try! Though it was close, I only had like 20hp left. I liked using Yolo. Overall really nice game and a great entry into the jam!!

Nice! Cool game and nice twist that it switches up and you play as the boss! I guess it is part of our "Be the Boss" mini-genre then!

Don't have much feedback. Some of the platforming may have felt a tiny bit clunky, but I think that's pretty expected for a jam game.

Overall excellent job! Great work done by the team!!

Hey really cool idea! I like the idea of trying to keep the teams balanced, and the idea of reversing between Chuck and the bandits really does the theme justice!

Unfortunately I think the game glitched out on me twice. First time after round three, only chuck was remaining but it wouldn't proceed to the next round. I restarted the game and tried again, but same thing this time at round two with two bandits left it wouldn't go to next round. Hopefully that can be fixed! The only other thing I was wishing for were particle effects, that would make this game look extra great!!

Overall though cool game! Great work on it!!

Ok that was actually really cool! I finished it in 125 turns. Very unique and a very real twist on the jam theme. I also I see you did EVERYTHING your self including the sounds, super impressive. This honestly with a little more polish and content could turn into probably a good roguelite or something.

One big issue I had though was just learning the game. I read your description before hand, but when actually playing the first battle I was so confused. I think at one point I killed the princess as the goblin and I think it gave me a game over (I might be mistaken on that though) but from that I was so confused, and tried for another 3 - 5 minutes trying to figure out how to win against the goblin or at least proceed. Maybe I'm just tired, but I think an in game tutorial or a really obvious enemy (like one of those orges that have a ton of hp) may have helped cement the idea of what to do. I almost quit at that point and then checked the comments here... but no one else seemed to have that issue so it could have just all been me.

But once I figured that out it was great and I ended up beating it! Again the above may have just been me being dumb, but other than that I thought the game was really great and cleverly thought out (not to easy or hard). This is a great entry into the jam! Great work on this!!

Wow a crazy good idea!! Very good take on the theme! I like how it was implemented, and the random voices from grampa as well as the phrases that would come up are great!

One issue I did have though is it seems sometimes after missing the first key, for whatever reason all keys after that would fail, even if they were the right key (though now that I'm typing this and thinking about it... was I supposed to have him hit a backspace key??) I did find this pretty annoying as it happened on the last phrase a couple times meaning I had to repeat the previous phrases again. If the backspace key was supposed to be hit then maybe showing that highlighted on the keyboard or as a prompt somewhere would help, though honestly I don't know if I'd still like trying to use backspace as that would add extra complexity. I think just hitting the right key again would be more efficient.

Other than the above though I thought this was an extremely good concept that you all made look professional! Very well done to you and your team!!

Oh man this is fantastic!! A great addition to our mini "be the boss" genre. The story is executed fantastically with a nice twist at the end. And just the idea that you're brand new and don't know what to do on the boss ship adds to the experience since... as a player you don't right away know what to do!

Two minor issues I do have. 1. The html/web version didn't let me full screen so the initial play box only showed like a quarter of the game. I ended up having to download it to see everything. 2. I do like the idea that you don't know what to do as a player so you have to try things out, but I think maybe it was a little broad, and maybe giving the player a hint like "certain A-Z keys control the ships weapons" or something may help at least narrow things down. As far as I'm aware only QWE and IOP keys are used?

Honestly thought this was excellent. Extremely good work on this! I enjoyed it quite a bit!!

Hey cool game! I like the theme and it has a charming design. Also was really digging the music there! Lol I don't think I was very good though, second playthrough I survived for about 60 seconds and had 21 coins.

Not much feedback to give, other than the bombs were a little annoying, but maybe that's the point! Maybe a little extra variety in enemies might be nice.

Overall well done on this! Great work!!

Lol wow great idea! I think this is my favorite take on the reverse snake genre because its more like a horror game! Audio was fantastic, from the eggs singing to the snak eating some snacks, all great. Nice to see a 3D version.

Only complaint is the mouse sensitivity seems really high. Like the first time the game started I thought it was a cutscene of my egg being scared! But it was really just slight movements of my mouse lol.

Overall though really cool game! Great work on this!!

Cool game! I really like the concept. Also the presentation for the game is fantastic! Great visuals and music. I believe I ended with a score of about ~132.

Not much feedback to give. Maybe if there could be a little more variety as it did turn into either one stationary frog or two hopping frogs for the whole ride.

Anyways great work on this!

Well this is quite the challenging game! Very cool concept though and it looks great. I also enjoy the music as well. I can definitely see this being developed into an awesome experience.

The game may be just a tad too difficult though... right off the bat you can die in like half a second. And like everything kills you! Touching the edge of the room, touching the edge of the tank (or is that  a mage?) blast, touching those holes...etc. Combine that with the rotation mechanic, which is really cool! But the rotation doesn't seem consistent. Sometimes 90 degrees, sometimes 45, sometimes 30, etc... that makes it extra difficult to play. I think the best way as a quick fix for this jam (if things like rotation are difficult to fix) would be just to make the levels vastly simpler. Like first level literally has no enemies, second level has maybe a couple holes, third level has one enemy but very open space to avoid, etc... that would let the player easily adjust versus now it seems to just throw you to the fire! That, or maybe a health system would help as well. I did at least make it to the second level.

Anyways hopefully the feedback above isn't too harsh! I think the game is a fantastic idea and you have most of it there! It just needs a little tweaking with something to make it more player-friendly, at least in the beginning. Good job though!!

Hey cool game! I really like the idea of giving people quests. The even better touch is that you have to sneak into the back room to "respawn" the pigs, so really you are creating the quest problem in the first place!! Also funny having us walk around on the rug just like an npc. I ended with 36500 points.

I think some basic audio would make this game feel a bit more lively. It did feel a little solitary.

Overall though pretty cool! Good work on this!

Lol very nice game! Great take on the theme and I really like the initial story at the beginning. I read about about the flower glitch before starting so I was aware of that. Too bad it wasn't in this build, otherwise I would have probably won! Pretty cool to have your spell become a giant bomb in the end.

Probably personal preference, but I would have enjoyed this a little more as an action game versus turn-based. I noticed later the turns got longer since had to wait for ALL the other enemies to move. Not that bad, just a little annoying. Also sometimes I saw grandmas/cats stuck in the rock and couldn't get to them.

Overall really cool and great take on the theme! Good work!!

Hey really cool game you got here! Feels pretty polished and fun to play. Good take on the theme as well.

I was slightly confused on the dark's attack since he wasn't shooting, but I take it he just melee's them. Maybe I missed it but might help if there's was little more tell to what he was doing. Also maybe I didn't make it far enough (2400 second time), but powerups might also spice up the gameplay.

Still though very cool and a great addition to the jam!!

Hey this is actually really unique and cool! Definitely an interesting take on the theme. I also liked you had a tutorial video on how to play (otherwise I may have been a bit lost). I'll be honest... while watching the tutorial I felt like this might feel more like "work" than an actual game, but turns out it is actually pretty engaging. Also really like how the music increases the farther along you go, adds to the pressure! I ended up with a score of just about 6000 before getting fired.

I think for the amount of time you had for game jam the UI is acceptable, though it did feel a little clunky when going back and forth between the categories. Also the locations that you didn't use piling up made it slightly messy. At least there's a trash can for those though.

Overall though I think something like this has potential as a full game, there could be a career mode where you each day you have to do this, then you make money/buy upgrades/deal with more difficult problems. I think that could be really fun! Anyways really good work on this!!

Hey cool game! Played it on gx. I really like the idea of these reverse survival like games. Nice way to balance with units also giving the hero benefits. I won the first time with just lots of bees, pigs, and big goblins. I did find it amusing that the Golbin Archers didn't actually shoot but just chased the player lol.

Second play it was a little more of a slog since I picked big minions and it took a while for them to come out, but the hero was able to wipe them out pretty easily anyway. Also with them not coming out as quickly made the rounds go much longer and it seemed the hero was able to heal throughout the round? Also minor, but the menu music seemed a little jarring to me. The game music was good though!!

Overall though really cool game and I could see an expanded more balanced version being even more fun to play! Great work!!

Lol really cool! Not what I expected when launching the game, but very amusing nonetheless! Cool visual novel type game while a chess game is going on. I did win on my first try!

Don't really have any feedback other than after I won I couldn't easily restart, had to close/open the game again. Also is there only one main ending?

Overall really cool and well done!!

Hey really awesome! I love games where you can summon minions to fight for you (a bit like my game jam entry also about fighting the hero!). This was really well done. I liked that there was a good variety of ally units to summon. Everything fit together really well! I won on my 3rd or 4th round, still didn't have enough to summon the Demon King though.

My one complaint is that the spike traps look a lot like a wall. When focusing on avoiding the hero or summoning units its really easy to forget about those traps, and with only 3 hearts and I believe no way to heal, it did make a couple playthroughs a bit annoying when I realized I only had 1 heart left.

Otherwise though really cool game and take on the reverse survivors genre!! Great work!!

Lol really cool! I love the idea and it was pretty amusing. I especially loved the first two scenes! I do think it ended slightly abruptly, I thought there'd at least be some mini-game fighting a hero. Also some of the mini-games felt maybe a little long, especially when they are relatively basic. Still though great idea! I got 1216 points (hopefully that's not terrible lol)

Good work on this!

Hey pretty cool! I like the idea quite a bit, especially since you are both buying and selling the items at your shop. One thing that did seem slightly annoying was it seemed a lot of the time I would get like 5 people in a row trying to sell me something when I had no money, and other times when I had a little money but no good ingredients. Not a big deal though since you can just "no" people and I don't think there was a punishment for that. I also like the idea that you test you weapons first!

Overall really cool and well done! Good work!

Hey cool take on a reverse-survival type game! It was fun sending swarms of enemies against the hero. One time I only upgraded and used the little guys and had so many I had super lag!! The game is pretty hard though. I finally won the third time by only using the ranged guys and an occasionally little guy to distract the hero.

Overall really cool! Good job with this!!
