Great game! seen a lot of "you play as the computer" theme takes but this is definitely one of the more creative ones!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Very cool idea and take on the theme! I enjoyed the several battles, and it was interesting trying to figure out which attack would do what. I was slightly confused when the folders changed names, but I'm guessing that's to make you have to actually look at the items and figure out if they are relevant or not. I think my one complaint is it didn't feel like the player had a ton of control, kind of at the mercy of what the hero wanted.

I was able to beat the game my first try! Though it was close, I only had like 20hp left. I liked using Yolo. Overall really nice game and a great entry into the jam!!

Developer

Nice! Good job. Yolo has been a favorite amongst people for sure. Thanks for playing!

The theming of you being the game manager is very cute. As others have mentioned, having a way of noting down what each file actually does in game would be really nice. Having to restart from the very beginning of the game is a tad bit painful, but the fights are faster once you know the names so it's not too big of a deal. A very clever and fun game! I'll be thinking about it the next time I give a file/variable a bad/generic name lol.

Developer

Very fair for sure. Thanks for playing!

Really fun and creative project! I genuinely love the idea for it.  It feels very polished for 48 hours. The UI is great, doesn't add additional diffculty to managing the game. My only caveats are not actual caveats, because the attack names are meant to be confusing :d Was a bit frustrating though when I lost to the boss because I couldn't find the right attacks. Was fun to play nevertheless. Great job on this entry!

Developer

Thanks for checking it out! And understandable on the caveats. Not for everyone, lol

This was really interesting and a laugh as we have all been there with badly named assets etc. It would be nice if maybe after each round we could rename a file or add a note to it etc because as a player remembering what each one did could be a pain after a while but still enjoyable.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it! That's a really cool feature too! Trying to fix things as you go. Nice progression idea.

Fun and creative game. Check out our game too!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'll be sure to check it out after I'm done work.

This game caused flashbacks to programming... what was that variable called.. must be new or new_latest, or new_latest_final ?!?! Who wrote this code.. oops, it was me! haha! Good job on making a fun game with a fun twist on the genre! :D

Developer(+1)

We seem to be giving many people flashbacks, haha. Thanks for playing and happy you had fun!

Nice idea but I don't see how anyone is supposed to know the right answer in advance. Is it more of a memory game where I need to test every option to know what the function does?

Developer(+1)

It's definitely more of a memory game, something we have realized that should have been more directly stated in the tutorial. There are a degree of context clues in the file names, but without actually trying them you won't know for sure.

Great entry!

Love the take on the theme, it feels very personal ;)

Fun game and cool presentation, definitely worth fleshing out!

Developer

Thanks! Glad to hear you enjoyed it.

I beat it! That was just the right amount of challenge. Those file names cracked me up. You definitely played to your audience.

Developer(+1)

Haha, thanks! This was all built from the pain of living these types of experiences, lol

Submitted

That made me laugh out loud. Thankfully, I haven't looked at too many other folks' code but I imagine it's all like this.

Developer(+1)

I'm told they don't hand out degrees unless you use "yolo" in a variable name at some point.

Wow, really cool concept. I really like the art and music for this, and the overall UI feels great. The puzzle element is pretty neat. Almost feels like this could be a roguelike of some sort where you acquire new abilities as you go, though the puzzle-y nature of it now is also great. Gem of a game.

Developer

Ooooh. That's actually a really neat direction. Making it a roguelike. Glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted

Wow! that's awesome! I never thought of creating a game from this perspective before.

Developer

Thanks! It was fun trying to think from this perspective for the game.

Submitted

Great concept! The final file names made me laugh and were surprisingly useable. Would love to see this concept taken further!

Developer

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed that last set!

Submitted

WOW!, outstanding, All was outstanding, please keep this up even after the game jam!

Developer

Thank you!

This is outstanding. Made in 48h is mind shattering! Great job!

Developer(+1)

Aw, thanks! We really appreciate that!

Submitted

haha interesting . I initially thought manager as in a person managing the game, but it was the file manager and program itself!

What a unique idea haha well done.

Developer

Thanks!

Submitted

Wow, you play as... the Game Manager??? 👁️👁️

I really didn't see that coming! Looks like this Jam is still full of surprises! 😂

Absolutely great concept! Executed perfectly! Well done sir! 👏

Developer

Thanks for the high praises!

Submitted

Really cool idea well done! I like that the files got more confusing as you progress :)

Developer(+1)

Yeah! It was fun figuring out how to do that. Our designer had really good ideas with that.

Submitted

Good job !

I love the nice little gotchas like the 'not implemented' files ^^.

Developer

Glad to hear it! They were tough to balance.

Particularly love the filenames, reminds me of the Scripts folder in my unity project. Great concept  and game on the whole.

Developer

Thanks. Happy you liked it!
