Oh man this is fantastic!! A great addition to our mini "be the boss" genre. The story is executed fantastically with a nice twist at the end. And just the idea that you're brand new and don't know what to do on the boss ship adds to the experience since... as a player you don't right away know what to do!
Two minor issues I do have. 1. The html/web version didn't let me full screen so the initial play box only showed like a quarter of the game. I ended up having to download it to see everything. 2. I do like the idea that you don't know what to do as a player so you have to try things out, but I think maybe it was a little broad, and maybe giving the player a hint like "certain A-Z keys control the ships weapons" or something may help at least narrow things down. As far as I'm aware only QWE and IOP keys are used?
Honestly thought this was excellent. Extremely good work on this! I enjoyed it quite a bit!!
ZXC and BNM also do something. :) The idea was to make basically the whole keyboard do *something* to make experimenting more interesting, but you know how jams go. We also wanted a UI showing how many of the features had been discovered. So that's all for V2! Fixing the build, too.
Thanks for playing and for the thoughtful feedback!
I would add a button to allow fast text! great job on the submission!
Holy hell I loved this (especially the title), it had so much character! The concept of not knowing the controls is something simple yet well executed. I don't know if there were any weapons apart from the cannons. If you wanted to expand on it, you could have an actual control panel on screen where you press buttons trying to figure out what does what.
Love this idea! I'm a huge fan of experimenting with controls and having the player have to guess the controls is perfect for the theme and tone of this game. Also a big fan of the expressive character sprites. Well done!
This game was epic. The idea is fun. I wish there were more weapons to user. Overall great game.
COOLEST IDEA. also I played it together with a friend on single keyboard which was cool! player ai was cool.
we found (spoiler) QWE very fast so it was quite easy. it's like the game "twister" but for keyboards. insane! best game we played so far, i would play another level with a different ship or something! also maybe it could be changed to a party game like keep talking and nobody explodes with a harder controls and some vague manual. coolest idea!
we didn't get it working properly (screen was cut) so i found direct html link, if anybody has problems with loading the game in fullscreen, you can try this https://html.itch.zone/html/8267978/index.html
Haha, thank you! I was wondering if it would work well as a shared-keyboard game, so I'm glad you had a good time with that. We have a lot of ideas for additional weapons and maybe more scenarios, so I'd love to do more development on it in the future. Thanks for playing :)
Interesting idea, i play in browser and i dont see hero that i dont know where i have shooting. In first time i try every buttons on my keyboard =D
Absolutely loved this! the dialogue was amazing and gameplay was fun. Great art and music as well!
I love the concept behind this, hitting random keys to see what happens. Super thematic. The enemy movement is also weirdly realistic. Good work!
HAHAH THAT ENDING THOUGH
Had such a fun time figuring out the controls, and the idea of playing as the final boss is executed well here. Good job!
Lmao, the title sounds like a dumb anime I'd watch.
Clever idea, I think there's some more potential here. Good humor as well.
P.S. Why the supervisor a cutie 😳
Figuring out what the controls are as part of the game is hilariously fun. Poor intern doesn't want to get promote tho XD
Amazing game! I love the puzzle component of figuring out the controls! It’s a very polished and cohesive experience, and the characters have a lot of charm as well.
It’s pretty similar in concept to my own game, but the gameplay itself goes in a drastically different direction. I think this take on the idea is really cute and incredibly well executed!
Cool game! Nice story and great "player" AI, had a tough time hitting them. Bit of an unfortunate situtation with the browser resolution (I had that problem on Edge), but zooming in worked well enough for me.
The resolution only works if I zoom in?😂
I really like the concept of the game, stumbling around buttons and looking for what works feels fun.
I'd like to see more of this where you just run into more and more scenarios and like a fleshed-out story.
Good job!
Awesome game! First I thought, ok how do I do this? But then I realized that that was the point of the game! Perfect sounds! Really cool art! There's nothing more needed! Awesome game!
Nice idea getting to control a huge ship like this was pretty interesting. I like the art, the stylized characters look good. I don't know if it's just my browser but the resolution was messed up on the itch page so I had to download it to play. In terms of gameplay, it was just a matter of figuring out which buttons to press and holding them down so more depth in some direction would have been nice, but it's a jam so time constraints exist.
Love this, love this, love this. Not the most original idea for the jam, but the execution is flawless. Awesome job!
One thing though; when I try to download it to my computer it gives me this message:
I ran into this too and I have no idea what's causing it. Reloading doesn't work, but when I hit enter on the URL bar, it does. Weird!
I really liked this one, the it was fun, but the idea and implementation specially are so clever and quirky
