Ranked from 56 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does your game fit the theme?
My game fits the theme by playing character we've never seen much of before: whoever places the signs around the map. Many games have signs everywhere with no explanation, until now. The role of the hero is given to the computer, while you now take on the role of the true hero: the sign placer.

Did your team create the vast majority of the art during the 48 hours?

No

We used pre-existing art

Did your team create the vast majority of the music during the 48 hours?

Yes

We created the vast majority of the music during the game jam

Fun game

Cute little puzzler, and fun gameplay concept. All in all Good Job.

Nice idea! I got stuck on level 3, thinking it was a bug. I was about to quit when I realize of the orangy borders that mark the path where you can and can't go (my only complain about the game, a little hard to see at first)

After that... I really enjoy all the rest of the game. Very challenging! Took me a while but managed to complete it.

Love the graphics too!

One suggestion would be a little fast forward for the more larger levels. After the 10th retry, it gets boring watching the knight advance all tiles again, and again, and again...

Another suggestion would be the change of camera, using the keyboard numbers. That would improve the gameplay considerably I think.

Amazing work! Congratulations!

Really awesome idea!  My only complaint would be that you need to click through the different cameras instead of having a controllable one, but that's a small issue, overall great work!

I love the art and tbe conecept is very clever. Enjoyed the game. If you want can you rate my game.

I'm a sucker for good pixel art (if my own game didn't give that away) so i love the art style and the core mechanic it very clever

Developer

Thank you!

Very interesting and enjoyable game. There are a couple of things I would improve on like tha signs saving upon failing a level and the speed of the character when it moves. Also, I wouldn't increase the difficulty so rapidly, but it's a jam game so it's not that important. Great game nontheless.

Developer

I agree, given more time I would've tweaked the difficulty increase better, thank you for playing nonetheless!

I think this concept has the potential to grow in surprising ways! If you had more time  to develop this idea, I think it would be cool to see what other ways a sign can influence the player's actions. For instance, what if there was a spike trap that triggered every other tick, and you needed to halt the player's movement for a tick by having them stop and read an instructional sign of some sort? I think your idea is worth exploring more!

Developer

That's a great idea, thanks for playing!

This is a nice game, it's very charming and I like the idea, it reminds me of programming games like code monkey.

My only gripe is that it doesn't save signs so if I mess up I have to start again. Otherwise, a solid jam entry.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I hope to make these changes in the future!

I like the artstyle, well chosen if not selfmade. Nice puzzler and good take on the topic. Enjoyed playing it!

Developer

Thanks for playing, and I'm glad you enjoyed!

This is a very nice game!! I love the pixel art graphics and the levels are well-designed for the most part. The final(?) level seems to be one sign short, but I did also find an alternate way to finish the game. I'm curious if it's possible to finish that level for real?

A few nitpicks: I think the signs should stay after you restart, allowing you to adjust them instead of redoing it all from scratch when you mess up. Also the multiple-cameras thing seems a little unnecessary, and makes it hard to know where the screens connect to each other at a glance, why not just make one big map where you can pan around?

Overall a cool entry!!

Developer(+1)

The final level is difficult, but it is still very much possible without the use of the secret you found! I will take your suggestions to heart, thank you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

ok good to know! I will give it another go and try and figure it out

What a cool little idea! I loved playing through the levels (probably the longest time I played a GMTK23 jam game yet :D)

One little thing: I would have preferred if after the knight dies the signs stay on their places so I dont have to start from the very beginning again.

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed! I agree, I hope to make that change in the future.

Interesting concept. Salute to your dedication!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

I couldn't finish the third stage.
there are many signs lol

Submitted(+1)

This is a cool game! I like the take on the theme and the art as well. I would suggest making either one map per level or an easier way to see how the cameras connect, but other than that it's solid. Nice work!

If you have time, I'd love it if you'd check out my submission!

Developer

Thank you, I plan on providing a transition animation in the future to fix this, I will definitely check out your game.

Really cool idea! I had a really good time playing. I did feel like something was off with how the character moved around signs, like sometimes he would go straight through them and other times he would just go around them and get killed, probably just user error though. Overall, fun game, amazing concept, and I thought you implemented the art well. If you have some time would you mind leaving a rating for our game? Thanks.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I will look more into the sign movement, but before that, I will be taking a look at your game!

Submitted(+1)

How damn creative is this wow! It's actually true, the sign placer is the most important character! After all, haven't they been everywhere that the hero has already?

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, and yes, they are severely overlooked and I'm assuming severely underpaid too. It's upsetting, really.

Submitted(+1)

Cool concept for a puzzle-game! Having multiple screens is nice, but not knowing how they connect can be a bit frustrating, so some indication on that would help smooth the experience.

Also, knowing what sign you have at the moment would be cool (you can remove them anyway so it's not a big problem, but it would make it a bit smoother i think).

Also, making everything a bit faster.

Developer

Thank you, I will take your feedback to heart. I would mention,  however, that you can see what sign you have at the moment, it's in the top left. Sorry for any confusion.

Submitted(+1)

Ah, must be my screen that was too small then, my bad!

Submitted(+1)

I like the presentation (audio/video)!

Feature suggestion: Pressing Tab to change cameras. The clicking didn't go well with the already slow pace of the game.

Developer

Thank you, that's not a bad idea!

Submitted(+1)

This a great concept for the theme, very creative! At the 3rd level it got to be a little confusing which way you came from and which way is to the next part of that levels map, but maybe I'm just dumb lol. Good Job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! The cameras are in numeric order, so the level always starts at camera 1 and ends at the biggest number, but I agree, I do hope to make it more clear in the future.

Submitted(+1)

Oh, i'm a sucker for puzzle games, and this is a very nice one, not much to comment on the gameplay loop itself, i loved it, however i would very much like that a fail/restart would not wipe away all of my signs, wish i could just remove one and try again and that the game would tell me that i could go through signs. Also the camera could follow the knight after the play, but that one is nitpick. All in all this is very solid and very fun, props to you!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I will definitely hope to make these changes in the future.
