Really unique spin on the theme and mechanics! I've seen other games use similar mechanics, but the theme and art style really makes this one stand apart! The jankiness of the game adds to its appeal, in my opinion! I believe I finished the game. Is there a way to have both twins survive the detachment chamber, or does one HAVE to die to win the game? I am just curious lol. Great job on the game! The latter levels were difficult to figure out, but once I realized the importance of the pill in the level, that made the game click lol. I couldn't figure out if I needed to get the pill first or the buttons first, but now I see that the pill gives them the ability to stretch further lol. Great job!

I'll always remember this one as the game that I played wrong.

As I mentioned in discord, I figured out a couple levels in that you could leapfrog your sister, and then she'd swing around and you could use her momentum to make sick jumps. If she was swinging fast enough, you could get a wall between you and her and abuse that for other big jumps. I didn't even realize you could switch to your sister and extend/retract until I almost beat the game this way. And, to be honest, it was a lot of fun! I hope to see some use of this "mechanic" in future updates, with lots of tutorials obviously.

GG!

I wasn't able to get past the third level, it was a bit unclear and when I tried to swing one baby underneath the other to hit the red button it never seemed to be willing to go that far. Still, the concept of the game and the use of the momentum between the two was unique and had a lot of potential, I'm sad I couldn't have seen more of the puzzle design. The screenshots look awesome! Good job.

Thank you! I admit the introduction for the game mechanics wasn't the best so I mainly relied on the players' intuition...

Submitted

Which wasn't a bad thing! I watched the playthrough, and clearly I'd gotten close to the right idea (I just used the wrong baby, or didn't have the swing fully set up). A lot of clever puzzle design, I'm sure the player's intuition will return to the player in future versions of the game.

I loved the theme! I saw this game being played on stream but even knowing how to go to the first stage it was still prettyyy hard. The fact that the expand buttons are close to the restart one is bad for people like me who are not great typers xD
Congrats on the submission!

Developer

Thanks a lot Gustavo! I didn't really think about the keybinds too much but I probably should've, I basically used the first keys that came to mind ( Q/E was previously O/P XD). I didn't intend for the game to be this hard, I should've done more playtesting I guess.

Other than the physics issues that others pointed out before, I really like the exact way that this is executed. It also might just be me, but I think the art is kinda charming just because of the "programmer-art" -ness of it, which is something that I've definitely done in the past.

Overall good game, I just wish there were sound sliders. (Totally understand that you only had the jam's time limit though!)

Developer

Thanks a lot! The art was very crudly drawn and it was just supposed to be placeholder art but I stuck with it :P. I don't have the best history with sound sliders and I had to focus on other things...

I liked the game and game mechanics. I had fun playing and really liked the death sound. This is so cool game, but it is likely to have several bugs (your game mechanics are rather diffucult to make without bugs). Good job.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yeah the game can be buggy at times, and the physics can also be janky, but I didn't have much time to refine it...

Submitted(+1)

Really unique concept. The game fits the theme very well. Some of the last levels were pretty difficult though :)

Developer

Thank you! Yeah I admit, the game is pretty difficult...

Submitted (1 edit)

Well I have to give it to you, the whole concept of this may be a bit much for me, but, it is certainly unique and original, and the different abilities present in the characters create an interesting challenge in terms of gameplay and design, the physics are a bit wonky and overall gameplay could use some tightening up and polish, but, there are some clever level design and challenges in here. Overall it's a pretty solid game, so well done!

Developer

Thanks a lot! I'll definitely tighten up the controls and physics if I ever improve upon this game post-jam.

From the 13m of playing the game, i did notice some stuff that made & in some cases broke the game for me at least :

1- The game’s core IS fun, while i did have a lot of fun with the mechanic & the idea, i do feel it is a bit hard to control, i couldn’t pass level 4 if i am not wrong.

2- I Do understand it is a gamejam game, but it is kinda boring hearing the same track over & over, specially that it has a pretty good vibe at first time, like it isn’t bad, Far from it, but it is kinda … Too repetitive if you understand me :D.

3- The levels are kinda hard, & sometimes not clear, Like it took me 5m just to understand in level 3 that i can’t wall jump on the dark gray/black walls, which could have been more clearer to be honest.

But i will say it was a fun experience, i did enjoy most of the game & i am quite happy with what you guys managed to do, Good job :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! The track is repetitive as I had to slap it together in about 45 minutes so I'm sorry about that and I didn't have time to put instructions in the levels so I hoped the player would find out the game mechanics through learning and trial and error. Btw, I made this game by myself and it was my first entry to a game jam :) so I hope you understand the jankiness.

oh i see, that isn’t bad for a first game, i am quite impressed

Very wacky, creative, and original theme; and the opening cutscene got a chuckle out of me. I too found the controls to be a bit slippery, and the levels could do with having a more gentle introduction - it felt a bit like the difficulty went from 0 to 100 real quick. Overall, a good game though!

Developer

Thanks a lot! The game being hard wasn't my intention so I put out a walkthrough if anybody is stuck :P

Submitted(+1)

Interesting concept where you are joined together but each part has different skills. Tricky but in a good way. Keep up the good work

Developer

Thank you!

I feel like the difficulty is a bit high given the slipperiness of the controls, some movements require a bit of luck to work but that can easily be fixed by tweaking the level design.

Otherwise, it fits perfectly the theme, I liked the art style and kudos for the voice acting, well done!

Developer

Thanks a lot! I realize the difficulty is too high and that wasn't my intention, so I'll try to tweak the level design and tighten the controls as you said. I'm glad you got to watch the cutscene :D

The idea of two characters joined together is seen many times, but joining two babies with a sheet of skin is certainly original! The game itself is a nice and fun puzzle platformer with an interesting mechanic that could lead to some very interesting levels. However, the game could use some more polishing. Here are a few suggestions that I think would make the game even better:

First, the level design feels a bit untested. Some parts are very difficult for no apparent reason, it's very demotivating for the player to have two very hard parts in a level, one at the beginning and one at the end. I'd suggest keeping the number of hard parts to one per level. The positioning could also use a bit of rework, sometimes there is empty space on one side but playable platforms on the edge of the screen on the other side. This is also connected to camera movement or rather the lack of it. It would be great if there were walls on the sides to prevent the player from going off-screen.

Next, the art feels a bit inconsistent. The exit doors, characters and syringe spikes all have this cartoony feel which is taken away a little by the single-colour rectangle platforms, buttons and other elements. I suppose, there was not enough time to draw everything.

Finally, the gameplay itself was a bit strange. Limiting some abilities only to one of the characters seems a bit unnecessary, but perhaps I just didn't make it to the levels where this is important. Physics-based movement of the non-controlled character is sometimes very difficult to control, especially in cases where some sort of a swing is needed. Sometimes I felt more like hacking the level than actually solving it.

Overall, really good job on making a game in 48 hours on your own, especially as you also made all the art and audio! I had fun playing your game and I hope my feedback can be useful for you.

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for your feedback! You're the first to go this in-depth on the criticism and you bring up a lot of good points. The reason the level design feels a bit untested is that because it was, I didn't have time to playtest all of the levels and the 'hard parts' weren't apparant to me since I did the level so many times. The lack of the camera movement was just me taking a page out of Celeste's book, since this was also a hard platformer. Did you play the WebGL or windows version? The WebGL one is buggy and might have caused you some issues. For the art, I had an ambitious plan to renovate it all, but I could only do it for the essential bits. Finally, the characters having separate abilities is something I added to incentivise switching between characters and to introduce a bit of strategy to where you place your characters. The thing about hacking the level is true, but I console myself by saying there are multiple solutions to the level. Anyways, thanks a lot for your review, and I'll definitely use it if I ever improve upon this post-jam :D

Nice work! I feel like the game was a bit too hard though. Then again, it took me a bit to realize that I can switch between the twins, so I played for quite a bit, and my solution to Level 2 was probably a bit different than intended lol. Also, on some earlier levels as the boy, I could jump off the girl's head (even if she was also in the air); but later stages, that became impossible. I'm not sure why. It might be a bug, so you may want to check that out.

Good game!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! And you're right that is a bug, I implemented the jumping on twin mechanic but then when I decided to remove it I didn't do it on all levels :P

I like the number of ideas. It's a bit hard to control though but the game sure has caracter.

Developer

Thanks a lot!

Very smart idea to turn a standard platformer into something special. I like that you have so many death sounds because it felt like everytime an other was playing.

The only thing I would have added is maybe a auto-restart after you die or fall out of the map. In unity you could have just added a trigger all unter the map and restart if the player hits it.

Nervertheless a cool concept and game-implementation.

Developer

Thanks a lot! I added so many death sounds so that when the babies die it feels sort of real and not just something that's preprogrammed, and having the same death sfx introduces a disconnect. You're right about the auto-restart, it would have been easy to implement but I was focusing on other things so it didn't cross my mind :P

Very fun game! i liked switching between both characters and using their unique abilities. was pretty challenging at time too. great work!

Thank you!
