Great game!!

The polish and the sounds are magnificent, great job!!

I had a lot of fun! I lost pretty quickly the first time before I read the instructions, but had a good time after that.

I think it would be helpful to add an audio indication that you are properly resisting the animal's direction, perhaps a simple looping sound that lowers in pitch/speed while you're resisting well and increases when you're resisting poorly. I think it would add some much needed feedback clarity for a constantly shifting game state.

Thanks for sharing this!

Thanks for playing! We've already got an update ready: it now shows dirt particles, and how many are emitted depends on how well you're doing. Also, some minor bug fixes. It should be up once the voting is over.

Awesome game! Incredible polish, it seems like it's already finished. It was a ton of fun too. I passed the horse with ONE HP left. The one critique I'd make is to add some way to better tell if you're resisting the animal optimally. I know the animal slows down but it'd be nice to have some other visual indicator like a certain color of flash or icon or something. It'd be especially cool if you could see the degree to which you're holding it back. i.e. if the animal is going up right and you're holding down, there is a different level of feedback than if you're holding down and left (the exact opposite direction). Amazing game though, anything on top of what you have now is just icing on the cake :D Great job!

Thanks a lot for playing! We've already added dirt particles that are at their strongest if you're doing it optimally ;)

Darn, must've missed that, my bad!

Developer

Not at all, it's something we'll add once the voting is over.

Nice little game! Its simple to understand, but still has a challenge! Art is cute and gameplay fits well the theme of the jam. Well done!

Thanks a lot :)

Nice game! I really liked the sound design and it was overall well polished. Couldn't get past the horse lol, but I really like the mechanic, nice work!

I've tinkered with the values since the jam ended, and now the horse actually feels like middle ground between the pig and the bull. Thanks for playing!

Welp, that was good ! In my experience a little feedback would’ve been nice, because most of the time I had no idea of whenever I was managing to keep the animal under control or just pressing keys randomly (same for the jumps). Apart from thet, great game ! It perfectly nails that old arcade game feeling.

Developer

Thanks for playing! It's already been updated with dirt particles to help with the pull action feedback, but we're still figuring out what sound to use for the jump.

Amazing! I've ended up all the 3 stages! Great work, the retro feeling on this was perfectly crafted (specially with Yee-Haw!).

Awesome! Thank you for playing all the way through :)

It looks really nice, and the animations feel great! It was definitely a bit unforgiving, as I failed in the second level and would have liked the opportunity to retry instead of going back to the start. I also wasn't quite quick enough to respond to the fast movements when the horse got scared by a firework.

Developer

I wish we had time to playtest it a bit more. The firework is supposed to do that, but I guess it's way too chaotic. Thanks for playing!

You nailed the looks and sounds! Was fun, and the final round was a bit unforgiving :) Good game!

Developer

Glad you liked it :)

Fun game! I included it in my GMTK Game Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Thank you for playing!

Interesting idea about pressing the opposite keys in relation to the animals' movement direction! Nice graphics and audio too. Maybe somewhat more forgiving difficulty curve would be nice, but great job nonetheless!

Developer

Yeah, the difficulty goes up too fast with the horse. Thanks for playing!

Graphics are nice and trying to not get bucked off by animals is a nice idea. I definitely think there could've been more directions in the game itself instead of just on the game page and also feedback for when the player is doing something right or wrong.

Agreed. I wish I had time to playtest it more, and iron out those rough spots. It could be an interesting game design exercise once the voting is over.

Loved the pixel art, strong design.

Thanks a lot!

Really nice graphics, looks solid and polished. Only issue to me, is that you don't feel much involvment in gameplay. Animation, showing when your character is resisteing and when he is failing could make this expierience better in my mind. But outside of that, great job!

Developer

Thanks! And we totally agree. The game needs more polish and feedback to make you feel that extra "umph!".
