When we were pitching ideas for the jam Friday night, someone suggested using the microphone as the controller for something.
The idea was rejected immediately because "there's no way we can do that in 48 hours". Turns out you're more ambitious than we are!
Very impressive stuff. And the presentation is excellent. Love the silly idea too!
Quite the talented team you have there.
Thank you so much. Actually I had issues with that. I made it work in 4hrs with Godot, then I fixed a crash we had every 5 minutes or so in game which was linked to mic recording sunday morning. So it is tricky, you have to read and analyse .wav binary data and find the power formula on stack overflow
Amazing concept! I literally mounted a microphone on the computer just to play this game! one of the bests so far! rated! please take a look at my game too :D
Yo that's awesome, I need to try yours too it looks neat
I liked the idea, the art style and user interface. At the beginning I was losing immediately with 0 points because I did not notice I had to start yelling at the microphone. I like the concept! My advice is to make the game easier at the beginning and then ramp up the difficulty progressively.
My maximun score was 229 points. It is quite difficult.
Thanks awesome feedback, we'll do that!
Using the microphone seems like it could easily go wrong depending on the user's setup. The game seemed to think I was yelling when I wasn't saying anything at all and I lost instantly.
Yeah its a risky move and we ran out of time for propper settings. If you want to see how it works normally there is a gameplay video in my game's page
Interesting concept, unfortunately i cannot make it work with my mic :-(
Yea it takes the first mic it founds, so if you have too many it may not work
does it work with webcam mic?
Hilarious concept, wish it was a bit easier though.
Thanks :) We will definitely patch the difficulty as soon as we can
This game is so promising - really hilarious and clever idea, great first person 2d perspective art. But the game was super unforgiving, but I think that is because of the high frame rate we had. Nice work!
Thank you so much. Indeed it's based on fps (oopsie). We will release a patch later.
I love the idea of this game, the concept + art is great and it is easily the funniest game I've seen so far! I did have trouble with the mic input not registering though. The only other thing is that I think you exported the project in debug mode (hence it opening a terminal when you run the game).
Oopsie lol
This is an awesome idea for this theme. Amazing art. love the concept but I was never quite sure I was hitting beats successfully. Hopefully mark sees this and gets a giggle out of it.
Thanks :) We hope too.
PS: You have to punch/yell only when their respective notes are crossing the middle bar. It has no tolerance which is too bad so if you do it a little early or a little late you already increase chaos.
do you have to hold it down while it's crossing the bar, because I tried both tapping and holding and I wasn't sure.
Actually you have to hold yeah. If you stop its no big deal but chaos just won't decrease.
I had quite a bit of trouble with the controls (maybe my mic is too sensitive). But, the art in the game is beautiful and the voice acting is excellent. Great work!
Thanks! Yea calibrating mic based input in 48h is quite a mess haha
Yeah, I bet! Luckily the game is pure joy to look at and the lines are great :D
I like the voice acting! Great artwork and audio, and nice work!
Thank you from Eugène (our voice actor)
the game is fun and needing to use the mic is really cool
Great concept!! i had alot of fun screaming into my microphone even if my family was looking at me thinking im insane lol
Very nice haha
Good to see another Godot user! Great concept and good execution. Instructions were a little bit confusing at first but then was pretty intuitive after a few rounds. All that is left is just to explain to my flatmate why I was shouting orrrrddaah in my room...
Hahaha tell him 5 French students challenged you to a yelling competition ;)
This is hilarious!! I feel like i'm in parliament myself lmao. Great visuals too :D Well done guys
Thanks from everyone in the team :)
its fun shouting while playing. everyone in the room looked at me while i played.
it would be easy to try again and again if game could be restarted instantly than going back to menu.
Thanks :)
Fun idea! Great presentation.
If only my microphone was sensitive enough to play it.
Oh no I should put mic calibration settings, why did I missed that :o
Thanks :)
Love the voice actin and the use of the mic for this game ~
For the quick story, the voice actor (who really saved us with his funny lines) is an old friend of mine who I knew had a very special british accent for a French guy. I asked him to record a few lines like saturday morning with no expectations whatsoever. I ended up laughing to tears on sunday evening with more than 40 recordings in a zip file x)
It is a very good idea, it looks good and it feels clean.
for the most part...
My main problem is the jumpiness of the You're fired bar.
I feel there might be some trouble with the input and the sensitivity of the bar.
Other than that, a great submission.
Thanks :) Yea I do agree we kinda rushed the chaos bar and therefore the algorithm isn't super intuitive when playing.
I really love the concept!
The sound is really funny to! :P
Thanks :-)
